From "The Moody Blues Hall of Fame ~ Live At The Royal Albert Hall" DVD circa 2000. Just saw them do this live in Vancouver (as a 7 piece band) and I honestly think it was the best and most moving song I have ever encountered in concert, over 30+ years of concert going. Row 6, center, wow, what a thrill!

First song I danced to with my fiancee, after a 20 y. bad marriage. Live from red rock in colarado. Unfortunately, I was not ready for another relationship. We had tickets for mann music in Philadelphia summer of 95'. He took his own life. This is first time i have been able to listen to this song. 16 years later. Still not over what I blame myself for. but ,I had a good cry,and they say that is a start.

this song is so beautiful, and the arrangement......it had to be a genius to do it for full orchestra. i am a guy of 54 and this song makes me cry from the first measure on.
I have been a fan for 30 years now .even when they took time off .And came back stronger than before .The only bad part now is Ray is no longer with them .He is missed bye many and will be .
I was lucky enough to see the Moody Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC a few years ago. Anything and everything they do is superb! And still just as good-looking as ever!
having found my true love and soul mate 35 years ago and then to lose her to MS not long ago...this song is so touching. i fell in love with the moodies long before i met her. rock on guys...
I feel sorry for the dislikers...that they have never known this kind of love. "To love and to have lost...." the passion, the height of feelings, the total immersion into and by another human being.... Pray that you find before your time is gone.... Turtle
Majestic, beautiful, magnificent.....these words do not adequately convey just how wonderful this song and this performance really are. Love the Moody Blues and they are truly one of the great bands of all time....I could listen to this song forever, even in eternity, it would not get old....It is like a glass of cold water to a person dying of thirst in a vast desert......
Isn't life strange? Some day in the future, all the Moodies will get back together and play this song, I hope. Jastin, John, Gream and Michel--not to mention Ray.
As much as I love you, and I do, Jesus loves you so much more. He is God. He is gracious, kind, forgiving, and gives you more love and peace than you could ever imagine. Please ask Him into your heart.
Happy Belated B-day, John!! To all of you, thanks for being in my life for 40+ years...still loving your music, and each of you. You have brought magic and joy to myself and MANY others, year after year. Here it is 2011, and you're STILL GREAT!
I write music now at 53 years old, because of the Moodies. This group has influenced my life, my music, emotions so much that I now write in there path. From Mike with his Mellotron and Justin and John with their riffs on the guitar and great vocals. I cannot forget Ray's amazing flute and vocals (writings) and at the back Graeme Edge's perfect drumming and occasional lead speaking from the poetic genius work of the Moody writers. What can I say , they are endless .
I remember a place from my mispent summers during my youth called Waterton Lakes International Peace Park .The old townsite is in a valley surrounded by a bri lliant glacier fed lake and snow capped towering mountains. The musical mastery of the Moody Blues were able to match the mystery of the yearning I felof life through music and words.
Absolutely one of the greatest songs period, and I needed to hear it this morning. This insightful and intellectual band has always made me think just as much as they allow me to feel - which makes it a completely emotional experience to listen to and lose myself in their music. The Moody Blues give so much to us because they intuitively give so much of themselves in their work. Bless them all...

Straordinaria canzone che tutti dovrebbero conoscere.Quanti hanno attinto a piene mani anzi a pieni orecchi dalla loro arte.Troppi. Questa song è un capolavoro che qui in Italia pochi conoscono. Peccato.Grandi Moodies, veri e sinceri musicisti come pochi al mondo.
This song brings down the house every time I see the Moodies. It's a great performance. I can't remember the second drummer's name, but I would really like to see a video isolating on him while he's going ape on the cymbals.
Saw the MB for the fourth time last night here in OK. The flute portion of this song was very, very admirably done by Norda Mullen, who apparently has been with the group since ailing Ray Thomas had to medically retire due to gout in 2002. She did an absolutely splendid job with this and Nites in White Satin. She had big shoes to fill and she did a marvelous job, no disrespect to Ray at all - she, he and Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull - among the BEST on a flute in all of rock, INHO.
What can I say about the Moody Blues? Timeless music, the energy of their compositions are spiritual and lift me to levels away from this earth. I have been to countless concerts...on this tour I witnessed their marvel and mystique three times. I am honored to be in their presence and if I ever could choose a place to cross over to the other side, it would be during the magic of the music of this gift from heaven.--Moodies Fan since 1974-Montreal Forum
:::::le sigh:::: I miss my babe. Lost her so long ago, and now she has just lost her 3rd husband to cancer. Now I mourn for not only for losing her, but the pain she feels now from the most unkindest cut of all from life, well, indeed, how do I put it into words that express what I feel for her... I wish I could of been the one to die in her arms... so she could have one more day with him. That's this song to my heart.
@babsinjrzy The fragility of life is a current of tears both good and bad, guiding us with unseen hands. Maybe those hands guided your eyes to see that so that you'll know that you do not walk alone either.
@iamthewabbit1 been cruising the internet for about twenty years and that is the most beautiful thing I have ever read. Let me wipe my eyes before I give you a big cyber-hug, wabbit.....
Starting off in the 60s, The Moody Blues music evolved to the point where a full orchestra enhanced it tremendously. This group has been one of my absolute favorites for almost 50 years.
I do not think there is much Music out there than can inspire such passion and dreams as these Gentlemen.I grew up surrounded by this Music and I count myself privileged.
top five group of all time - no doubt-- i first heard them in the mud in nam so excluding the music the brothers taught us whites to like , temps, harold melvin, spinners etc we shared this with them and found out we were all one
so excluding the black allstar lineup its, QUEEN, BEATLES, MOODY BLUES, STONES AND ZEPPELIN i sat in first row in saratoga springs ny in 1992 and carly simon was sitting next to me. cause her song about the guy flying to the races in saratoga was big then, geniues
This makes me want to pull out my old copy of "The Seventh Sojourn" and give it a spin. These guys have terrific staying power, still turning out the crowds roughly 40 years downwind of their prime time.
I watch this video and many other Moodies regularly. I love the music and the concepts. I'm 60 and my wife has passed, I think of her because our life was founded on the principles in the stuff these guys did. I haven't seen them in person and won't, even though they are in my town in a month or so. I miss her. I thank them for the fond memories I have when I listen to their work. These guys played a part in changing my life before I met the woman whose arms I'd like to be in once again. Peace
@firstpriorities1 All I can say is, if you do have the chance to see them live, particularly if they are backed by a full orchestra, you should not miss the opportunity. It will be a day that will shine in your memories, even if your beloved is not there with you.
This is sheer magic! Watching these videos,I am transported to the past when I first heard the audio perfection of the Moody Blues! This concert must have been an evening to remember for eternity! The voices, the orchestral harmonies, the entire arrangement is classical majesty!
@idle44 Justin and George are right up there spiritually ....singing their hearts and souls for all to see. It will be sad when our Justin can't be with us...
@fgbernard They're not only UP there with the Beatles, they have surpassed them. They are still with us. They are performing TOGETHER for us. Sacrilege? Nope. Truth.
I've been trying for years to describe how I felt when i first heard the Moody blues. Lets just say its the closest thing to magic I found in this temporal realm. It was unique, special, touching, haunting. Today there is nothing like it - kids listen to motherf... and bitch and endless handclap hip hop/rap. Same old 'beat'. On their i-phones, no less.
Great song! I'm going to their concert in April and I just bought their new calendar! Any fans should check it out at their website called moodybluestoday!

Lost the love of my life after 25 years marriage, when she just dumped me. I'd give the world to have her back!

@iamthewabbit1 What an excellent comment! The way love should be. Perhaps the best love is a love we can release. Godspeed friend!

This should survive the ages as well as Debussy's "Claire de Lune" or Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata." It's that lovely.
