  • Nice job! That's just awesome!

  • this will definently make history for Guitar Synthesizer Players everywhere!! when I save up I will do buisness with you, this is definently a must for me if I am going to do Techno music for a Midi 8 string

  • that's one hell of guitar, I would definitely do business with you if I could afford the parts to make a guitar with midi/piezo. Maybe I can someday when I don't have anything else to spend money on,but even then I don't know wth MIDI is used for ( :P) and certainly don't have any MIDI equipment. I have heard about it, but if you guys on youtube can help me break down the info of what MIDI is used for...please help. Don't be an ass about it people for not knowing

  • @TooleralusAEnima basically MIDI for guitar these days are the Roland GR20 or Roland GR55 pedals and those pedals you could hook them up to a keyboard or sampler, were usually called MIDI Guitarists or Guitar Synthesis or Guitar Synth players, this is the very first ever Midi 8 string guitar

  • hey wait how will you be able to switch channels or switch to bank knobs on a roland guitar synth? sorry for all the questions

  • if it does work on the 7 and 8 for midi how much will it cost?

  • wait so all midi works around the 7th and 8th string?

  • Nicely done but your clean sound sounds very much like a delayed sound.

  • 7:14 D minor the saddest of all keys :( , I love that part! lol

  • So how much would one of these mods cost?

  • @Tweek5470 I'm trying to send you a PM. I can't find the 'send message' button on your channel. Send me a message and I'll message you back with the details.

  • @shotgunndunn i sent you an email on your shotgunnmods website!

  • Very nice video ! I have a vital question though. Does the midi sounds adapt to your tuning or do they stay the same no matter what tuning you tune your guitar in ?

Thanks a lot if you answer !

  • Does the MIDI to work with all 8 strings? I thought the MIDI guitar units were all built around 6 string models and you couldn't have more than 6 triggering MIDI events.

  • @mmaier2112 You are correct. I used two 13-pin interfaces and two Pitch to MIDI converters.

  • @shotgunndunn So you'd have to do the same for the 7stringers, too. Bummer. But it's still probably easier and cheaper than finding a RG2027.

  • @shotgunndunn Was the hardest part cutting them saddles for those inserts? And how did you get cuts so nice? Did you get lucky and be able to use the saddles off the ibanez trem?

  • Now, if I want to put that (the Piezo) on my Agile intrepid as a neck pickup, do I need to buy any special hardware other than the pickup?

  • @bloodcoveredreaper Piezos cannot go anywhere but beneath the strings at the bring. Piezos are a manmade organic crystal that emit an electrical AC voltage when pressure is applied. i.e. string vibrations. If you want this mod done you'll have to ship the entire guitar to me so I can mill the saddles of your guitar and then do the necessary woodwork and install the electronics... Let me know if you are interested.

  • @shotgunndunn How much does a mod like that cost? Are there certain guitars that it actually wouldn't work in?

  • @shotgunndunn

How much would something like that cost?

  • Nice demo, pal! Keep it up! (oh, it´s from 2009 hahah...)

  • @bonuzround I'm still open to performing these mods, I just need more people to have money so they can actually do it. There is a LOT of interest, but not much cash flow... Stupid economy!!!

  • absolutely crazy!!

  • YES.

  • i just added a tone knob to my bc rich....now i feel like a retard because this is amazing

  • will it work for Roland Guitar Synths?

  • @ekalb2185 Yes.

  • Excuse me men, where did i can buy axon products? I want to buy th mkII

  • @MAGAVIMC AXON went out of business. I used to be a dealer, but... They do not exist anymore. I wish I could help, sorry.

  • Can you make your guitar sound like dolphins?

  • Respond to this video... I can... Can you??? Send it to me and I'll make it sound like a duck fart if that's what you want...

  • I've got an RGA8 and a RG2228 ordered will be here as soon as Ibanez gets around to making it. Anyway, whats the simplest way to do this conversion? Can you PM me please?

  • Waw... I.... Just waw!! That Is.. Sir.. I dont know what to say!! epic awesome!!

  • Fantastic!!!

This is what I`ve been looking for! Is it limited to 8 strings of MIDI or can it be done on a 12 string extended range bass?

    Best regards!

  • thas this controles any softwere or just a specific one...for ex. cold you play spectrasonic trilian with it? thanks m8..

  • if i installed those pickups onto my 1527 ,would i be able to run it through ableton?

and also how much the fuck did those cost?

  • You are an absolute genius. Is there any way you could do this to my 8 string? It's an Agile Interceptor Pro-B 828 w/ Duncan Blackouts (Not sure if that last bit matters). Oh and it's got a Kahler (I think 72228K) bridge.

  • Comment removed

  • I have a standard fender style on my 8. What do I start hunting down?

  • Is it possible to insert the GraphTech Custom Piezo Inserts into an Edge-Pro Tremolo on a Ibanez Prestige RG620X ? I'd love to have midi capability on it.

  • @bergweg No. THey are much too big. The saddles were designed with the L.R. Baggs X-Inserts in mind. I can sell you a DIY piezo kit for your Edge Pro bridge. You may purchase it directly from me or from my eBay auction. PM me if you would like to know more. You may also search my other videos as I already made demo video of a piezo modded Edge Pro.

  • @shotgunndunn Is it possible to upgrade a guitar with a kahler x-trem system in the same way as you've done with this ibanez?

  • (O-o) ... *tears* ... How much would it cost to order one of these from you... And you don't have to put sugar on the price, I can already tell it's gonna be like buying a car... All I know is I know what I want before I die...

  • now it needs a Sustainiac, and youll be all set ;)

  • Imagine the wave of progressive metal you could twist people's minds with. Man.

  • damn it, it was fantastic!

  • my creativity would be unleashed!!!

  • Oh my gawd :O

  • i was youtube surfing but dont know how i got here but im liking this, a lot a lot. by wiring all that in, that has to make it worth about 3k. i still am amazed at ibanez's 8 string none the less with this midi configuration..

  • fret buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz-zzz-zz-zzzzzz-zzzz

  • Oh my lord that was amazing

  • good, nice

  • is it possible to meke that on a Ibanez rg 1527? can you explane me how? thx

  • @devildrummer197666 yeah you could get them installed on a 1527. Check out the Graph Tech site, they have 7 string sets of the floyd bridge saddles, then you'd get the ghost acoustifonic and hexpander installed

  • @mechajabo Actually the GraphTech Floyd Rose saddles will not fit on the Edge Pro bridge. For the 1527 I use L.R. Baggs' X-Inserts into the Hexpander for MIDI.

  • @shotgunndunn Oh really? do you know if there are any issues with any of the other ibanez trems?

  • @mechajabo it's not really an issue per se'. They just don't fit. The Edge Pro saddles were designed around the L.R. Baggs X-Inserts. They're a perfect fit so it is best to use them in the Edge Pro. Without my mods there is no other way to have piezos on any Ibanez trem. I have another video showing the Edge Pro Piezo Mod that I came up with. Search for Edge Pro Piezo Mod here on youtube... I sell kits, send me a message...

  • 5:16 is the godliest noise

  • if i had that setup i would never be seen again, only heard

  • How much did it cost for you to do all of this to your Ibanez?

  • this is fucking amaaaaaazing! i need this contraption.

  • llol i thaught the mic was part of your beard heheh

  • do you need a certain pickup for the midi? like the the gr-20? is that what the piezo's are for? im confused

  • @ibanezxiphos700 The piezos are providing the 'pitch' information to the 'Pitch to MIDI converter'.

  • @shotgunndunn Do you have to be plugged through a computer to use the midi effects? Or can you plug the guitar straight to your amp and use the midi effects?

  • @MrXorHomer You do not need to be plugged in to a computer. That is one option. I have used this system with a Yamaha Motif Rack. (a keyboard brain module.)

  • every time i hear you play that note at 8:06 i think of shoots and ladders by korn

  • f**k i want this...............what midi converter are you using man..excellent.

  • @100roberthenry AXON AX-50. I am an authorized dealer. Let me know if you need one.

  • 5:50

    Beautiful.

I'll be purchasing an RGA8 sooner or later and will be requesting this mod.

  • Um yEAH this is how it's done :) hexpander for bass with reaktor loop point shits to midi and lotsa logic midi fuckery to Live ableton over iac hope you guys enjoy and understand! With fcb1010. Check the second half of these vids especially. Peace love and respect :) Check the related vids (note to drum loops lfo rates sidechaining on audio reverse side chaining on audio ((bassaudio that is)) the works mate :)

  • very cool mod. cant wait to try something like that. thanks for posting.

  • How much do you charge for this? this is really cool

  • i'm pretty sure this is the same setup that chimp spanner uses.

  • Seeing as your the man at this stuff.. I just got this ghost system installed into my Schecter C-1 Classic, using a Roland Gr-20 synth, and I get nowhere near the quality of tracking that you are getting. Ive adjusted the sensitivity, the switch is on Roland not Axon, im pretty dissapointed... any advice?

  • @IHeartIgnorance Wow, tracking worse than this??? That is hard to believe. I was very disappointed with my initial results. Things are MUCH better now. I shipped this guitar back to my customer several months ago. He was able to tweak it. At this time, I am afraid to say that I still am not an expert as to how these converters are tweaked. I simply haven't been able to take the time to sit down with it.

    Sorry,

    shotgunn

  • Holy crap 6:30. Sooner or later, someone is going to get very famous writing a song using that technique.

D Minor, the saddest of all keys. Never mind that i'm downtuned and it's C Minor hahaha

  • 6:30 Sounds like Halo. Also, that synth pad sounds like God passed gas. Sooooo freakin sweet :P

  • that sounds fn awesome

  • I like the Synth Pads, maybe you can do some techno stuff

  • Did you buy the piezo transducers separately or butcher them out of a set of saddles? I have a set of Wilkinson style saddles which I bought for a project but if I could get them out I'd love to try this.

  • I am an authorized GraphTech dealer. I had them make me some custom inserts that would normally be in there LB63 bridge (Floyd Rose bridge). Do not attempt to cannibalize your Wilkinson saddles. You will completely destroy the crystal. The piezo element is a tiny fragile crystal embedded in the string saver material. Once it is embedded it cannot be successfully removed. I can get whatever parts you'll need. Message me if you are interested or if you have further questions.

    Thanx,

    shotgunn

  • The things i would do with a setup like this. I would break worlds. Can this be done with other guitars? Or is this strictly an Ibanez specific mod?

  • @SeamlessR Any guitar man. Let me know if you have any questions. I would like to help break some worlds!!!

    Thanx,

    shotgunn

  • Synth-Pad = Ear-gasm

  • About time someone made one of those mods! It's amazing; the extended range really opens a plethora of new things to do with the MIDI sounds.

    Great job man!

  • God dammit now I want n 8 string with piezos ha ha.

Great piece of work man, one of the finest mods I've seen someone do to a guitar. Real awesome.

  • Great video examples.Nice setup.Casio did all this back in 1987

With The PG-380. Working on making one wireless with Midi and guitar transmitters.Would be nice to see one of these wireless.

  • @ 5:52

    Beautiful.

Hey, are there any kind of books or videos that I could check out to learn how to do customizations and such?

  • Honestly, there really is nothing out there that shows in great detail anything of this magnitude. I plan on releasing some videos that teach and train... That may be a LOOOONG way off though. I have been really busy doing these mods. Go ahead and subscribe so I can keep you posted... Thanx!!!

    shotgunn

  • The bass part was awesome, and at 5:25 was awesome.

  • Yeah, I thought the bass sounded awesome too. In Pro Tools I ran the bass through the Sans Amp PSA-1 plugin set for SVT and tweaked it a bit. Then I compressed it quite a bit.

    It's a pretty useable sound I think...

    THanx,

    shotgunn

and playing the guitar @ 5:25 was surreal. I didn't even know where I was!!! I was stunned.

  • Holy bleep... 5:25

    Mind blown

  • fuck! this is so beautiful!, congratulations man!

  • Thanx man!!!

  • i hope to meet a great guy like you

  • How much will one of these cost?

  • The RG2228 will cost ABOUT £1,400 at UK prices, GraphTech sell 6 string FR tremolos on eBay for about £120.

  • Yes, but what good is a 6 string trem gonna do for this 8 string? This bridge is totally one of a kind. The piezos are installed in each saddle. With two Hexpanders...

  • I just want to congratulate you for all that work, amazing guitar!! =D

  • Thanx man, I appreciate it!!!!

  • oops, i was logged in as my personal account...

  • AMAZING¡

  • AWESOME guitar. The violin sound kinda reminds me of Mario 64....

  • Thanx a lot!!!

  • oops, i was logged in as my personal account...

  • THIS IS INSANE!!!

Thank you thank you thank you.. Awesome Guitar!

    Cheers!

  • Thanx man!

  • oops, i was logged in as my personal account...

  • I really like the Piezo's alot better. Never been the biggest EMG fan. I love Seymour Duncan Active Blackouts. And I DEFFINATELY love my customly activated Dual Rail (on custom Squier strat) and Customly activated Dragster Hummers (On Custom Jaguar).

    ...Can I have the guitar...please...? =3

  • It's not mine. I can do the mod on your guitars if you like...

  • oops, i was logged in as my personal account...

  • I'm getting an ATX, FREAKIN' EPIC GUITAR!!!

    (P.S. love both y'alls videos!)

  • no comment!.... just incredible work...

  • This... is... so... AWESOME!

Great stuff, never thought guitars could function as a MIDI-controller, although heavily modded.

You've made me want more than just an 8-string guitar now :).

  • Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you.

    Thanx!!!

  • oops, i was logged in as my personal account...

  • Christ almighty! That is one hell of a mod!!

VERY nice work; I'd LOVE to have one myself.

    Fantastic.

  • I am performing these mods for all who are interested. I have a waiting list of 6 guys right now. PM me if you want more info.

    Thanx!!!

  • oops, i was logged in as my personal account...

  • But. Why 2 plugs 13pin?

Are you using 2 synthesizer´s for midi sounds?

One plug p10 for magnet pickups and one p10 jack for piezo. Right?

  • All guitar synths (or Pitch to MIDI converters) can only handle 6 strings. This guitar has 8 strings. I used two Hexpanders, two 13-pin cables and two AX-50's into Pro Tools LE 8. No, I did not have the magnetic p/u's or piezos running through the 13-pin cables. That buffers the signals more than I like. The piezos are already buffered inside the Acoustiphonic, and the EMG's have their own preamps. So each signal has its own output. Strings 1-6 (13-pin A) strings 7-8 13-pin B mags and piezos.

  • Great video, as with many of your demos, good job! I was going to get a custom guitar with both the piezo and midi from graphtech and you've just made me do it sooner!

  • I'd be glad to help.

  • fucking awesome!

  • dude that sounds SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

  • this is amazing! i might send my guitar too. 8 string piezo just rocks.

  • Whats the damage for a peizo midi mod identical to what you've performed on a 6 and 7 string?

I've got to say EXCELLENT job. I would like to send you a jackson 6 and ibanez 7 in the future.

  • ....wow

  • In the words of the great Tim Allen (from the T.V. show Tool Time) You're darn right WOW!!!

    Thanx man,

Please be sure to rate and subscribe.

    shotgunn

  • This is without a doubt the most amazing original awesome guitar ever concieved im absolutely blown away dude. i NEED one of these its fucking ultimate!!!

    Wow!

  • Thanx man!!! I can make it happen on your RG-1527 if you like. Shoot me message in my inbox here if you are interested. We can put two hexpanders in it to have all 7 triggering MIDI.

    Thanx,

    shotgunn

  • Michael,

What a great video man! I loved it!!!!

We have made history dude..and the guitar looks amazing! I can't wait to start my new album!

Once again, thank you for making my dream a reality!

    -Stephen

  • Yeah, I am pretty happy with the video. I wish I had more time to tweak the tracking. As far as the guitar goes I couldn't more please with the outcome... Thanx for the opportunity. Let me know when you get it. Good luck with your clinic this week!!!
