Step backwards from the GR30 as you can’t edit patches anywhere near the same depth as the ’30’ especially when ‘midiing 'up to a keyboard players rig live and need to turn off patch change etc... bummer!
Careful !!! Don’t stand on the 13 pin lead or you’ll destroy it breaking the flimsy inner cables rendering the whole system useless! And at around $80 AUD it hurts to replace.Symptoms of a damaged lead are false triggered notes when cable is moved and midi glitches sent to externally hooked up midi devices. ouch!!! Roland needs to beef up this weak link. Cheers.

hello, I'm from BRAZIL, I'm using a translator to be able to leave a comment sorry some text error ok, I watched your video I felt very good congratulations to continue to post videos, beautiful guitar hugs.
Why would someone take valuable time and energy out of their daily routine just to tab some quick random thing from a synth demo just for you? Do you really think you're that special? Jeez, just learn it by ear, it's really not that hard.
I believe you've effectively done two things in this demo. You've made me want to own it so bad, and you made that guitar your complete bitch. Impressive sir.
You either need a GK3(GK2/A) or a midi guitar with a 13 pin to interface with the GR-20.The pickup itself makes no difference in the tones/patches available, but with the GK-3 you can put the switch in the middle position, and blend the GR-55 with your guitar's normal sound.Hope this helps!
hey can some one help me .. i was wondering about buy a guitar syntetixer and i aimmed the gr20 but the lattest gr55 just came out.. i know that gr55 have guitarra effects ass well but i allreaddy have the gt 10.. so the question is .. is the gt 10 and gr20 combo the same like a gr 55 or is it better to buy the gr 55 anyway'? please someone helpme
@rudessdfdf better to buy the GR55 it does alternate tunings and guitar models and awesomness the tracking is better you get more sounds better sounds AND two PCM synth engines along with a gt10 basically in it and a VG 99 only problem wiht the gr55 is i dont have one ;)
The GR-33 is discontinued. The GR-20 came out and probably killed the sales of the hard to operate GR-33. Roland is now saying that the GR-20 has replaced the GR-33.

you need a 13 pin cable..there is so much info being sent that 13 pin is needed..sucks because you can get a wireless midi set up but not for 13 pin cables..
@davesabog No The GK3 transmits the information to the GR20 which processes the synth. sounds. The magnetic p/u's mean you can also play the guitar as a "normal" guitar either separately or combined with the synth.
@davesabog It is quite confusing.Alex is playing a Brian Moore iguitar which has a built in GK3(to be accurate it's not strictly a GK3 but a hex p/u which works in exactly the same way) but it's hidden so you can't see it! There are also other brands which have a similar set up-Godin and Carvin come to mind.
The GK cable is able to carry the signal from both the hex p/u for the synth sounds AND the magnetic pickups so you don't need a separate cable for the "standard" guitar sound.Clever eh?
It's all very well to say "just buy a synth" Mr.Poserexposer but what about guitar players like me who are useless on keyboards, but would like to add a few extra sounds to our recordings?
What I don't understand is why is the GR-20 more advanced than the GR-30? Usually it's the other way around isn't it? I mean the higher number is usually the later version, right?
@AllBluesCat It would sound exactly the same because the sounds are being transmitted via the built in Roland GK p/u,not by the guitar's magnetic p/u's.
lordsong7 is right. This is Brian's Moore (USA made) emerald green model "iguitar 9.13". They are good, little expensive but worth it. Some models look similar to ESPs

The cheesy synth sounds, soprano and alto sax, plus a few other, like the electric keyboard sounds are a bit '80s sounding for my taste.
The strings, piano, organ, sitar, bass, tenor sax, trumpet and the blend of two combined are what would make this expensive pedal worth it.
My question? How would this sound on a Humbucker equipped Les Paul Guitar?
AllBluesCat 1 year ago
@AllBluesCat It would sound exactly the same because the sounds are being transmitted via the built in Roland GK p/u,not by the guitar's magnetic p/u's.
