His job as a fake news anchor makes him unique though. He has the ability to run a comedy show about the news, and still bring in people (Betsy McCaughey, Jim Cramer, Cliff May, John McCain...) where he can bring his knowledge of the ridiculous failures/missteps of the media and government that informs his comedy to hold a serious debate.
He lets people answer, he avoids shouting matches, he goes for content, avoids spouting talking points and calls people out who do... and still cracks jokes.

Some of Jon's rhetoric alone makes him sound clearly smarter than O'Reilly. It comes it short, controlled bursts, but it's there. And I don't know where he gets that kind of self-control. Holy shit.

@LoneBesamell It's really more about what Jon gets out of it; he gets to advertise his book. It's essentially identical to his answer about why Kerry went on his show: he wants to reach a new audience.
Jon definitely is a superior debater than O'Reilly, better than most cable news figures really. Like most topical comedians, Jon's iconoclasm allows him a strong insight into the heart of what's wrong in a political debate.

His job as a fake news anchor makes him unique though. He has the ability to run a comedy show about the news, and still bring in people (Betsy McCaughey, Jim Cramer, Cliff May, John McCain...) where he can bring his knowledge of the ridiculous failures/missteps of the media and government that informs his comedy to hold a serious debate.
He lets people answer, he avoids shouting matches, he goes for content, avoids spouting talking points and calls people out who do... and still cracks jokes.
