  • Finally the actual video instead of the stupid daisy daisy one!

  • You guys are thinking of the mixtures - in the summertime?

  • The 70's were so fantastic in the way of music and motors

  • This song is the best to ride my bike to..hence the title maybe? :P

  • on the tooheys 5 seeds ad. but this aint the same version?

  • @HxCSounds The first version.

  • Imagine the price of a house in Melbourne in 1970...

  • Thumbs Up if the 5 seeds Ad brought you here!

  • @djremix2006 so truee.

  • It should be thumbs down if it took an advert to come here?@djremix2006

  • @hardballget Maybe not all of us weren't born in the 70's.

  • Yeah good point, lol. I did put a QM on the end. I forget that I am old codga now. Pissa though how the traffic is passing and the Kingswood that pulled up there bum. The real audio would of been something like "get orf the road ya bludgers, struth elsa....bloody hippies".@djremix2006

  • @hardballget I fear Getting Old, I don't want people wiping My ass for me Too soon And be stuck eating food that tastes like shit, I just can't handle that Kind of thing, I would hate to think of what I would be like if i was Old.

  • Fair suck of the old sauce bottle there Charlie, I ain't that old. We can all have opinions too but to show repugnant disrespect to all elders is a bit low, plus it was not even funny. Have a nice day :D@djremix2006

  • @djremix2006 FUCK YEAH IT DID HAHAHAHA :D

  • i want to do that on top of my car carrier

  • more bloody pushbike riders that didnt pay rego ( lol )

  • Great pop song.

But why is there a volcano in the background (see 0.22)?

  • I did not know that song existed until I heard on the radio a Kiwi called the radio station in my area weeks back when the song In The Summertime is mentioned. I learn something every day.

  • Always seemed like a rip off of Mungo Jerry's "in the Summertime'.

We all thought so at the time but copying overseas acts was a common practice in Australia at the time.

Nice to see Melbourne before it go so choked up though.

  • @diamondgeezer49 Had a bet with some bloke at work some years ago. He swore that this was Mungo Jerry and I knew it was the Mixtures because I had the single. The bloody idiot still didn't believe me, so I took the 45 into work. Got a fiver out of him lol There's one born every minute.

  • Is that girl the Town Bike?

  • i like how nobody cared there was a group of guys on a bike following one woman on a bike...........kinda creepy.

  • Apart from the clothes the hair and the streets, did you notice the cars!!!! Those beautiful old Fords and Holdens and Valiants, the two HT Taxi's and the XR Falcon 500 Taxi, cool, and the XW Fords on the highway. Hows the beautifully new and classy VIP Valiant sedan in the main street! And yes I know the chick on the bike is gorgeous and songs great, but those cars, the EK wagon and FC and FB's, did ya see 'em? Cars with character and style, not like modern stuff, fast but no class.

  • Yes indeed, marvelous looking cars and to see them sparkling new was awesome. I think there is one blue Valiant with mags that looks primo just after the parked VW but I could not get a good pause on it.@OlBlueshound

  • being a raging homosexual i adore this song

  • @elgc123 okay

  • Comment removed

  • They used to play at the Dianella Hotel in Perth in the mid seventies, they had a great stage act with a version of Ray Stevens Along came Jones with one of the group dressing up as a sheila and being rescued from the railroad tracks.Good night out, cover charge got drunk and shouted a few for about $20.I think one of the band-possibly the lead singer drowned at Trigg Beach in 1976/77 and didn`t hear of them after that.

  • Umm, can someone get me the wonky bike at 2:02???!

  • Who is the girl riding the bike?

  • @chrisfawkes not sure but she's probably 70 something by now

  • My dad used to sing this song all the time but in his own way - it's weird hearing the original!

  • @emilydais thats awsome

  • My Mom is the girl on rollerskates .

  • C L A S S I C

  • I remember hearing this song on the radio in Germany, when I was a kid. Surprising to find out 40 years later that I am suddenly only living an hour's drive away from where they shot this.

  • I love this song! I have happy memories singing this song as a child!

  • The similarities w/ another skiffle band Mungo Jerry's 'In The Summertime' are apparent.

  • This reached no 2 in the UK in 1971, and was one of the top ten selling singles for that year.

  • sounds like Mombo Jerry In The Summer Time

  • thanks man lab

  • today this would be classed as sexual harrassment! lol

  • @davidsan01 but you can say I got laid on TV. That is okay

  • @pictureisup1 oh never mind.... sarcasm not your strong point then? it was a joke!!!!!

  • @davidsan01 Yes, I know it was a joke. I'm sorry if I didn't come across that way to you. It is just Some people( I am not one of them.) Think What I wrote is okay.to say on TV. Happy Thanks Thansgiving!

  • Look at the "OLD" Valiant and Holden Police cars in this clip.

  • "new" Valiant lol@mollymitch1

  • @hardballget You're right they were then weren't they?

  • Absolutly awesome ,what a hot shiela.

  • Ceepy '70s douches following a chick.

  • what a great filmclip.who needs special effects.

  • Love this song!! It's VERY addicting!!!

  • Get A HAIR CUT HIPPY.

  • I think it was in Melbourne when the population was half of what it is today. Hence why they can ride without helmets, no 4WD idiots, yahoos, yobbos and skinheads - they came later. Bring back crackers.

  • @creativeengineer

The opening scene is riding along Beach Rd/Beaconsfield Parade up from Elwood and past the St Kilda Marina (where Riva Bar is). The second part is riding along Beaconsfield Parade after Catani gardens and towards Middle Park. Then the bridge they go over is the Kingsway bridge (before the casino covered it). And the Hotel Australia they cycle by in the CBD is where the Novotel now is in Collins st.

  • If they had been taking up 2 lanes of a 3 lane road today , I may have been tempted to run them down in my 4x4...;-)

  • @verymaryhinge But then again you might be a 4x4 yobbo

  • @latefor maybe...

  • @creativeengineer

Its the St Kilda foreshore along Beach Road (between Luna Park and Elwood Canal). That is St Kilda Marina in the background in the opening scene with where Riva bar is now).

  • Great, after 40 years it's still funny.

  • i was only a year & half, when this came out, but ever since then when i hear this song makes me smile.

  • This was the first record my sisters and I bought in 1971. We had just got our first radiogram (showing my age there!) and this was all over the radio. Big hit in the UK, spent something like 5 weeks at number 2 without ever hitting the top, I think it was My Sweet Lord and Baby Jump that stopped it getting there. Nice clip.

  • Next time I hear someone say Duran Duran invented the pop video, I don't know whether to slap them or send them this link.

  • @GhibliFan1 Haha.. both :D

  • @GhibliFan1 or this /watch?v=_H6PdlJshCo in fact i think the beatles actually may have been the first

  • somehow i dont think those cars were pre warned

  • This is RANK defined!

  • I love this and it brings back such memories of my childhood area along Elwood...

Life really was so much more pleasant way back when!!!!

  • Watch the old cars in the background and do you think they would let you do it on the back of a truck now? (film it)

  • This has been stuck in my memories for years. Thanks so much for posting. Now I know where I got it from :).

  • no safety rules back in those days

  • Those Were The Days ;))
