This is a great song. I was never a TB fan but love this song. I think his brain went soft this week a when he made those statements about legalizing all drugs (like Amsterdam) after Whitney Houston's tragic death. What is he thinking?
Tony had to do some "horse-trading" with Mitch Miller to record this (he still dislikes this record)- it was a matter of "You record this, and I'll let you record whatever you want for your next release".
One of the best from summer of 1957! I remember going into the litte sound booths at The Book Shop in Fitchburg MA - you could play records before buying them. Man those were the days!
Hearing this song way back in the latter 1950s always had me dreaming of leaving New England and moving to warm Hawaii. Well, I made it to Florida! Tony's version of this song is the best; but, Joni James' version is truly wonderful and Ernie Ford's version is nicely upbeat... LG
As much as I enjoy Tennessee Ernie Ford's version,I must confess that Tony Bennett's is more favored by me.Nice to hear this one again. Thanks partner!
This was the very first record I remember ever hearing. I was three years old and recall my older brother (11) playing it over and over again. Too young to remember the words but I sure can remember the tune.
Well, I had just about forgotten this song! Thanks for the memory ... It was popular when I was demobbed from the Cate (Army) in '57 ... After not hearing it for all these years; I think I can still remember most of the words (as in 'Halcyon';) ... PJP :)
Great song! But I can't find the flip side "I Am" ANYWHERE. :-( It is also wonderful tune by Tony and should have been a hit but it has slipped into obscurity.

Great early hit by Tony Bennett. Along with Firefly it is one of his forgotten great recordings.
