  • The best demo in YT. Perfect!!!

  • But... Can it make me pancakes?

  • do you need a special pickup t o be installed like the vg-99?

  • Ahh! He is just amazing! great examples

  • useful demo, thanks.

  • Stop spending money on expensive flight lessons!

Get your own brand new car wings today!

  • Step backwards from the GR30 as you can’t edit patches anywhere near the same depth as the ’30’ especially when ‘midiing 'up to a keyboard players rig live and need to turn off patch change etc... bummer!

  • Careful !!! Don’t stand on the 13 pin lead or you’ll destroy it breaking the flimsy inner cables rendering the whole system useless! And at around $80 AUD it hurts to replace.Symptoms of a damaged lead are false triggered notes when cable is moved and midi glitches sent to externally hooked up midi devices. ouch!!! Roland needs to beef up this weak link. Cheers.

  • БАД! Ананий твой друг! Педрила волосатое!

  • GREAT Vid Alex :-)

  • most of them useless sounds

  • Alex, what would you say is the highest you've ever been?

  • I still prefer the Roland GR 30 the ones after that did not come any where near it, The GR20 has a limited amount choice patchesto use, the other sounds were Naff. All the sounds you are hearing are already in the GR30..so why buy this module when their is no added improvement, what a waste and I have used Guitar Synths for years...TC

  • hello, I'm from BRAZIL, I'm using a translator to be able to leave a comment sorry some text error ok, I watched your video I felt very good congratulations to continue to post videos, beautiful guitar hugs.

  • I love the way the blending sounds!

  • wats the saxophone song? and or tabs? :) much luv

  • @WorseThanFriday

Why would someone take valuable time and energy out of their daily routine just to tab some quick random thing from a synth demo just for you? Do you really think you're that special? Jeez, just learn it by ear, it's really not that hard.

  • @WoWintosh haha, easy big fella. thanks for breaking your "routine" to reply

  • i knew it... All of you guitarists are trying to put the rest of us musicians out of a job!!

  • I believe you've effectively done two things in this demo. You've made me want to own it so bad, and you made that guitar your complete bitch. Impressive sir.

  • brilliant!

  • WTF?!?!

    How?!

    what?!

  • 446 happy guitarists, 7 fired keyboardists

  • Esse é o cara.

  • In some respects the sound is irrelevant. It's any midi sound you like. The question is how well does it trigger ?

Very well by the look of it. Unless of course it's Alex's clean technique making it look easier than it is for us mere mortals !

  • Thanks Alex - it was all going really top draw until the Yank started in.

Your piece = EXCELLENT. Thank You.

  • i bought this piece of shit few years ago and it has delay on the fast playing is not coming out good.

  • GOTTA LOVE THE DRUMMERS IN THE BACK ROUND

  • I was going to press like, but it has 420 likes atm :(

  • are this sound straight out of the box????

  • 1:37-1:42 is that a song?

  • OOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!

  • Cool guitar

  • What would be the difference between using the GR 20 with or without the GK3?

    Tx

  • @shelyl

You either need a GK3(GK2/A) or a midi guitar with a 13 pin to interface with the GR-20.The pickup itself makes no difference in the tones/patches available, but with the GK-3 you can put the switch in the middle position, and blend the GR-55 with your guitar's normal sound.Hope this helps!

  • @Bowtie41 Thank you, have been very helpful. By the way, nice online shop you have!!!

  • Actually this Unit is only limited by how much "Refer" you smoke during any given time!!!......:)

  • That looks like a caparison with the head stock filled in........

  • @6project6nightmare6 I think it is a Brian Moore :)

  • gr 20 or gr 33? what's better?

  • gr 20 or gr 33?

  • gr 20 or gr 33?

  • i it doesnt have every sound in there

it doesnt have a triangle sound in there.

  • @playNsleep the gr55 does lol

  • can i use this with a Line 6 m13 and record?

  • what song did he play on the baritone sax and the horn section??

  • the squeeze box blew my face off.

  • sabri lan bu

  • Important question, does this work outside standard tuning?

  • Thanks for the Video

  • You need to have a hex pickup. These can be add-on units that you can buy. The rotary speaker sound simulations are included.

  • Do i have to customize my guitar(ie, install something) in order to use it?

  • Do the organ sounds come with rotary speaker simulations? If not, I might need to get the Neo Instruments Ventilator for the rotary sound.

  • yo vendo el mio lo use muy poco a $7500 mexico DF.

  • hey can some one help me .. i was wondering about buy a guitar syntetixer and i aimmed the gr20 but the lattest gr55 just came out.. i know that gr55 have guitarra effects ass well but i allreaddy have the gt 10.. so the question is .. is the gt 10 and gr20 combo the same like a gr 55 or is it better to buy the gr 55 anyway'? please someone helpme

  • @rudessdfdf better to buy the GR55 it does alternate tunings and guitar models and awesomness the tracking is better you get more sounds better sounds AND two PCM synth engines along with a gt10 basically in it and a VG 99 only problem wiht the gr55 is i dont have one ;)

  • @94Alexcarney thanks

  • can someone help me ? i want a pedal that just has the 3:20 sound.. Maybe the piano in the beginning aswell :)

  • Can someone help me to get a pedal for the 3:20 sound

  • so what does the GK-3 pickup do? it sounds the same without it as it does with it

  • Spectorman09 -

The GR-33 is discontinued. The GR-20 came out and probably killed the sales of the hard to operate GR-33. Roland is now saying that the GR-20 has replaced the GR-33.

The GR-20 has all the same patches as the GR-33 but is LOTS easier to operate especially live.

    Big Ron

  • @Vermillion2176 hey can some one help me .. i was wondering about buy a guitar syntetixer and i aimmed the gr20 but the lattest gr55 just came out.. i know that gr55 have guitarra effects ass well but i allreaddy have the gt 10.. so the question is .. is the gt 10 and gr20 combo the same like a gr 55 or is it better to buy the gr 55 anyway'? please someone helpme

  • This guy is awesome.

  • these are discontinued. shame.

  • is it possible to modify the sounds with fruity loops?

    that would be awesome

  • @SuperRockingMrMagic GR-20 has midi output so you can hook that up to your computer via Midi-to-USB connection, and then control FL Studio with it.

  • is the gk-3 pickup necessary with the pedal?

  • @themedicinemanftw you need some sort of midi pickup..if you have a midi guitar it will work..

  • reminds me of peter andre wi long hair

  • holy crap that is amazing!!

  • I have the same guitar. I have yet to get a synth box for it though.

  • 2 questions....

    1. Can you use the GR-20 with a normal cable instead of a 13-pin?

    2. Can you use the guitar alone and then change to the GR-20 effects without another pedal or a GK-3?

    PD: MAN, YOU'RE AWESOME!!!!!!!! :D

  • Man, you're so great!

  • @PauloDJ2

you need a 13 pin cable..there is so much info being sent that 13 pin is needed..sucks because you can get a wireless midi set up but not for 13 pin cables..

not sure what you mean by the 2nd question..

  • This sounds sounds so cool...I've got to have one...if I can actually afford one or not is an other matter.....

  • OMFG!! Im getting one! Gona be fun as hell with my Boss loopstation.

  • Damn I need one!!

  • Cool!!!

  • this guy looks like ronald mcdonald

  • This guy is awesome.

  • i love the sitar effect

  • @joserock2587 Yea its like my favorite one. And the strings/violins.

  • Can some please name the tunes in 1:37, 1:53 and 2:06? Thanks

  • So this would actually work without the GK-3?

  • @davesabog No The GK3 transmits the information to the GR20 which processes the synth. sounds. The magnetic p/u's mean you can also play the guitar as a "normal" guitar either separately or combined with the synth.

  • @kingstumble

Thanks man. But I'm still confused, what he has here is just the GK cable or something? I couldn't see the GK-3 or a special pickup installed.

  • @davesabog It is quite confusing.Alex is playing a Brian Moore iguitar which has a built in GK3(to be accurate it's not strictly a GK3 but a hex p/u which works in exactly the same way) but it's hidden so you can't see it! There are also other brands which have a similar set up-Godin and Carvin come to mind.

The GK cable is able to carry the signal from both the hex p/u for the synth sounds AND the magnetic pickups so you don't need a separate cable for the "standard" guitar sound.Clever eh?

  • It's all very well to say "just buy a synth" Mr.Poserexposer but what about guitar players like me who are useless on keyboards, but would like to add a few extra sounds to our recordings?

    This is meant for us.

  • be cheaper to just buy a synth...id prefer something that made you create a sound, like with osccilators...

  • Gosh... So cheesy... I cant imagine someone 'serious' using all those sounds in a song.... I'd only buy that if I had a lotta spare money... A lot...

  • amazing - I need to get one of these, fast!

  • love d faces he makes!!

  • tht is cool

  • What I don't understand is why is the GR-20 more advanced than the GR-30? Usually it's the other way around isn't it? I mean the higher number is usually the later version, right?

  • MUY BUENO! Comentá tambien mi video.

  • oh god i want one

  • alex hutchings is the guy i can imagine that could convince me to buy something like this.

  • @TheWhocares233

    me also wanna know :?

  • What's the name of the song he plays at 1:00 ? Right after the stevie wonder song. i feel dumb for asking, but can't remember for the life of me.

  • @phadedlife extreme - play with me

  • @phadedlife Superstition.

  • The cheesy synth sounds, soprano and alto sax, plus a few other, like the electric keyboard sounds are a bit '80s sounding for my taste.

The strings, piano, organ, sitar, bass, tenor sax, trumpet and the blend of two combined are what would make this expensive pedal worth it.

My question? How would this sound on a Humbucker equipped Les Paul Guitar?

  • @AllBluesCat It would sound exactly the same because the sounds are being transmitted via the built in Roland GK p/u,not by the guitar's magnetic p/u's.

  • Is this thing really that hard to install? People complain that it is so hard to install, I don't know, does anyone know

  • alex hutchings is such a gun!

  • holy shit I want one!

  • Is there an acoustic guitar in there?

  • He is really are great guitar player ~ he's really can show what the products is ~ 2:06 mark me smile XD ~~

  • This guy can really play...

  • man..!! i'm gettin' one..it's useful for recording

  • Why is it that we cant see the GK3 split pickup or controller on these guitars ???

  • @thunder3552 I think, it has already a built-in pickup for this, so no need for extra GK3-pickup.

  • I can see a ROLAND FC-300 wohoo! thats the midi pedalboard I got

  • nice man.... i like i a lot

and you rock with that little synth

  • That guitar is definitely NOT a Maton bro. This dude is rad.

  • damn its not loger a guitar :)

  • what amp?!?!?!

  • I think you give the best sampling of what this thing is capable of. Nice guitar work!

  • the player makes every instrument on this sound great with proper style and technique!!

    nice job!

  • very good. If I could do what I do in a guitar and use that same feel and technique on this thing. This is Awesome.

  • i like this guy lol

  • this guy is really great

  • ha, his face at 4 seconds.

    good Vid :)

  • love the patch at 3:15 and what he is playing

  • truc de fou

  • Do anybody knows what he plays around 1:37 or is he just playing something randome?

  • Ein guter Überblick über den Guitar Synth

  • this is awesome.. just what i need for RnB and making it sound like a piano =___________= since i can't play one

  • nice to see a top player balls it up now again like i do ALL the time

  • Roland Guitar Synth GR-20

  • Comment removed

  • so pedals to change patches?

  • so COOL!! i'm so gonna wish for a gr20 for my birthday! :D

  • Goooood Performance!! I also have GR20.

I cant do as you are playing!!

  • geil

  • lordsong7 is right. This is Brian's Moore (USA made) emerald green model "iguitar 9.13". They are good, little expensive but worth it. Some models look similar to ESPs

  • The guitar is a Brian Moore iGuitar - made in the USA

the synth pickup is inside the guitar - like Godin or Carvin synth access guitars

  • this was pretty funny. awesome concept

  • Fuck the concept! Listen to the sounds a guitarist can do :D :D :D

  • Comment removed

  • why? because this is not really playing guitar , and bla bla bla?

  • what guitar is he using ?

  • That, I'm pretty sure is a Maton.

    They're Australian.

  • so do you have to install something on your guitar or can you use it just like a stompbox?

  • yeah have to put the midi pickup on the guitar. I used to have one, no complaints, it was just more of a toy for me. Don't worry about the guitar, Roland includes sticky tape to mount the pickup. Nothing to screw on the guitar or anything of that nature. i took mine back off and sold the unit and the guitar it was attached to separately and they both still looked mint.

  • @feet2oofast Can u plug your guitar into the pedal, and the pedal into an amp?!

Or does the pedal have to go into a computer :/

    =) =) =)

  • @fredthebluetakman no you dont have to go to a computer. I used to run mine with my podxt/atomic amp setup and then i ran the gr20 to a separate amp, so that my guitar and synth sounds were separated. But to use this you MUST have a GK pickup.

  • @CRBaustintx You have to buy the Pickup.

Its called the Roland GK-3 which you just stick to the guitar or you can Buy the Roland GK Kit which perm is in your guitar and you have to do lots of wireing and stuff.

  • @CRBaustintx I just found out that the GR-20 comes with thee Pickup in the box i think.

  • I like this vid thanks.. Seems kinda weird to use the MIDI pickup on a 3-pickup axe! Like 75% of the pickups are kicked the curb

  • it's alex huitchings?

  • Matiaz11, Yes, it's Alex Hutchings <3 (L)

  • Truly awesome. Superb demo!

  • Awesome!

  • slick

  • hahaha i like how in the 2nd half of the video when hes playing the gk-3 pickup isnt on the guitar hahaha

  • @exile28foo it's because is a guitar designed to support midi stuff. for the regular guitars you'd need the pickup.

probably comes from a video to advertise the pedalboard only?

  • how does the violin sound on it?

  • this is the most amazing pedal i've ever seen in my life

  • You can get that sitar soung only with GR20 or you need something extra??

  • you have to have the pickup that goes with it im pretty sure..not positive

  • @argix69 @argix69 1] you need a guitar 2] it has to have an extra hexaphonic pick-up fitted (you can buy guitars with them fitted ,some times there hidden) it's a thin black bar really close to the bridge and it connects to a controler GK3[etc] 4]have GR20 synth, select bank:Ethnic ...patch 1 = sitar ,2=sitar+morrocan phrase, 3 =sitar+tampura ,4+sitar&drone ,5= electric sitar ,6=sitar&tabla[drum] ,7=sitar &tabla phrase .

5] connect to amp 6]play in the style of a sitar <--very important

  • Comment removed

  • I want one of these so badly but they're like $600 =/

  • @MetalTillDeth44 i know hopefully i'll win lotto soon

  • lol

  • do you actually need the pickup or can you just plug it in
