Hi there, this is Angie...i would like to let you know that you've done a marvelous job playing this piece by Marvin Hamlisch...love it... your piano sounds wonderful as well...keep up the good job...i can't play, however, i can sing...our Dad used to play the piano...thanks for sharing...
Thank you Sara! I wish I could do the piano and you sing this one together again like we did before! That video was so awesome, and I liked it so much! I like your soft voice and your singing of this song was so beautiful.. I felt I was honored to play the piano for your singing.
it was really an honor for me to sing along your great performance and i will definitively do it again once i get a chance to record properly. Good night!
I sang this as a child and recording it again soon. There are many renditions of this classic here in you tube. You are the only one who plays it with exquisite tenderness and sincerity. It is so heartfelt. I love that you kept it simple and no frills. It is exceptionally beautiful. You delivered the correct emotional intensity. Thanks for posting.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! I am very glad. I'd love to hear you sing this song! Please let me know if you record and upload it. Thank you again!
Thank you for your comment, and I'm glad that you liked it! As to MP3 version, I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with this kind of stuff. Hope someone else will be able to assist you.
Thank you very much! Wow, you actually know Marvin and his Dad??? That'd be so cool! Please send my best regards to him and tell him, "Thank you for composing this wonderful piece!" if you have a chance.
His dad is long gone and this was 45 years ago.I met him through his cousin Freddy who brought me from the bronx to manhattan to meet the dad.He only took advanced students. I was just 13 and not advanced. I did however have perfect pitch and reluctently the father
took me as a student( $5.00 per 1/2 hour). A tidy sum back in 62-63.I never kept in touch with Marvin or Freddy.I wanted to play guitar in a rock'n' roll band. They lived in a brownstone near the Planetarium in NYC( 81st I beleive).
I did want to recall a childhood memory and in 98 or 99 I tried( sucessfully) to find the Brownstone( not an easy task because there were alot of brownstones on that street). The thing I remember most about it was the smell of burnt rubber. The floors of the building had these black rubber mats covering them. They occupied the first floor. His father wasn't that famous. His claim to fame was playing the opening on a show called "The Gary Moore" show in the 50's. I think that was it.
Thank you for the fine performance!I'm going to listen to your rendition of Traumerei right now. One of my favs.I remember Horowitz in Russia, closing his performance with it. Not a dry eye in the audience. That was also "ragged" by Jolson back in 1911 or so. Interesting to hear.I have that recording if your interested.Or its easily available for downloading. Again, thank you!
Thank you again! My Traumerei is not very good (you'd notice that some of the comments are not favorable..). Regarding classical piano music, I've been self-taught, so there are some parts where interpretation is not appropriate.
It's how you interpret the music that matters not the critics.Thats part of the fun in playing an instrument. Imagine if we all interpreted music the same way? What a bore it would be.
Do you think there is a way I could get that sheet music? Can you send it to me by e-mail or something? Like it was said in an earlier post, the arrangement is utterly beautiful. One of the greatest song by the greatest singer who ever lived!
Thank you for your comment, and I am glad to know that you like this piece. Why don't you give me your mailing address in a separate email to my YouTube account with your mailing address (in Canada?)? In return, I will let you know my home address (USA) as well as the way you can get the sheet music.
I am glad you liked it. Well, the publisher for the sheet music is Toshiba-EMI Music Publishing Co., Ltd. I think this was arranged (I guess, nearly 20 years ago) by one of the professional Japanese pianist/composer of the present time for the lesson program on TV. I am afraid it is no longer published now, though.
I would love to see you play this piece! Looking forward to watching your video. Good luck^^
I love this song so much and you play it beautifully. I think the arrangement is especially nice and it sounds like the sort of thing I would soon learn, would you let me know the name of the book it is from/publisher/etc.

Very well done!Nice style. I love the change at 1:53. Marvins dad was my piano teacher.
( true). Marvin was still going to college at that time( Queens I beleive). Marvin tested me for pitch( it was perfect).Past history.
As for you? Keep up the good work and stick with it.

A stunning rendition! Well done! The lovely song is stripped of all embellishment, and what remains is sweet -even bittersweet - but satisfying!
