can you please teach me how to make chip music :p feel free to say no but i love the sound of it and i would really like to learn! I originally found it through dubmood...
I have been trying to figure this out- i have played with trackers here and there but am totally confused about assigning the instruments in this one- for some reason every channel just keeps getting assigned to the same instrument for me and I am not seeing any good tutorials out there- any suggestions?
In case you haven't already gotten the answer to the question, after the note there are two digits. They're going to be the digits of the instrument you have highlighted at the time, and that number after the note represents which instrument is going to be played in the channel.
Except in FamiTracker's case the sound waveforms are tied to the channel used. The instruments only consist of envelopes and those are applied to the channel specific sound generators.
You can play 12.5%, 25% and 50% pulse waves on channels 1 and 2, triangle wave with 1-bit volume control on channel 3, different noise patterns (depending on note pitch) on channel 4 and DPCM samples on channel 5. Innanintendostylee.
Yeah, I did it all manually. And actually, the point of this exercise was (more than to make a conversion) to learn to use FamiTracker. And in order not to worry about the music, but to learn technique, I picked some familiar source material that was already as if within 2A03 limitations. /raina
The first step would probably be exporting the .FTM as .NSF. Then using a player/plug-in to write a .WAV, then encode that. Or, to do it properly, transfer the song on a real NES and record it from the audio out. /raina
Where are you getting this ".FTM" & ".NSF" from? I said FTI! I don't have a damn NES. I want to know the simplest way to do it online if there is a way possible. Thank you for your time.
I know you said FTI but I thought that was a typo and you meant songs, not instrument files. Converting .FTI to .MP3? I doubt there's automated conversion for that and frankly I fail to see the point in it. How would the note pitch be decided for example? And why a lossy format like MP3?
If I needed samples of FT instruments, I would write some notes down, export the song and go the route I described above. /raina
Although if you are referring to the fake delay effect at around 0:52, that's just what it is: A fake delay. First, a note is played. Then it is played at lower volume 3 rows later. It all fits on one channel because the actual notes are played on every other (even) row, and their fake delay counterparts are interspaced between them (odd rows). /raina

Would you please upload the FTM or at least the NSF of this song?

WELL DONE!!!!!!
I think you should use the static as drums rather than samples but the melody is absolutely perfect.

How/what do you need for DCPM?
wtfman880 1 year ago
Not sure what you mean exactly, but you can import WAV samples in Famitracker and have some control over the DPCM conversion in the process.

Yeah, neither do I. I guess you should just try tinkering with the thing until something comes up.
Back on topic, this is not something I would listen to while dodging bullets. Good song, though.
