How to fix xbox 360 grinding noise & unplayable disc error

It could be that the metal piece in the circle top thing and the spindle magnet don't have a strong enough bond. My Hitachi 47 wouldn't read games until I put a circle top thing from a spare DVD burner on it. It had a strong bond, the real one was weak and wouldn't allow the disc to spin correctly with the spindle.

@TheLonewolf1337 Use qtips ,rubbing alcohol , clean laser lightly .. turn over and using qtips sprayed with wd-40 clean those silver rails good with it . Then a couple drops where the bottom of the motor is . I also re -glued my magnet to the plastic piece that goes with it . Sometimes I still have to open and close tray more than once to get it to play games .

The day before my friends xbox 360 broke he took it apart and it was all open to where you could put in a game like the gamecube of ps2 slim version but with no lid so me and him put in cod world at war and we played zombies funniest thing ever his disk flew out of the xbox like one of those shurikens and implanted itself into the wall and inch deep and then the xbox literally disintagrated and the funny thing was his cat hit the disk while it was spinning and it sounded "RRRRR TINK CRACK POP"

i had this. unfortunately i never had the right tool to open my xbox with. so i smashed it up instead. Took out the controller ports. Soldered them to a usb and now i use my xbox controllers on my pc via usb :)

Thank you very much, I found a solution similar to this...just push down with your index finger on the top of the Xbox 360, in about the middle of the disc tray

Redo this on a surface that doesn't sound like nails on a chalkboard, you moved the top piece at least 10 times.

If you use the gray circle piece with no lid it will fly off and the disc too or it will burn your finger

but yes i used poster puddy and if you hold the right pressure on it does work but thats obviously not a permanent fix.

that happened to me. All you have to do is download the disc to your hardrive and it will work. If it won't let you download it to your xbox, use someone elses disc to do it

My 360 had the same grinding the problem. I looked over every video on youtube. I tried the magnets, the motor, and the paper trick. In the end, TWO SCREWS WERE LOOSE. So, check the simplest things first,make sure all the screws are in tight. That fixed mine. Good luck.
