and who are you?..why are you taking time out of your life to comment on what i commented on this video....please find more substantial things to do with your time......
I grew up in the SWATs, but was all over from CP / EP to Simpson Rd. Simpson Rd. cats killed my boy in front of me in 94.Folks told us not to F w/ those Simpset cats. We didn't listen. They killed him point blank right after a Douglass / Mays basketball game at a spot near Allen Temple. We were fighting, then the SimpSet cats started shooting. It was crazy. Shot in the neck and died. One of my homie's cars had about 20 bullet holes. It was about 100 people out there too. Too wild.
Damn, that's crazy. I haven't heard too much of Simpset other then seeing their tags all over the place. Remember that highschool Harper Archer on Perry Blvd? My homeboi went to Columbia and he said after they beat Harper Archer the fans shot up the bus when they were leaving. That's a rough area. I used to some shit from Allen Temple back in the day...I'm glad to be alive.
Stayed away from Harper High - Lot of my boys from Adamsville / Fairburn / MLK area went there. Some Allen Temple folks too. Then we they combined Harper with Archer (Perry Homes), it was a wrap.
A real life High School High. My homeboi went to school there... he told me the craziest kid there was the only white kid (he was mixed black & white) named Leno Brown. Red afro & gold grill. He is actually in that Witchdoctor video "Holiday".
I went to school on the west side and Im white, I went to Douglass thoug, I lived on Simpson and Chappelle rd, REAL SIMPSET,, NOW I STAY DOWN THE ROAD IN DA BLUFF
They are tearing down alot of placez and tryin 2 "refresh" The A. You are starting to see alot more White people and Hispanicz on the westside now. Some people REFUSE to move out of a place until itz time for it to be torn down. I use 2 stay in Zone 4 in Auburn ave when I were a child. And 2 go in that area now? WOW it have changed sooooooo much. They have Cafez and everything over there.
Whats da most fucked up is tht u have ppl seriously attached to livin like tht like when they first started tearin down edgewood niggaz went crazy robbin each otha and breakin in ppl houses talkin bout nobody will ever steal the hood from them doin graffiti on ppl property. It was madness but ima tel ya a secret they pushin everybody from the hood out in riverdale and clayton county now alot of schools have already lost their accreditation due to this bcuz of the grades droppin and kids not goin
Here come those property taxes in Edgewood...Honestly fuck all that new bullshit. I'm going to miss watching crackheads fight over their turf and offering 6$ blow jobs. What's up to my folks off Arkwright.
No Dumb asses. Its a shame that Atlanta is were everyone is coming for school and living this very close to the colleges and this is how they care about places people can live. and wonder why the crime is up.................................... smoke that
Why the fuck are you walking through some abandoned projects? I bet it was a nigga hiding in one of them windows waiting to snipe your ass but his gun jammed.
DC's crumbling, crime-ridden housing projects were characterized as the "second worst in the United States" by the last Secretary of HUD, Henry Cisneros
Im not from Atlanta and I only been to the A once but I just stumbled upon these vids....and I didnt know they had so many housing projects...The apartments in this video look creepy the way they are made.
Majority of the apartments are boarded up or have already been demolished. These right here, I'm not sure if they will be torn down or just renovated, but most of the displacement goes to areas outside the city limits. Hood mixing. I hate it because it hurts the unity in the community.
This aint Harris Homes patna. Harris Homes WAS on the Westside right off 20 and Ashby near the AUC. It's all college dorms now. Harris Homes was big as fuck. My parents used to live right across the street from Harris Homes. This is Harris Street, which runs from Simpson, to North, to Bankhead (Seafood). Man, I've been in Atlanta my whole life and it's ABSOLUTELY AMAZING how this city has changed. It used to just be slums and booty-shake music.
If you want to see these apartments go west on Simpson (Joseph E Boone) to Holly St- take a right and there on the left. Also look at the apartments next to them- The Pit- and the apartments across the street. Enjoy.
terminuszone1, big up to all your footy of Atl project housing, im from Boston but my girl lives down that way. I have always had some weird interest in the differences of housing throughout the U.S. I have been down to Atl probabally 6 times or so the past 3 years and I never see any of this. Sorry for all this typing I was just wondering abouts how close to your "undergrounds" turner field and piedmont parks are these located ? thanks
The only projects that could be considered technically downtown would have been Techwood/Clark Howell Homes and U-Rescue Villa and Cosby Spears Memorial Tower. Turner Field is located in the Summerhill neighborhood, which is one of the strongest hoods in Atlanta. They got a project there called Martin St Plaza, but it really doesn't look like projects. Underground is within a mile or so of a few that have been torn down- closest still standing would be University Homes.
Piedmont Park is the nice area of the city. Virginia Highlands and shit like that. The closest project to that park would have been the U-Rescue Villa off North Ave. The hoods are located just beyond what you can see from the I-75/85, but most have been torn down. Grady Homes and Capitol Homes probably could have been considered downtown. If you want to see some hoods go down Bankhead, Simpson, Mlk, Boulevard, Ashby, North Ave-west into the Bluffs, Jonesboro rd, and Campbellton.
Yes, Atlanta is tearing down all the projects. There are a few left standing: University Homes (Vacant), Herndon Homes (Occupied), Bowen Homes (almost vacant), Bankhead Court (about 70% occupied), Hollywood Court (Occupied), Thomasville Heights (Occupied), Edgewood Court (Occupied), Martin St Plaza (occupied), and Westminster (occupied) these are the last projects. They all should be torn down within the next couple of years.
Sorry dude but im from edgewood ZONE 6 all day lol but um naw bra they gutted them like a year and a half ago only black ppl left are the ones that had house all da duplex's and egdewood ct apts is gone the building new apts condos and houses and its white ppl that actually walk up and down the street and play wit they dogs and shit oh and hella new retail spots with lil boutiques bars and misc. shit now
Comparatively speaking, Atlanta now and Atlanta pre-Olympics, it does not have a lot of projects anymore. Pre-Olympics there were probably 27 housing projects including 3 Fulton County projects and not including the all the Highrise public housing and the projects in nearby East Point. Atlanta supplied more public housing per capita than any other city in the country and was 5 in North America in raw units alone. These are just apartments- some are just as bad as the projects in Atlanta.
No white folks. These apartments on the West side of the city. Pre-Olympics Atlanta had some of the worst housing projects in America and supplied the most public housing units per capita. Most folks don't know about the dark side of the city because they see all the bullshit nowadays. If you got any questions hit me up, I'll to let you know as much as I can.
That is funny... College Park and East Point are separate cities that border the Atlanta City limits. East Point is much worse than College Park and neither can compare to Atlanta. I'm going to post the East Point projects later. We all roll together though.
This is the Westside- zone 1. The is the worst area of Atlanta as far as- physically declining. Some of the cities apartments are worse than the projects and quit often they will beef with each other. These apartments and the pit are separated by 20 feet.
