Why make health insurance companies cover something that it not an "illness"? The answer is that this is will be a foot in the door of forcing them to cover abortions. The false comparison between birth control and Viagra makes no sense at all.

So while McCain was caught off guard - he voted against both. Makes sense to me. Health Insurance is so high here in NJ because they keep adding more required add-ons that have nothing to do about bottomline health.

The more that is required the less affordable it becomes - forcing the government to take over...then watch how much falls off the table as costs mount.

According to this he hasn't thought about it. I find that disturbing. The insurance industry is very regulated. Regulation is the basis for a lot of the things they do.Birth control should be covered. It is not expensive, but it is basic health care. People who have insurance should not have to pay twice. Health insurance is useless if it does not cover the one thing that healthy women go to the Dr. for every year.

The Gov't shouldn't force PRIVATE insurance to do anything. If it's a bad product, no one will buy it. If a company chooses to cover Viagra, they may attract customers away from the competition, same goes for birth control. The reporter distorts facts suggesting Gov't forces Viagra coverage. If the insurer wants to win more women customers, then they should cover it, they should NOT be forced to. If they were, then don't complain when healthcare costs go up proportionately.
