And, djfakt, HON??? As for PUNCTUATION!! What in the hell are you SQUAWKING about?!!! There's nothing wrong with my choice of words and the manner in which I typed them -- IDIOT!! If you're referring to my strategic use of ALL CAPS and the INTENTIONAL placement of dashes between the syllables of "absolute" (i.e. "ab-so-lute"), GET A FREAKIN' LIFE, PAL!!
Oh, and by the way, djfakt -- talk about the pot calling the kettle, "black!" Um, perhaps you meant to type ". . . or *some* *similar* jive," rather than the BARBARIC phrase you chose, "something [sic] similarly [sic] jive." Talk about SICK, SICK, SICK!!!
MESSAGE TO djfakt: KISS OFF!!!! I'm entitled to express my opinion on one of my favorite *escape films.* The style in which "Pillow Talk" was produced and directed seems to be a lost art, these days. The chemistry between all of the actors and the perfect timing with which they deliver their lines is simply a joy to see -- for ME, anyway!
This is my ALL-TIME favorite comedy. Good, CLEAN fun (but sexy at the same time). The dialogue is filled with tongue-in-cheek, double entendres. Doris Day, ROCK HUDSON, Tony Randall and Thelma Ritter at their ab-so-lute best!!!
All of the above, PLUS the BONUS of title song (and another short little number, in the movie itself) sung by the multi-talented Doris Day!
So is mine. And I agree with everything you say. Good time when eyes and behavior could say a lot more than mere plain words would - with class and desirable sophistication! Thanks and best wishes.
HI ....This was one of the first films that my mother took me to see at the afternoon show in at our local `Essoldo`cinema..luv`d it then at the tender age of 6 yrs..one of many great collaborations between them..good memories...thanks for posting.....: )
Great idea to use the commercial recording of Pillow Talk instead of the soundtrack from the film. By the way, I also adore Doris Day. I get quite frustrated when people come up to me and tell me that Miss So and So is a great actress, a diva, this and that... It seems like today everybody is a diva and they all get Oscars. Gimme a break! DD is the ultimate star, actress and singer. She's done everything from comedy to drama to musicals and done them all great. No bitch today can compare!
This movie is the best.. this is the way I always dreamed my life to be, living in NYC, a fabulous career, a great apartment and hot men to date.. this movie is tops!!! Doris Day is the best
Randall was married to Florence Gibbs from 1942 until her death from cancer in 1992. He remarried on November 17, 1995 to Heather Harlan, an intern in one of his theatrical programs. At the time, Tony was 75, Heather 25. The couple subsequently had two children, Julia Laurette Randall (b. 1997) and Jefferson Salvini Randall (b. 1998), and they remained married until his death in 2004.
I don't know what made you and others explain here on Tony Randall as the talk has always been on Mr. Hudson who publicly made known his homosexuality. Anyway, thanks.
One of my favorite movies ever. The perfect film to watch when you need a break from "reality." Especially funny to watch two gay actors (Rock and Tony) competing to win over Doris Day. Even funnier, gay actor Rock in a role as a big studly straight man, playing gay for a few scenes in the movie. And Thelma Ritter was at her all-time best!
Made at a time love & comedy movies were meant to entertain. And they did. Today they will upset you instead with their lack of imagination and imitating the old ones. Thanks for your comment.
