  • Amazing...and with Depeche Mode playing in the background!

  • Freecoaster??

  • Kids at the local skate park here are doing bigger aqnd better stuff but this is getting on for 30 years ago. He was THE man

  • this guy INVENTED bmx

  • 2:26 I think someone got stabbed LMAO

  • He really didn't do shit

  • Oh my ! Look at the 3 he did at the beginning, it was effortless..

  • Bob is a true bmxer- he is also a business man , though. Meeting him makes you realize that he lives for bmx and has done so much for freestyle- only a handful of people come close.- thank you BOB!

  • the crazy part is how he does this with so much skill......its like hes not even tryin

  • master bob

  • This dude Is CRAZY!!!!!!!!!! I Rap Like this

  • I was there in Chandler Arizona in 1980 when he a R.L Osborne first performed there stunts on a half pipe. I was only 15 then and it was amazing watching them do tricks....I'm 44 now and I must say I am proud that I was able to be there when he started his freestyle career in BMX. Bob Haro is and was a true professional...

  • Had he got a freecoaster hub?

  • no, he's got a coaster, a pedal back brake, freecoasters were first made by ACS in around 1986

  • Comment removed

  • so bob do u think this sport will be a flash in the history or will u see it in the future....man just if they could look into the future....just if.man bob is the origanal man the z boys of bmx him n his buddys i ride a haro but hey so what he rick lots o respect!

  • I actually met this guy once,Years ago He's a totally chill guy.

  • GO BOB!!!!

  • bob haro is 51 im 44 he did a demo when i was raceing

  • bob haro sucks

  • die

  • OMG look at phil liggett all the way back then lol. thought he only does road racing!

  • maybe it was cool at the old times but today poeople would laugh at you if youd do somehting like this....and if youd do something like this in a show they would throw stones towards ya head...xD

  • Bob Haro = The man. BTW my haro is a tank. craptastic forks, but nice frames.

  • Bob Haro is to BMX freestyle what Led Zeppelin is to heavy metal!

  • Bob haro will always be the man imo back in the day, i had a old master my friend had the sport we thought we were bad lol! anyone who doesnt have respect for one of the pioneers of the sport must have their head up their ass.

  • he is 50 now! legend

  • Dude, that is so old skool! Its sweet.... I have a haro lol.

  • Classic stuff.

Makes me giggle seeing the old freestyle stuff, them wearing their race suits and that, quality old-skool.

  • he is old dude that is like 1980 its cool

  • To anybody that says this SUCKS. How can you

appreciate the sport if you don't now the history of the sport!!!!

  • Check out my 16" Haro video. Katherine

  • the man behind it all

  • As someone that used to ride in the 1980s, that was petty cool.

  • ok not very good to me but might be bk then but honestley i thouhgt it were a pile of shit the seat is far to high

  • Hmmmmm, some history lessons might be in order.

    But only after English lessons...

  • i was in a rush ahole

  • those are some small ass ramps, which make the old schoolers ten times better because they had to work with shit that was heavier, plus they set the tone for the BMX riders today

  • old schoollll xD...

  • old school.....................

  • shit those bikes wheight between 6 an 7 times the haro bikes now

this dude rocked and still rocks today

  • New Schoolers are always saying this old school stuff sucks. HAve any new riders tried to do any of this stuff on these old bikes??? If anyone thinks it doesn't make a difference then why don't they make these bikes anymore?

  • Freestyle wouldnt be what it is today if it wasnt for Bob Haro and the "lame" tricks he did. He is the godfather of freestyle.....you dont know your freestyle history if you think any different. I bet he could still out ride alot of people......

  • Thats so lame compared to the stuff people do today but it was probably super awesome back then

  • yeah man, where the heck were the tailwhip backflips and 1080's? I feel ripped off.

  • i could do some of the stuff he did

  • as kickass as it is now, you have to admit BMX was a douchey sport startin' off.

  • omg wath noob is this guy!!!

  • la machinaa!

  • Bob Haro taught me how to negotiate starting gates in 1978. Stockton California

  • awesome and he got a freecoaster allready!!!

  • Freecoaster? I hope you are kidding, there was no such thing back then. He is riding a coaster brake.

  • yo einstein he's havin 2 breaks so theres no coaster brake!

and a freecoaster is around as long as a coaster brake!

a freecoaster is just a coasterbreake without breakepads!

  • What are you talking about. There was only coaster brake back then, no freecoaster where you can switch back and forth. Haro is riding coaster brake which almost everyone did back then. Even in the early to mid 80's people rode good ol' coaster brake, Tony Murray, Maurice Meyer, Ron Wilkerson just to name a few. This is many years before you were born and never seen these guys ride in real life.

  • Great artwork, great style.

    Great video thanks guys..

  • Cool video, I loved the art work, there was this great comic strip, I forget which magazine it was in.

  • BNX PLUS! I think, as far as i know Bob started off doing cartoons before Haro bikes.

  • Back in the day, this shit was awesome.

Now this shits just plain lame.

I used fuck around with my friends back in the early 80s. I owned a RedLine I thought I was soo cool. Not!

Now I write for a living but but relive those days in my head.

  • geeze and now after you left your comment you did close your account.thats annoying!

  • Go to vvdailypress and search ((Walking a thin line)) to see some freestylers from .1949

  • Go to vvdailypress and search ((Walking a thin line)) to some freestylers from .1949

  • BrutaL !! Lindo mesmo ! <3

  • The reporter is like Alex Mahone in Prisonbreak..

    Is he that? :D

  • tell me guys at the end of that vid bob says that he just did a 720 i am sure it was a 540 ummm . adam

  • BMXHISTORIAN and BMXFREESTYLELEGEND, you guys Really know BMX history and hit it spot on! JULIOMTB and King need to do a little more research.

  • R.L.s the kyle petty of bmx, Along with HARO they only got where they are in the sport because they had their own personal PAPARAZZI. R.L.'s DAD, owner of the BMX Action mag. HMM.. Guys like Woody Itson, martin, William(Crazy Lacy)Furmage, Tony Ray Davis, Jeff Watson and a few other top riders never if ever got Photo shoots for the mag. Thanks to the internet these OTHER guys can get some respect they deserve. Google/youtube them. BMXFreestyleLegend is spot on. Crazy & Bill Watkins show .1979

  • tell me guys at the end of that vid bob says that he just did a 720 i am sure it was a 540 ummm . adam

  • haro was a good guy and great for bmx

  • yo king! sure they´re jealous, this video is gold, this guy made the first querterpipe, six feet tall, i can´t understand why anyone can speak trash about the master bob haro!, If it wasn´t for him and a handful of others, freestyle wouldn´t exist, his company that some criticize so much was a pillar in freeestyke development, it´s like sayin that jimi hendrix sucks cause there´s steve vai or satriani, i mean? what d fk?

  • Exactly!

    My point exactly.

    Thank you!

  • Dave mirra also thought Haro was a fag.

  • I'm still involved with the sport. Helping kids with skatepark issues. Haros a sell out. Whats he doing for the sport!

Hmmmmm..........At my age i'll go up against haro. any time any where

  • Haro's a SELL OUT???

    What are you TALKING about???

Because he toured the world back when no one ('cept for some BMX'ers) had even heard of freestyle before, he's a sell out?

Because he went into business for himself to design and market some of the very first (and coolest) bmx bikes specifically designed for freestyle???

The guy promoted the sport to the absolute FULLEST back when it hardly existed!

THAT's what he's done...and he did it nearly 30 years BEFORE you.

    Come on now...

  • Haro is a sell out and a posser. you don't know what your talking about king. crazy was the BMX Freestyle scene for vans in 1982 when haro was making stickers.

  • This video right HERE is filmed in the late 70's!

Haro talks in his interview about skateparks and riding in '73.

Sounds a lot earlier than '82 to me, gee I don't know.

I know exactly what I'm talking about...I was riding in '82 and saw more footage of Everett & Beatle Rosecrans from the Vans team riding doubles in skateparks than I ever saw of Lacy.

You like your Crazy Lacy guy better, fine.

But to call Bob Haro a poser and sell-out is just absurd.

You just sound like you're jealous.

  • I toured ohio in 1982 with Vans and Crazy lacy. Tony Ray Davis from Super Style II, Crazy lacy Freestyle BMX team. Did the first 540 arial. Tony also rode the first Haro/torker, copy frame in 1983. On that tour everett rosecrans was giving the riders booze and all of them were under 18. There wasn't any skateparks back in 1973. GEE YOU DON"T KNOW!

SUPER STYLE II WAS THE FIRST CROSS OVER BMX FREESTYLE TEAM TO RIDE FOR VANS IN 1982.

  • HARO TALKS ABOUT DOING FREESTYLE IN '73!!

How about WATCHING THE VIDEO YOU'RE COMMENTING ON!

As far as skateparks, he rode'em in the late 70's (hmmm, that's before 1983).

Hey tough guy, while you're at it, how about thinking of when the first BMX Action trick team TOUR was WITH BOB HARO and RL Osborn.

    It was in 1980!!!

Hey, STILL sounds earlier than '83 to me! Gee I DO KNOW.

    Just like I thought...JEALOUS!

  • Wow man talk about humble beginnings. This is seriously rad though thanx for posting tis vid. Bob Haro is one of the originals respect. Seriously take some time ride with old men learn something new. Peace!

  • mylas name is haro..

  • sweet he had a freecoaster

  • 2:07 lol they have to hold the ramp:L:D

the ramps dont sound very healthy do they? lol

  • i could kill one of these dumbfuck kids that show no repect, only cause it´s vintage it sucks to them crazy, i was there too, and this video is a gem.

  • Tell me about it!

Yea the stuff he's doing looks easy...it was like 1980 or so.

    It was just starting out.

  • a French fry woke me up when it was for Jewish time. good luck!

  • lol he had a freecoaster.

  • who could imagine? the BMX after him (time) would take such dimension! Double-flips... back-flips tailwips etc.

Cool. I love old school bmx videos! It transport my soul to that time.

    []'s and rgrds.

  • thats nuffin to what peole can do now a days

  • Those who think bob haro started freestyle. Thats a myth. It was Started by guy like Eddie Fiola, Tony Ray Davis, Mike Buff, William(Crazy Lacy)Furmage, RL, Martin Aparijo, Woody itson, Fred Becker, William Watkins. Bob was just a poser who made number plates. Then later bike frames. GOT IT!

  • true that he didnt start freestyle, but he did start flatland BMXing

  • all he started was number plates and stickers.

  • Bob HARO, a POSER???

Freestyle started w/ Eddie Fiola? Martin Aparijo? Woody?

Yo, Martin and Woody...those two twinkle toes didn't even come around til the early-mid 80's!

Haro's team toured in the late 70's.

RL and Mike Buff were doing the BMX Action thing right around the same time too but, Haro's team was DEFINITELY there first, hoss.

Eddie Fiola...King of the Skateparks without question...but again, that was the 80's.

    Haro wasn't even competing anymore!

How do I know? I WAS THERE!

  • Crazy lacy help start it. I WAS THERE!!!!

  • Blow me fag

  • Blow me fag

  • Man he makes it look so damn soft.....Wow the bikes really have evolved. Haro rules.

  • Haros a dork

  • i have a haro there a pretty decent bike

  • PRICELESS

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ boring

  • man, they made "lords of dog town." when are they gonna do the bob haro movie.

  • Please. thats funny

  • this was pretty much the first.

  • LOL......

  • back in the days when we were educated

  • oldie but goldie

  • is that freestyle??

go home and eat more cereals!!!

    wat the hell!!

  • yeah it may look lame and boring. but look at motor racing tennis boxing football that probably looks lame compared to todays standards. But without the old days we wouldnt have the new days. These vids bring back memories even though down here in oz we never saw any vision at the time but BMX Action and BMX Plus made up for it. good 2 c..

  • the man is the father of freestyle

  • WOW this looks really old. People all over the world were sweating us. Its funny how the interviewer really has no idea what to ask... Bob haro was well spoken, good interview... I had his bikes when i was a kid. I miss those days.

  • erm...

when did u all learn this stunts???

i wanted to learn but nobady teach miie...

    T_T

  • man i am bmxing check my shit 3x backflip...easy!

  • hey bob im fucking good i at bmx and shit so where should i get sponcerd i live in missouri and shit and there is no where to send a vid in missouri and i want to get sponcerd by haro and shit and like where would i go to give haro the vid so that i can get sponcerd....

  • Back in the day he was no 1. He's made a fortune thru his bike company. So who's laughing now!

  • he is old and he suxs

  • guys like bob haro rl osbourne mike buff eddie fiola all the heavy hitters are to be thanked for what you have to witness today such as dave mira ryan nyquist etc

  • yea i got respect 4 this guy 2, but can someone send me a message to me explaining y when he goes into fakie he doesn't have to pedal backwards

  • coaster brake, or brake pedal

  • The guy is a true legend but how tame do the stunts look compared to today. Great to see another legend in the vid Phil Ligget.

  • Who remembers the movie Rad? It came out on Beta. Only us old school fellas would know that. Later dudes.

  • Well, all you lil pipsqueeks that forget that the 80's generation gave birth to many things that you lil faggots enjoy today. I happen to still have my 87' Haro Master & is all Haro & still ride it. So respect us older dudes or go cry in a corner. As to my comrad bikers, Peace out dudes....

  • i thank him cos he started the greatest sport ever!

    much respect to him..:D

  • Respect to the man. Freestyle kicked in around the mid 80's in Australia and this guy is the true champ who started it all.

  • dammm..im glad bmx is wayy better n popular now a dayz den bakk den cuz from wut he did would be nuttin now..lol..oh well dats how it got started

  • Just remember, this guy started it, dumbasses .......

  • Show's ya how far along bmx has come, amazing .......

  • i met this dude in person like 6 years ago hes a really cool dude

  • Bob Haro is the Master !!

During the height of this "sport" for geeks and nerds in 1983 I was racing 16X and we would have around 90 people in our class alone at Nationals.

So, for all you little shits who thinks this video is dumb and Bob Haro sucks on a bike, keep telling yourself that. You can believe what you want, but there is something you need to know...Your Mom swallows. At least she did "Back in the Day."

    RYFB !!

  • ohh my fucking god i can do betta den dat and i am 13 lol

  • fuck you, you little shithead. Kids like you got no respect for anything or anyone!

  • stupid little faggot poseur!

you would not be doing "betta den dat" if it weren't for Bob Haro. This is 25 years ago, no shit BMX has changed!

  • it doesnt look like ,but its hard to do.

    so ,but not more.

  • nothin special...

    at all

i see guys at my BMX park do this shit all teh time

  • no shit? dumbass. were the doing this 25 years ago or starting a sport?

  • Bob Haro FTW!

  • So times move on and maybe it doesnt look so rad nowadays, but he started it all, and look at most of the new bmx bikes... Dull isnt the word, they're so drab its depressing. I own a 1984 skyway T/A, a 1984 Gen2 Haro Freestyler Master, a 2006 Haro old school sport and a 1978 Raleigh Chopper Mk2 prismatic and I wouldnt sell a single one of them...

    Keep it old school.

  • he sucks compare to ppl now days

  • i don't think you'd have said that in 1982!!!

  • no butthen again youtue wasn:t around ..Bob Haro was king (leeds england)

  • its called progression you dumb fuck.

  • hmm i agree it all about dave mirra and matt hoffman

  • Que Bueno Bob Haro... Donde esta ahora? que hace? Practica aun?

  • This is awesome.Thank God for Bob Haro!

  • Hahahaaa!! I love seeing the comments from todays freestylers, saying this clip is prehistoric and making me feel old.(ya little b*stards, age comes up and bites everyone in the arse, eventually)

  • Christ! I found this by accident. I gave up freestyle 20 years ago when I was 18 cause I thought I was getting old, and now I find there's blokes my age still riding. To hell with what my misses and kids say, i'm getting out my dusty 'March Badlander' and going to the local ramp. (when the kids are at school of course, incase I fall apart).

  • do you know what year excactly?

  • the father of freestyle bmx

  • It's sad how an average man like me can do all of the and some... But he is a true legend...

  • bob was ahead of his time in everthing bob made kids dreams it make people happy today this clip fucking cool

  • ow yes, how its come on. 'do a back flip bob'

  • wow, bmx sucked back then. it look so unhardcore and they still cheer.

  • Unhardcore? this is nearly 25yrs ago!

    You need some history lessons!

  • maybe its only the bike and clothes

  • This takes me back to '84. I actually had the video - it's called 'BMX Lightnening Wheels'. The video got nicked when burglars stole my Mum & Dads VCR with the video inside!!!! Buggers!!! All looks at bit tame now, but at the time Bob ruled. I ended up being the proud owner of a fully customised Haro Sport (Dominguez)which cost a fortune back in '84 purchased from Faze 7. Ahh, the good old days.

  • well, without a past there would be no future.

  • that was deeeeeep

  • he sucks you guys are fake bmxers

  • He sucks ? fuck you, it was 25 years ago, and i dont see a brand named after you. ever hear of haro bikes ? they may suck but still. go suck a fat one, you poser.

  • That clip from Grandstand defined my life!! Remember meeting up at Lochend track and seeing who could do back hops lol. Awesome clip, thanks.

  • his roll back is a 540 cab

  • WOW!!! Old school! My life would not have been the same were it not for Bob and the rest of the pioneers of bmx freestyle. Here I am 33 years old and still riding as often as I can. 20 years and counting... I'll ride til I cant ride anymore!

  • hey, that's hard, bro,no,for real, doing a show by yourself building momentum trick by basic trick,to an unsuspecting and new crowd,no matter what year,is tuff stuff.Much respect to the real old school.

  • I was at this show and have never seen this footage, at 20 seconds there I am with the blue and white mongoose shirt on just behind Sir Bob...cool..thank you for postin this.
