  • This is real

Lyrebirds are expert mimickers they can copy the sounds of birds, animals even chainsaws.

  • WE NEED TO KNOW, HOW CAN THIS BE... IS IT REAL???????

  • hmm i dont know a word to describe it.... fantasmazinsome!!! there thats it!! XDD

  • Does it actually have a sound of its OWN?

  • i couldnt understand, you cropped the sign language woman!!

And wont the female get scared away by chainsaw noises??

  • This is not sad at all that the bird mimics a chainsaw. The bird has no song of it's own, so it mimics sounds to attract it's own species. Or is it something else that attracts a female Lyrebird? This bird was born to mimic ANY sound. It's not sad if the way the bird attracts a female is using the sound of a camera or chainsaw. Apparently the females are attracted or this bird would have been dead ages ago with no mates. If the female likes the chainsaw, who are we to say it's sad?

  • @StabbyMcButterPants

You've missed the posters point entirely mate

  • @StabbyMcButterPants That comment is made entirely of fail !!!

  • An Australian told us a story that he was once making love to a girl out in the bundocks. Moments after finished, he heard a voice nearby repeating everything the girl was saying while making love to him, just like a recording. Both could not believe it what they saw and heard; it was the Lyre Bird saying: OH MY GOD... YEAHH.... OH GOD.... YEAH.. YEAH...

  • @giuseppe3010

Bollocks! i doubt it can imitate human speech mate.

  • I wonder if it can imitate a Lambada song or Samba song.... Well, if I tell you I can imitate Frank Sinatra, would you believe me? Ok, come listen to me ...see if I can. ha ha ha

  • Lyre bird. L-Y-R-E. Because its tail looks like a lyre.

  • 1:52 sounds just like R2D2

  • i bet they taste so good :d

  • @flyingWIDdaFISHES we've killed so many spices, taragon is almost exstinct

  • @sgtgreenthumb dodo birds along with several breeds of tigers & tigresses. I wish I had the power to do something about it.

  • Try watch this when your stoned. Me and 2 friends did it and it totally cracked us up! ^^

  • nature is awesome

  • Crop her out why don't you, now I don't know what's going on

  • people keep argueing about creation and evolution...

why cant we all accept there is no way that were gunna change the other ones mind?

anyways it is truely sad that beautiful forests everywhere are being destroyed, Australia hasn't got many rainforests

and the wildlife is so unique and amazing

  • yes i agree

it has such a wide variety of species

i dont see why they must be cut down they help just as much being left alone

  • that bird's parents created it u religious buttheads in a big chain of birth and evolution... and it didn't evolve to be shot so y do people do that...?

  • why the hell would you question a persons religion?! their not hurting anyone!!! if they were saying that their god intended for it to die and that we should wipe the entire species out that incredibly racist comment may be somewhat justified

  • Yer, try telling that to douche hunters they'd look at this beautiful, amazing bird and see a big target painted on it. Unfortunately man made sounds like chain saws and alarms can carry for huge distances in the forest , valleys and combine that with the bird's acute hearing and curiosity it's nearly impossible to shield them from man made influences. Very Very sad .

  • people dont hunt lyrebirds

    well not anymore anyway

although it is tragic that so many forests filled with such amazing beautiful and unique animals are being cut down

  • Then maybe you should do us a favor and remove yourself from the population if you feel that about humanity. Do not spout your genocide taunt if you cannot accept such a fate against yourself.

  • Kind of a mean comment there, but I have to agree with you.

Don't preach to others what you are not willing to do yourself.

    Well said.

  • Save the Earth, stop hunger and reduce the human population. Eat your children.

  • It's very, very sad that people are destroying the forests. Destroying the wonderful natural world that the Creator gave to mankind.

This bird is a reminder to us all.

    חיפוש

  • Mashallah it's really amazing!!!

Is it only the male that imitates sounds or the female as well?

  • the female aswell, but she is known to be more shy.

  • make it copy a really loud, weird fart

  • my bird does that

  • For some reason, the guy in the middle of this video, Nigel Marven, reminds me of the banjo player in the movie Deliverance.

  • lol deaf singing lady XD

  • no, deaf siGNing lady. look at the right of the screen. She is doing signs for the hearing impared.

  • How would deaf people be able to appreciate a lyre bird?

  • @eridanus22 Its....sexy....? xD

  • @eridanus22 WOW You have a good damn fuckin hell of a point it's like saying it's amazing at vocally imitating like the cameras how the fuck can you explain what things sound like.a

  • @eridanus22 He also imitates sign language with his wings?

  • WTF is with the signing lady?

  • she's trying to attract a mate

  • hahhahahah

  • theres people playing radios and heres it

  • What...? What does that have to do with the signing lady?

  • please people, when you voice creationism against evolutionism, please use the suffix of "ism" onto evolution, because to either party one is a truth and the other is a theory, so to prevent argument, please quote them bothe as theorys, even though i know the truth, but of course im not going to say what i know is the truth, because that of course would cause more argument, if u wanna kno what i believe just msg me ill get back to you eventually.

  • This fascinating bird was the inspiration for a upcoming book for young adults titled, The Land of Intuit. I'm looking for a publisher. 'til then...

    any constructive feedback? gracias.

  • dunno, you give very little to go on. Guess themes suggested by the lyre bird (from my watching the various Attenborough vids on it on youtube) are...

learning = imitation a lot of the time.

The loss of individualism in the attempt to integrate with a larger society. The reaction of society to a local culture may tend towards trivialization, feminization. There's a paper/book on this somewhere, on feminization of indigenous cultures as a tool of colonialism. Try Homi Bhaba at wiki i think.

  • vague, I know. google land of intuit for synopsis

  • what is the point of the deaf chick?!

isnt the point of this thing SOUND?

  • my mom's dead already. What should I do?

  • hall out the beer and start drinking lol

  • amazing!

  • I've got no problem with one person holding that view but when people start teaching Creationism on an equal footing with evolution to kids (Kansas I think), that's going way too far.

  • Well said, my friend

  • how did this get 10 good comments?

  • Well done, birdie!
