  • 4 people stomped on their own foot

  • oh yeah..

  • tunes like this just lift you to a higher plane of existence!!!!!

  • love it, love it, love it....ole skool is where it's at!

  • this song had Rod Temperton and Quincy Jones all over it! ;)

  • Everybody's having so much fun.

  • This is a Classic isn't it?

  • beats the shit out of his bass at 2:11 what a badass!!

  • @puddyman ha!! ;) now, that's how ya slap that bitch!!!

  • how can you anyone not like this?.....this music made you feel good...period,and the musical integrity is astounding, something sorely lacking in todays hip-hop garbage...Louis Johnson can thump like mofo

  • on this slap solo fender jazz. louis johnson he is no playing on a fender jazz he is playing on a music man.

  • @airbrush504 yep thats a Music Man bass, best funk basses ever

  • I always loved their music. I was born a few years after but my folk still played their records.

SN: Any fellow fans of Jamiroquai hear how they were influenced by this group?

  • 懐かしい~~~♪

  • 1980 was the year. Afros was the hair of choice (and I had a big one). And I was right in the thick of it all!!! This brings back memories from my freshman year in college as it was winding down in 1980. This music made you feel good, love your neighbor and get up and dance .... party and have a good time!!!! Thanks for the memories @ devilpuppy. Good Job!!!!!

  • I'm still Stompin'!!! Love the Brass!

  • this is what u call a feel good song <3

  • Amazing how back then black, white and latino's partied together. Nowadays you would be hard pressed to find that kind togetherness.

  • Back-in-the-day jammin'! This record was HUGE and STILL sounds great. I love the "Afros" LOL

  • i remember dancin at the disco to this in 1979...my favorite

    music year...u didn't need a partner to dance...just me &

    the DJ...1979

  • it's impossible to not move at all listening to this! .... awesome bass-slapping :D

  • They dont make music like that anymore.... they should!!!

  • AWESOME!! What a groove!,There is no music like this now and it is loss,I am in a band and we jam this tune but we cant get the funk these guys have, they are stunning!

  • oh my!! i am 37 and i remember this song like it was yesterday, didn't know artist or name of song-or what they were actually saying

  • To fast!!! fucking pitch

  • thanks for post this video

  • Oh good grief... disco/funk/boogie. Now I gotta find EWF Let's Groove (the vid is hilarious) and Gap Band Drop a Bomb.

  • Bring Glitter and Fringe back

  • Man I remember bustin the 8 track in my aunt's monte carlo to this jam.

  • i was 26 when this came out . Now I'm 58 and its just as badass as ever !

  • I love how all the bands were mixed ethnically back then: Black, White, and Latino....that's probably got a lot to do with why the music was so good also.

  • @Megajanitor I agree and many people were unaware of the groups I will mention were ethnically mixed groups, when music really was music compared to dog crap on radio today. KC and the Sunshine Band, Heatwave, Sly and the Family Stone, Gary's Gang, Doobie Brothers, MFSB, and the Dazz Band to name some.

  • Yessssssssssssss LOVE this music!!!

  • this is not funk this disco

  • @MrArsg13 How can you listen to that bass playing and not KNOW this is FUNK. Yes the bridge has a disco feel and that keyboard solo is straight up disco- but this song is funkier than hoop drawz after all day on the court!

  • @FunkyG cuz you hear the somewhat cheesy sounding strings and immediately associate it with disco. But i agree, this is funkier than you grandma's drawz after hoopin all day on the court.

  • The Brothers Johnson rule!

  • @slickwatts76 ESPECIALLY the dude with the GIANT glasses, how could Louis Johnson even get noticed while being overshadowed by those damn glasses !

  • Dette er den mest funkye melodien fra 1979. Så klart står Q.J. bak den. Mannen med funk i lommen. Bare se på hva han gjorde for M. Jackson album Wall og Thriller

    Medchef

  • Wow! Gotta move to the groove!

  • Awesome group, they don't do it like this anymore!!!

  • AH! , the 1970's bassy soul funk was brilliant , I listen full volume. I did a wee turn on the decks in a disco around then and got away with playing this one at least 5 times a night.... well it was asked for.

  • = )

  • love this.....................

  • slap da bass man!

  • 3 people are de-funked.

  • I love the two girls singing backing vocals...Thye really make this song.

  • @Kimmell2010 I disagree my friend, i think even without a video this song would have still been a classic, and I think what makes the track is that it undoubtedly creates that whole party atmosphere. 1 love.

  • I love this song. OMG. I can't stop listening to it!

  • One of the greatest hits by the legendary Brothers Johnson! Definitely the year of the shag! Cool video! Soundslike a bit of a remix here and there, but awesome nevertheless!

  • @kenpalmer1965 I must have been asleep whilst it was going on, take care.

  • Best dance song ever, i loved this when I went to the disco's in Quebec, Canada open until 6:00 am in the morning. So you partied to music like this from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am and sobered up a bit and they let you stay until 6:00 am

  • @pllaird I almost agree with you. Peace

  • what a killer track with an amazing bass line. I don't understand why the guy in the video looks like he's an actor portraying a bass player. what's he's doing visually isn't even close to how it would be played. it looks fake. it's the same guy isn't it? anyone?

  • @78hiwatts Its not the original track. Stomp is about 6 minutes+. This must be a radio edit. Its not a real live taping either.

  • MAST 'A'CHE!

  • Hilarious. Louis is slapping at 1:17 and there is no slapping yet until the solo!

  • @Apathesis0 it's all for the show. It's the video editors.

  • @Chavezoid Oh I know. There's some terrible video editing present here.

  • THE BEST!!!

many thanks dear princeiion for great sharing

    all thumbs up !!!

    have a wonderful sunday

    greetings

    SYL

  • Now I FINALLY know who did this song! A 30+ year mystery has been solved for me!!

  • wot a great track, these boys could get dowwwwwn!

  • Great stuff, I wish I could've saw them live in concert.

  • Io lo so sono nato nel 1962 e quei ritmi hanno infiammato la mia generazione..., grande funky anni '70 che ritmo ragazzi, irripetibile...

    Nicola Caruso,from Catania

  • I like this sped up version!

  • Few things make me happier than this song and this video. Just a bunch of nice people having a great fucking time dancing and being joyful, if that's not the secret to life's happiness, I don't know what is. Wish I could party with them.

  • Man look at how fit we all were back then and we hardly had to try!

  • thanks man, good memories

  • You said it pazzen. I still live in the 70's and 80's and that will never change for me! That was when music was good and fun to listen to. I was lucky enough to have lived in Los Angeles from the mid to late 80's, and had the pleasure to have met Louis Johnson (bass player). What a very sweet and nice man he was.

  • This ain't old school to me. This is still today for me, and it's on my iPod. Today's music just is not kicking it in the groove like it did back then. There is no starch in the shirt anymore like this. (I'm white by the way.)

  • @devilpuppy1969 THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!! I'm 42 and at that time we didn't get videos in our house. Cable was still young and so were videos. It was fancy. haha. We were still getting up to change the channels by hand. Anyway all my allowance went on them. I had their albums and could stare at the cover for hours on in. At 12 yo they absolutely made my sun rise and they set it too.

  • @mareedatl, Hey no problem, loving the ol' skool music is what I am all about.

  • @devilpuppy1969 Oh, a mere youngster but this track is Iconic, and I don't know why but this track just came to my mind as I was looking for other stuff.

  • One of the great tracks from the Disco era that is still being played in clubs and movies all these years later (I just heard it in the movie Yes Man) and still sounds fresh and great :)

  • Lol LOl. Look this is not Diso.. this is funk The funk era. Disco is Gloria Gaynor,Donna Summer, Village People etc. Don't insult the funk lovers and call funk disco. Because it's not.
