What is it with these Warmongers? I mean, they're these soft bodied pencil necks, that you can tell, if you shouldered them in a supermarket would grovel and try to placate you. But as long as the fighting is done by someone else are eager to get in a conflict.
I love how enties in America like to blame their own side for wars and not Islamic fanatics high on religion who are bent on establishing a universal caliphate on this earth. I understand that are nasty people who use war as a business tool, but they are few in comparison to the nuts who are willing to fly planes into buildings. Its not always our fault you know. DAMN I HATE HIPPIES!
'WE don't leave the battlefield at the first casualty.' I'm no fanatic but it blows my mind how these people can throw around words like WE. I was in Iraq 2006-2008. What is this 'WE' shit Richard Perle. You were never there fuckface!
...and right wing dingleberries say PBS is liberal biased. They see conspiracies everywhere, in the media, the government, in hollywood... what a bunch of paranoid goofballs.
So quick question. I know there are a lot of malcontents here who don't like Perle or the Iraq war very much. However can we at least agree -whether or not HOW it happened or who did it (Bush)- that what actually happened in Iraq -the liberation of 27 million Iraqis- was a very good thing?
How have we won Iraq, what part of our objectives have been acomplished there? We have inadvertantly transfered the power to the Shiites, who is now loyal to Iran, so what was our objectives again? Fighting and more violence still goes on everyday, and 4 million displaced, we destroyed their infrastructure, and now is too broke to rebuild the country, we have failed there miserably, not only for our main aim to maintain hegemony in the middle east, it's a Big Blow to Zionist Israel as well.
The trouble with Perle is that he lives in a pipe dream. His rabid ultra-patriotic fantasies have clouded his objectivity when it comes to geo-politics.
Iraq is a failed state. By the Iraqi government's own admission, their government is plagued with corruption, no more so than in their security forces.
A cease fire has been called temporarily, but according to prominent journalists who have lived in the area, this is only temporary .
Meanwhile, Iraqis continue to die everyday from car bombs and IEDS.
Richard Perle is the man! Keep hitting those points home. At least smart people like Perle,Hitchens,Wolfowitz,Bill Kristol,John Bolton still defend it. Keep up the good work guys!
i hate those liberals who think that terrorists can be stopped with touchy-feely hippy legislation. Those people are too spoiled with their comforts safe at home to understand what is going on. Just like Vietnam, people are using the emotion of people being killed to oppose the war. Imagine if those people were around in WWII, what would happen?
1. are they really just brainwashed? 2. how do they get so much power? 3. is itt possible to get that power without being evil? 4. is it possible to have a good life without getting involved? 5. is there a god that you can go to for the answers? 6. how do these people sleep at night? 7. do they have any compassion? 8. do they have a conscience? 9. do they know something we don't know? 10. does he enjoy causing pain? 11. does he believe anything he says? 12. does he even have concern for truth?
I agree this war was about oil and money. It was a win win sitution as long as were there defense contractor will make money. Oil is now a something to invest in since it $4. Fuck this guy and his gang. They hijacked this country power and riches to fight there battles fuck me fuck you and fuck america if I ever met this guy in person i would split in his face.
THERE IS NO EXIT STRATEGY. There were mistakes, just not the mistakes you were told about. Just enough troops were committed to lose which also guaranteed that WE HAD TO STAY & cause enough chaos to get the oil & surround Iran. Now, AS IF BY MAGIC, & just in time for the US elections, we are losing less men. Do you think it just happened that way? The "mistakes" were deliberate, all of them were planned. Pearl is a double agent and proud of it. Pearl; "that's right, I don't care".
We need to mobilize for total war. When Hitler tried to conquer the world we stopped him. Now we're faced with a threat that's just as big & nobody seems to notice. WTF America, it's time to fight! We can save American lives with real war instead of pussyfooting around waiting to get blown up.
The difference between Germany and, the radical Islamists is that Germany was a modern industrial and, military (albiet regional) power. The threat from the Islamists is not the same. They could only plant explosives and, hijack planes to attack us. Hardly the same threat.
The Islamists do not need to be modern and industrial. They just need a country with resources. This is what the Nazi did with Germany. The Islamists have plenty of option. Iraq, Iran, Syria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, UAE, Egypt, Libya, and their goal, Europe.
While many of those countries have great resources, they lack the technology to produce a strong, conventional force, capable of doing what the Germans did. Most also don't have the population of willing soldiers, nor the organization to train what they have to make a formidible conventional force.
They also won't have Europe, since the outcome of the forthcoming Muslim population growth will lead to societal upheaval, or a secularization of the Muslims.
Listen to the man instead of writing things you have no idea what your talking about. You people make me sick and you shame the memory of our troops. Mr. Perle is a good man, you should read some of his work.
I hate how mothers call their grown sons children just because they may be their progeny. We have a VOLUNTEER military entirely composed of adults. Those are MEN and WOMEN who serve the country in Iraq and they knew what they were signing up for. Doesn't mean the occupation wasn't a TERRIBLE idea, but it does mean we should avoid introducing emotion into the issue. We all feel bad for them, that's not the point.
I agree, of coarse they're sad their sons died but at least they died defending freedom. Protesting won't bring them back & if they knew how serious the problem really is then they would be on the streets proclaiming their sons & daughters bravery. They would be right to do so too.
They died defending freedom? Please stop saying that shit! PLEASE?! There is too much information out here for you to write that garbage...
I'm glad you at least have sympathy for the parents, but your lack of presence of mind will surely lead to further loss of life and you sentiments will do none of these people (or future families) any good.
To quote Senator Mike Gravel: "They died for nothing. NOTHING."
They do die defending freedom. To say anything else is to dishonor their life and their service to their country. The war against islamic terrorists is necessary and justified. Mike Gravel is an idiot. I'm just a guy living in South East Pennsylvania, my point of view has no effect on what the president decides for our troops. The U.S. thanks Australia for your five year military contribution to the Iraq war. It was short but it is appreciated.
I'm an american living abroad whose viewpoint (when a part of a collective voice) has ample effect on what the president decides for the military. The invasion of Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism (but it sure does now). We can't invade countries and kill their citizens and not expect a percentage of them to fight back. Were it us whose countries sovereignty were infringed upon, many of us would do just that... fight back. As we should.
They're fellow human beings. They deserve respect.
Agreed. I feel bad for soldiers dying, but as you pointed out. No civilian is FORCED to go into combat. People SIGN UP for the army.
And when you join the army, what the FUCK do you think you're getting into if NOT getting shot at? Many people sign up to the army with the mindset that they're going to "shoot some towel heads" etc.
Well, frankly, when you join the army, you're signing up with a higher than normal chance that you will die.
If you don't support the war, then why do you join the military? Son, you are in the your profession, be a lawyer or a doctor instead. Leave the wars to the patriots and soldiers.
terrorism is "killing innocent people for political reasons", no matter who does it. What is done by a suicide bomber is called terrorism as much as what is done with sophisticated aircrafts and laser-guided bombs.
If Perle's central reason for going into Iraq was "to remove Saddam Hussein", he was very much out of step with the rest of the administration. Bush repeatedly stated immediately before the war that even if Saddam and his family left the country the US was still going to invade.
Are the people our troops killing in the middle east good people or bad people? If they are good that makes our troops and commanders ignorant and murderers. Are they?NO!
I get the strong feeling that both the NeoCons AND the Islamists are the enemy. They deserve each other. Now, if only they could leave the rest of us to live in freedom and peace, that would be great.
hopkins reported that 600,000 people died in iraq and that 30% of the deaths have been caused by the coalition. 49% by foreign al qaida operatives(who wouldn't be there if america didn't invade) and the other 21% by the iraqi army police and the shia government. what a good idea invading iraq was. why don't you go over there and tell the people who mourn at a mass grave what a good idea invading iraq was

But if you attempt an actual argument with a modern paper of opposite politics, you will find that no medium is admitted between violence and evasion." - G.K. Chesterton
