Hey dude, thanks for this tip man. I discovered I have the iphone 1st gen. then I tried jail breaking it and it almost worked until the iphone needed to reboot and it just froze. Then I thought I was stuck, because it wouldn't reboot. I then decided to try and restore and was having lots of trouble until I came across this particular video guide. My iphone has been restored so it worked. Right on!! Now, I'd like to try and unlock it again so I may use my t-mobile sim card. Can you help?

OR, instead of putting it in DFU mode like he did, you can just sync and back up your iPhone to your computer, and then simply click the "Restore" button to restore it. Much simpler.

So you cant just plug the iPhone into iTunes and just click restore or do you HAVE to hold the buttons til it shuts off etc.

All you have to do is simply plug your iPhone into the computer, and when it's done syncing and backing it up, just click "Restore". Voila.

@AdrianFSoekotjo go to at&t and ask them for a sim card..they WILL give you one FOR FREE...SIM CARDS ARE FREE AT AT&T...OR you can take ur friends or anybody with the same sim card you have and place it in your phone...simply take it back out when you have things up and running again...either of these two solutions should undoubtably work..

@Stroup50 yh what you've done is restored and updated it, so when it updates theres a block that is used sent by apple which bricks the iphone due to being jailbroken and going against apples policy. I had the same done to me, so i handed it to a phone stool, who specialise in phone problems, and they fixed it for a low charge.
