Went into Vodafone yesterday yesterday and,... they had a Lumia 800 "out back". Got my mitts on it. It's so ridiculously attractive in the flesh and WP7.5 runs silky smooth on it too. Impressed.

iOS is boring with the icons. So is WP7 with the tiles, because those tiles are kinda irritating with all the animations. Android is the best because we can change to whatever UI we prefer from the rom markets or launcher programs. Both iOS and WP7 are for those users who like to be stable and monotonous in their daily lives.

I see WP7 eventually eventuallly getting more noticable. Android is just. Not exciting, has a marketplace, but just dull to me. Iphone will probably stay at the top at least for a while.

I don't know if anyone mention before, there as a leak on the specs of nokia lumia 900, it's a 4.3 floating super amoled with clear black display the device will be thinner than the lumia 800 despite having a bigger screen. It will ahve 1G of ram the same 1.4 processor and 16gb/32/64 of internal storage. I just hope they don't make this only to USA market and launch it in Europe also wich I think they will because given the specs the lumia 800 is def.middle end and nokia lumia 900 hig-end

I think the real problem with WP7 is that all the phones are too expensive.

HTC, Samsung, LG all put a high price on the phones compared to the specs.

Windows Phone OS needs a native landscape mode for home-screen and its other apps.

Android OS really need to clean up its fragmentation. I guess ICS is not a savior to all Android-base devices.

LG Double play is a good concept. So far they interpret it relatively well. Maybe they can polish it up and put more RAM and better CPU. Improve the display. Maybe they will wait for ICS.

If people don't have a smartphone by now, it's because they don't want one or because it's too expensive.

Also, cars and operating systems can't really be compared. It's not like when you buy a car from a different manufacturer, it'll be vastly different. Take a look at PC operating systems: Windows, OS X, and Linux. Three seems to be the limit, but one of them is going to have a very small share.

@pyeclam I agree on some points but I think that we've seen the potential for so many different takes on a smartphone. iOS, Android, BlackBerry, webOS, and Windows Phone are all viable options for design and functionality. There's no reason to have only two options when we've seen so many other different ways to do it.

@PhoneDogSydney The lack of options is terrible, but it's also because customers will keep going with the biggest trends. I've had a Windows Phone, and I think it's great. But with the portion of the market share Android and iOS have, it'll be extremely difficult to fit in another OS. What you said about Sony Ericsson phones and how they need something to draw you in also applies for Windows Phone 7. It's smoother than Android (but same as iOS) and lacks a good ecosystem. Not enough appeal atm.
