  • lol

  • Do you use the same exact sound on each side or you change them a bit?

  • "Im using a single sm57 to mic my speaker" 0:56.

    He says mic...

  • mat damon wtf

  • A friend? Shit..

  • if you have the right room, mics and preamps and enough channels on your interface, i prefer recording a guitar with two mics infront of the speaker and a room micing.

  • This is why Matt Damon is my favorite actor

  • why don't you ever talk man??

is your english not very good?

    just wondering...

  • Thanks for making the video, it helps a lot. Which software do you use for recording? answer please :)

  • @juanfenderibanez he uses logic

  • @juanfenderibanez Well he was using logic in this

  • AMAZING!!!!

  • does anyone know the recording system hes using or know a good recording system to use that i can download online for free.

  • Stupid

  • Now That's What I Call ̶M̶u̶s̶i̶c̶ Metal!!!

  • THANKS MATT DAMON! :D

  • what program do you use?

  • SO HARDCORE :O

  • "we are anonymous, we are legion, we do not forgive, we do not forget, expect us"

  • "I am using a single shoower esss emmmmm fifty-seven to MICK my SPAKER"

  • matt damown? wtf?

  • Fucking brutal? Made me LOL

  • Humor........... oh, you mean humour. "Where did it all go right?" - The Producers. Genius.

  • what did you put it on bass, medium and treble?

    thanks!

it helped me a lot |m|

  • will a rockband mic do....hahahah. well actually ok :P

  • Wow.....i love it...wish i understood it...

  • What a load of rubbish. And why the swearing?

  • @clangerlover Because it's what the fucking cool kids do.

  • @pmanderson Ah... swearing makes you cool, well I never did. It's so easy being cool then, wow.

  • @clangerlover Well, that's what people believe anyway. Especially here on the internet.

  • @clangerlover It's called-Humor

  • @rawg277201 Humor?

  • Do the batteries of active pickups get continously weaker and change the sound or is the sound the same until the batteries are completely empty? I thought it would work normal or then not all, but not that the sound will get weak.

  • @MicrowavesFromSpace It takes a while for the batteries to get low enough to where you would actually notice.

  • @cw5394 Okay, thanks guys ;)

  • what song at start

  • This video made me laugh :D

  • Voice = Text to Speech

  • great man11!

  • I love this disclaimer!!!! Can I quote it as the "OlaEngLund" license:

"so if you disagree on some part of this (video) then keep it to yourself or do your own goddamn (video) :D" where (video) is replaced by the media type:-)?

  • What software do you use?

  • That's not Matt Damon. It's Stephen Hawking.

  • Comment removed

  • lol. fucking brutal thats what i call metal xD

  • Are those drums out of a VSTi plugin or real drums recorded before?

  • good recording man, now u just need better drums, hit me up

  • 2:05 EPIC FACE! XD

  • i think that old strings sound better ..

  • I have a quick question. Im not using a microphone right now but i am using a behringer guitar link which is an interface. Im plugging my marshall MG too that and then recording on soundwave and it keeps giving me a very dull sound, but through my amp it sounds perfect. any advice?

  • OH YEAH THIS ROCKS!! BLEEP! BLOP BLOP BLOP! BLEEP! BLOP BLOP BLOP!! \m/

  • Best part in this for me was that Matt Damon was demoing "fucking brutal" using my exact home based setup. Haha.

  • fucking brutal

  • but Matt, I don´t have a messa boogie :( lol

  • @humbertobolillo that was a framus cobra. or do you mean the cab?

  • Hi... Im matt Damon... HAAAA! fukn genius ily

  • Anyone know a good substitute for the apogee one? One that is compatible with windows.

  • @Cameron1469 tascam us 144 mkII :p

  • hey ola, at what record do you usually record? i'm a total beginner and dunno if i should either turn up the amp and keep the recorded signal lower or keep the amp volume low and amplify the microphone siganl. cheers.

  • @Heineken1712 Always turn the amp up more. You get more bottom end, more tube saturation (if your using a tube amp), and a more powerful sound cause you really get those speakers moving and pushing air. A cranked amp sounds louder when recorded similar to it sounding louder in the room, make sense?

Then after following his advice on here, your recording level, or your preamp level, should never be clipping, or "in the red" that will cause digital distortion and fuck everything up. 75-80% is cool

  • @JoeyRec hey thanks for the detailed answer!

  • Didn't sound great, but this was really entertaining :L

  • Wow he didnt really do anything complicated with EQing on the guitars. Lesson learned - do not over eq

  • That's just awesome, asskickery at it's finest, Matt Damon is the metal lord!!!

  • program?

  • Is it strange that I'm watching this over and over just because it's so funny?

  • Fucking Brooooootal lmao

  • Maaaaat Daaayymmuunnn....

  • Yo Matt, are the drum tracks live or from ezdrummer or something. And thanks for the info!

  • Matt Damon: Closet metal superhero!

  • why do you sound like a robot.

  • give me your setup please

  • whats the name of the program :)

  • i'm the fucking moon man

  • hey man! that was fucking brutal but what computer software did u use? is it downloadable? can you give us some links man.

  • @akosiredred its logic pro 9, mac only, i got it from the one and only pirate bay.

  • Fucking Brutal at the end. Too funny.

  • Best tutorial ever.

  • what program is that?

  • @jewjewjew18 and btw sick riff!

  • @jewjewjew18 logic mayebe

  • Cool video man. One question: since I don't have a good microphone, do you think it could be a good idea to link my computer to the amp's headphones exit? I've tried, it doesn't sound so bad...

  • @jacolmes you can do that if your amp has a headphone/line out. will not sound as good as with a properly miced speaker, but MUCH better than with a webcam or similar,

  • Ok after getting these great tracks recorded. How do you sync the track with a video so you can put it on Youtube.

  • what is connecting the sm57 to the interface? is it an xlr adaptor to an instrument cable?

  • @MrJakebeaman most likely an xlr to usb

  • As Queer as Matt Damon!

  • HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA funny shit

  • lol love the end Fucking Brutal!

  • The dislike bar is like a ninja. You know it's there but you can't fucking see it.

  • IM FUCKING MATT DAMON

    MAAAAAATT DAAAAAAMON

  • WOW! Thanks Matt Damon!!

  • Good thing my best friend is an audio nerd - I never have to worry about any of this, I just have to let him know if I like the sound or not.

  • that's what u call metal? this is pussy music, hyper producing metal is senseless, get it RAW

  • @marcoslctaranta Lol xD I think this is the first time that I see a BMTH fan commenting on a metal video that its "pussy music". Where is your logica??

  • @iEADGBE I'm not a BMTH fan, if you see my channel correctly I've made a cover for darkthrone song, I'm a big old school metal fan, it just appears that I like BMTH songs, what I've said is that metal isn't pussy music, instead it is meant to be played RAW, overproducing it is pussy

  • @Bigvbadosker that has to be the dumbest statement I have ever heard! Lmfao! Look turn the amp down and actually get some education in looks like you need it dumb ass

  • watching this makes me feel like a dumb ass lol i only know how to play guitar and thats it

  • I have enough sound proofing in my litle shed for the master volume to be up quite high, so it colours the sound perfectly, but I'm still having just a little trouble with the recorded guitars, as they have an annoying buzz or hiss when recording... Plus I can't hear the stupid metronome because the levels are dictated by the Apogee ONE... Just wondering if backing the mic away a couple inches again might make the recording device cope better at volume. Thanks

  • and whats the name of the software?

  • I love metal. I love you.

  • Record 2 hi gain guitars panned 100% L and R. The do 2 more with less gain, slightly different EQ 50% L and R and drop the vol by about half. Great way to fatten the tone.

  • Lol, Matt Damon.

  • Thanks, Matt Damon!

  • yea, i agree. its always better to get the perfect tone first, rather than equalize it to death. ROFLMAO

  • first you need an expencive amp isnt it? :P

  • You look like a straight up fag! Hahaha

  • @k2boarder2007 So then you should really like him then huh fagot?

  • 1:35 haha it's difficult with one hand huh?^^

  • Matt Damon WTF?!

  • That you Matt Damon

  • do you take a midi file for the bass guitar?

  • what is your program of recording ?

  • @jimakosmetalman Logic 9, he said it in the video

  • @jimakosmetalman Logic 9, but it's only for MAC...

  • Matt Damon sure knows how to give a good tutorial!

  • what program is that ?

  • @ElaaxV Logic 9.

  • Nice one mate. Personally, my last track had up to 8 layered/panned guitars :D

  • Insightful and hilarious.

  • Whoa. Nice simple tutorial, but the... voice acting :D... made it all perfect.

  • if you put the mic up your ass it's going to sound like shit

just like the voice in this video. LOL

other than that \m/ nice video

  • @thorazine100mg You know it's a synthesized voice from a utility in windows, right?

  • Y'know, I always thought that Matt Damon was like a Streisand, but he's rocking the shit in this one

  • "Fucking brutal. That's what I call metal."

got me laughing so hard 'cause I was headbanging and everything.

I really miss recording. Bass really makes all the difference.

  • Eh... I always thought you recorded it directly... No wonder.. Picks up every little scratch

  • hilarious! XD!!!! And cheers for the mic tip!

  • What recording program is that?

  • @Ekofu I think he said Logic 9

  • what kind of mic would you guys suggest for recording at home?

i wanna start making covers on youtube and recording some random stuff for fun.

im not looking for like top grade professional quality here just something for a hobby cause right now all i have is a rock band 2 microphone which sucks.

    under $150-200 would be great!

  • @michaelbryant21 I use Magix music maker, but I record straight from the pedalboard into the PC. You can get a nice sound if you're patient. Magix is good I think, particularly for it's price. Check one of my recordings. /watch?v=5tNVpZDtNjY

  • nice...thnks man... \m/

  • what recording software is that? and will this work if you have mixcraft?

  • Thanks Matt Damon!

  • Matt Damon is a liberal pussy.

  • @mesa401 LOL, so true. Fuck his bitch ass!

  • "Now add in a bass guitar"

:P and you can't hear the bass.

    Yup that's metal.

  • "fucking brutal, that's what i call metal"

    LOL!

  • "Now you can start to tweak the amplifier..."

*puts everything to at max, thumbs up*

  • Fucking awesome amigo.......do you have anything on recording metals vocals?

  • So now Anonymous is gonna take over the metal industry?

  • @Bubbafett250 I hope so

  • Fucking brutal. That's what I call metal.

    hahahahahaa

  • @matheuswylde hahaha that was ripper

  • I prefer wooden guitars.

  • It sounds fucking amazing! what guitar are you using?

  • damn these mic's are expensive!

  • Actually very good info. Thanks!

  • I wish I could do something like this, but I have a webcam microphone. Sucks to use that.

  • what software are you useing?

  • @HELLRAZER1011 Logic 9

  • @HELLRAZER1011 Looks like Logic Pro

  • Is this a voice generating software or what? Fucking brutal. :D

  • If you have a looper pedal you can just loop a line while finding your preferred mic placement.

  • Very informative, the "Fucking Brutal" made me laugh out loud.

  • Couldn't have picked a better amp to record with. Unless you get a hand wired:) (I have one, be jealous)

  • thanks matt

  • HI MATT DAMON

  • another ukf dubstep tutorial?

  • @fearedse sorry i cant get it ^^ whats the name of your micro?

  • @stringslayer97 SM57

  • fucking brutal!

  • man i fucking love this dude

  • what programs is he using to record his guitar?

  • Is it important to record two guitar tracks? Or will duplicating work?

  • @P4nzerk93 Duplicating the same recording on another track will just make the recording sound lot louder. Even if you play the EXACT same riff on another track (recording it again), it'll sound wider and a lot better. It's always better to record at least two tracks of guitar, even if it's the same thing being played. You should pan the tracks left and right as well, which will make the whole thing sound a lot bigger.

    Hope this helped :)

  • @Murkyftw Thank you.

  • @P4nzerk93 Like the video said, you can record 4 tracks for the rhythm guitars (for example) and pan them differently, for a huge sound. 100% left, 50% left, 50% right and 100% right, for example.

  • "fucking brutal!" that part made me laugh sooo hard hahahahaha

  • But HOW U GET DAT BASS TONE!?

  • Matt Damon LOL
