  • hey check it out : /watch?v=j4h0XZxRJTs

  • what size pads?

  • Lol

  • Yeah I agree with that one guy the most rebounds this goalie has a rough time with are those shots to the chest but damm that's some good movement and endurance to be constantly doing these drills over and over nice work!

    Sent from my iPhone

  • thank you dude! i've practiced and practiced butterfly slides. ive watched goalies do it and tried to learn from it, but this vid and stephon from jon elkins goalie school has helped me get it down, its been a full year and the other day i got it down both with my right and left leg. im gonna keep practicing it til i get it down perfect, just wanted to say this has been a great vid to learn from

  • you play for the grads!

  • any words of wisdom for young goalies out there (15)

  • @layner3123 Haha just don't quit.

  • great, but dont use that goofy food. you are great man, respeckt!

  • Great skating footwork, and speed,,,, sort of odd stop and go skating drills with out. The shots are scripted and you can see that. When the shot goes somewhere else you dont react properly. Its also clear absorbing the puck in your chest is your biggest weakness, lots of rebounds.

  • @sebt10 the shots arent scripted you dumbass..he reacts as properly as it gets for his age..he clears or covers every rebound and always stops the second shot. fuck off

  • Great skating and footwork, your coach really likes you playing a compact butterfly eh?

  • @multipass613 Where were the shots taken from by the Ottawa Senator?

  • what is your skate blade hollow?

  • Refreshing to see a quick, athletic goalie!

As quick as you move, what really sticks out is that you're under pretty good control in your movements; that's something I need to work on!

Only thing that I would say is try to break the habit of lifting your lead leg when you t-push. Just a wasted movement that makes the push take longer than needed.

Best of luck on your D-1 pursuit!

Oh, and you're wearing the glove on the wrong hand! :)

  • when you played for calgary did you verse the olds grizzlies?

  • what do you get your skates sharpened at?

  • I just love listening to the sounds of this haha

  • Comment removed

  • Great movement! But you can tell the shots were planned

  • the only thing i noticed is that you're always getting up with your left leg. other than that it's perfect.

  • @mattdrumsss - Fail

  • not to beak or anything cause you're a great tendy just from looking at this vid. but the guy shooting is brutal in some of these shots.

    good luck btw!

  • Still with the grads next year? im getting drafted this year, your coach is awesome, funny guy

  • I feel for you kid. You are a very talented goalie and if you played for the Boston Bruins last night the they might have won. And I mean that 100%!!!

You are as talented if not more so than that road hockey goalie they have in there now. I think his name is Thomas. You are as fast. Your footwork is as good. Your positioning is as good. Your balance, stance. weight distribution, etc. are all as good maybe better!

    Shame people don't realize it.

  • you have amazing footspeed. it makes me happy as shit to be a goalie after watching you. your goin places man.

  • man that sounds soo good, good luck to you on that man.

im rooting for youu man, looks like you put in a lot of work

go to a sick div 1 school like michigan state or boston college

when you were starting goalie with the express, was mike chan your backup?

  • you gonna play college hockey? your really good man

  • @noobssincereal Thanks buddy! Haha and ya thats the dream right now. Im going into my last year of Junior eligibility next season and Im hoping to walk away with a div 1 scholly before the end of the year.

  • man that sucks the express treated you like that. but fuck your soo good

you starting goalie in the ajhl?

  • @noobssincereal Hey haha its something that happens a lot unfortunately. And ya I was the starter in Calgary but was traded back to my home town before christmas. I finished the year as the starting goaltender with the cumberland jr a grads.

  • great movement <3

  • What mask are you using here?

  • BILLZ SKILLLLLLLLLLLLZ

  • did you play against the old grizzlys when you were on calgary?

  • Can you help me?I need some drills and tips please! Thanks!

  • this is absolutly great goaltending . Great job. quick as a mosqito lolll

  • good to hear! glad to be back in ontario?

  • @bipaholic Ya absolutely I moved five billet houses in a two week span out west, some terrible some great and its just nice to be back in my own bed haha

  • I checked the mustangs website and you were not on the roster

  • @bipaholic Hey my season has been going really well. I had 19 starts of 21 out in calgary and was traded about a month ago back home to the CHL tier 1. I am now playing for the cumberland grads.

  • @JBDangs u r im from cp have u played the carleton place canadians yet?

  • How is the season going in claga

  • wat cut do u use 4 ur skates u have massive speed and ik somtimes ur cut helps with that

  • Hi...great smooth moves..looks like you and your coach have worked hard and long for you to be as fast and smooth as you are. Just a quick question. How do you move so easily in your butter fly back and forth???Practice, or are you using one of those Overdrive blades??

  • Man you are really good, can you give me any tips on how to direct the puck up into the glass in the corner off a low shot like you were doing in the video around 2:20? is it just the angle of your stick or is it a mixture of the pad and stick? thanks

  • @Take1Them1Out I understand you were looking for input from Robin, but I'm just trying to offer some friendly advice. I am a Junior B goalie out of the Maksymum organizion in Rochester, New York. I have gotten plenty of practice with technique such as this with my coaching staff and I'd say that it is generally just having the stick in the right position.

  • @JeffyVengenz thanks a lot, ill definitely practice it

  • @Take1Them1Out When you are in your stance, try to keep your stick between about 6 or 10 inches in front of you, this way if u go down (and don't drop your hands!) and you follow the puck with your shoulders and hands, it should hit the center of the blade and either stop for you to cover, or launch off into the boards/glass.

  • Question, when your making your glove saves, are you following the puck into your glove? I know your great goaltender just in the vid it doesn't look like it lol But I'm guessing you are just with your eyes.

  • what do you get your skates sharpened at?

  • what skates do u have cause they look pretty nasty

  • @hockeykid789123 they are graf i think

  • where are you playing this year, I didn't see you on the Express roster?

  • @razoramon989 They Express treated me horribly all of camp and tossed me around to 3 billet house in a week. It was ridiculous. Then, despite committing to me over and over to be their go to guy, they left me with no place to play hockey. Didn't even try to trade me or anything. Luckily I got a phone call from the Calgary Mustangs in the AJHL and just signed with them.

  • @JBDangs sorry to hear that, best of luck in Calgary and keep the videos coming, they have definitely improved my game

  • what sharpness are your skates?

  • Very nice movement. Quick and smooth.

  • Holy shit your quick! Awesome agility man. Really good goaltender

  • I saw you practice I think in may in kanata, was that you?

  • @Jb5486 Hey ya i have been practicing a lot out there at the sensplex and KRC over the spring and summer so wouldn't be surprised if it was me

  • @JBDangs wow man..your amazing.. haha! did u get recruited? if u didnt thats bullshit you're AMAZING!!.... honestly.. like 100% honest.. you're the best goalie i've seen in my life.. im 13 and i wanna be amazing like you :D..

  • Your amazing!

  • I have a question, what size pad would you recommend for a girl thats 5 foot 7?

  • @TheRoxySkier2 I am a girl goalie too and I reccomend you get about 32" pads or 33" pads.

  • @TheRoxySkier2 Hey it really depends on how long you legs are. I use a 34 + 2" right now and I'm about 5'10" . My legs are pretty long though. My advice is to try a couple and go for the one's that feel right. You want to be big but you don't want to sacrifice any ability to move. Like someone said a 32" would probably fit nice but try some other sizes around there to be sure.

  • @TheRoxySkier2 uhm i would go with what he said.. either a 32 or a 33.. im 5'6" and i have 32" pads and they feel wonderful... i like mine a little long. so i suggest that if u want them normal waiste hieght.. i would. suggest 32" but if u like it a little long get 33" hope i help :)

  • Hey thanks for responding. I was talking to many people about the chestprotector thing and i decided to buy the buer supreme pro. I am very glad i bought it. but my pants are getting small and i am thinking about eather getting the reebok pro pants or the one 95 pants.

  • graf skates i take it ?

  • when you do your butterfly pushes do u use the back of your blade or the front

  • Nice stuff! Robin, have you been taught to push with the post leg or right leg (example at 3:55) your entire career?

  • @TheGoalieGuru Thanks for the compliment! Yes for the most part I have been training to use the post leg to push of the post. Recently though, I have started using the opposite to push off to cover the short side when the shooter is closer in (depending on what hand he is). When transiting to a slide ( like seen at 3:55) I still use the post leg because I feel that, for me, it is faster and more comfortable. This is probably because I have been doing it that way most of my career.

  • Yo, do you tuck ur chest protector into ur pants? i started doing it with my RBK Premier 1 goalie chest protector and it works well. Also i hate the big block things that are on each side of your chest with the RBK Premier1 goalie chest protector. is the epic 8800 "bulky" because i am fucking tired of that old RBK chest protector.

  • @CEhockey32 Hey ya I tuck my chestpad into my pants and also tie it down at the back to prevent it from hitting me in the back of the neck. I changed to vaughn from RBK for the same reasons. The 8800 is not bulky at all, probably the least bulky of any other I have worn.

  • Hey what chest protector and pants do u wear and would reccomend?? plz respond

  • @CEhockey32 Hey I wear the vaughn epic 8800 chest pad and the old bauer XXX pants (same as the new one 95). Both are great help with mobility. If your looking to get some those would be my recomendation for sure. Hope this helps!

  • dont wanna powerslide out of the net/crease it'll leave a wide open net, just get to post. i know this is only practice but just saying, something to work on. beautiful t-pushes, nice leaning into the shot, very nice rebound/recovery control! if you slide out of the net and a pass goes to the opposite post, youre fucked. but this is excellent!

  • Ive watched this video many times and im in need of a new chest protector and was wondering what one your using. You move around in the crease very well.

  • How tall you are?

  • @NarriPower Hey I'm 5'10"

  • wwoooooo minto!!!! love that rink :P

  • I I,m 14 years old and i'm a goalie from canada my english is not the best but i hope you'll be able to understand ! :P I have some question about how you "strap your chest protector", what kind of chest protector do you have ? ( rbk, vaughn, bauer?)

when I say "how you strap it" i mean : do you put your chest protector in your pants ? or do you strap it in an other way and wich way ? thank you ! :D

  • the only thing i saw that wasn't amazing about you when everything else was was your stick. When you t-pushed your heal of the stick blade lifted a bit . But other than that i'm going to look forward to watch you play in higher levels good luck!

  • @reebokgoalie32 Hey thanks a lot for the comment and advice. I'll definitely keep that in mind for next session.

  • Your gloves on the wrong hand, lol jk man

keep it up you look real solid.

  • let me know where you got your leg pads.

  • Nice save 7:35

  • What C/A is that, it seems to give you alot of coverage?

  • slick movement and recoveries, your balance is pretty spot on aye, good job man and hopefully this is just the start for you

  • Do you recommend anybody getting this try-cut or is it not for everyone? Also, what skates, c/a and pants do you use? Thanks.

  • @iTwAsLuCkV3 Hey Guys, Ya I love the tri cut and recommend it for everyone. At least give it a try in the off season and see how you like it. The only downside is that it really wears down your blades, especially the tips. I had to change mine twice over the season and that can get pretty expensive. It also turns your blade into kinda a rocker. Oh and I'm wearing the graph G50 skates and bauer XXX pants.

  • Hey, how do you like the try cut? I may get it for my next sharpen...

  • amazing skating in the beginning of the video man keep it up. do you know michael mackie-kwist?

  • @jstemz Thanks a lot! And ya haha I played with Kwist this season.

  • @JBDangs yeah i know him we're on a spring league team together in Cleveland. Im playing for the Pittsburgh Junior Pens next year and its my first year playing Juniors. Do you have any on or off ice tips to increase my speed and quickness to anywhere near yours?

  • @jstemz Haha thats solid buddy tell him I say hi haven't seen him since the end of the season. And ya for sure man, on ice just do a lot of drills with you coach where your receiving 3,4, or 5 shots. Get the shooters to shoot early, maybe just before you get there. This way your getting out of your comfort zone and forcing yourself to be faster. Off ice, work a lot on plyometrics, this will help with explosiveness and control. Other then that buddy work your ass of every chance you get haha!

  • now try it with pucks!

  • ive never been so jealous of a person my whole life.

liek you are sooo amazing !

how much did you train to get that fast ?

  • absolutley phenomenol, amazing movement, do you have any advice?

  • hey do you know how you get ur skates sharpened

  • @kesselkid4 Hey I get something called a try cut. Its player profile on the tips and goalie profile in the middle.

  • retards if it was sped up why when he knocked the net off it went slowly whenn he was hallin ass!!!!!nice vid dude i expect to see you in the big leuges or whl!nice!!!!!

  • Totally legit. The tape is obviously not sped up, he's just THAT fast. Movement is damn-near perfect; crisp, clean and fast. Technique is flawless. Maybe needs more visual lead, as in eye contact with the puck all the way through the save, but that's the only thing I would comment on. Perfect example of what a modern goaltender should be. See you in D1 or Major Junior in a year or so man. Keep tearin' it up!

  • holly crap amazing movment, i only wish i could do that lol, south paw ftw.

  • Nice Yeah im a migit now it took me a while to get that good but ur movement it just wow.

  • You are absolutely wicked with speed. You are truly an inspiration to me, and I have decided to dedicate my whole off-season training to being as fast as you!!! AWESOME JOB AND KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING!

  • Hey buddy thanks I appreciate it! I play for the Jr A Burnaby Express of the BCHL.

  • Well i thing your a wiked nasty goalie. and Yeah it takes a lot of work to move that fast. what r you playing now?

  • This tape is not sped up. I have worked very hard to be able to move as fast as I can. I'm offended that you think I would fake this.

  • Good body control but obviously the tape is sped up at parts. Almost looks robotic

  • legit movement homie

  • You are good, you dont over do your pushes either, you seem relaxed and you make it look easy, and make the shooters look horrible! keep at it man!

  • he is a wicked good goalie, dont whine about the glove that isnt open when he slide he is in the right place at the right time and his reaction would be good enough for the glove

  • Favorited and 5 stars! Just cause..the skating is..amazing. The way you keep so steady at your pushes are also one thing I noticed.

  • amazing video but the only think i noticed is when you are sliding you tend to close your glove and its not taking up as much net but you quick and your slides are very good

  • Hey not problem. The only thing I can really suggest is that you practice every chance you get. It took me a very long time to be able to do it like that. One thing you could try is instead of using your toe to push (tends to slip a lot) use the heel of your skate. That helped me a lot when i was first learning.

Oh and I'm using an Itech pro glove.

  • Awesome thank you for everything!!!!

  • ok, thanks. for some reason i am having trouble pushing with my skates all the time. I don't know if i have the boot straps to tight or what, but it just doesn't seem like i get that good of a push. Any suggestions??I really appreciate the help!!

  • What glove are you using? I ti original velocity with T-web?

  • Hey ya whenever I'm sliding I'm always pushing from my skates.

  • when doing a butterfly slide or crawl are you always pushing off your skates or do you use your pads or other means??

  • Hey everyone thanks again for all the comments I really appreciate it.

  • you're awesome, check out the goalie crease network!

  • damm man ..your sick...but one thing it looks like your really hyper...slow it down:P lol

  • my god... i am speechless, i play AAA bantam and my movement is no where close to that. also, how tall are you cause when you come across in ur butterfly, you look massive, and u easily cover the top corners.

  • #1 draft choice overall, much?! haha FUCKING A!! GOOD SHIT!

  • holy crap !

    you are amazing!!!

and i hope you go places, cause wouldnt mind cheering

    for you on the tv.

    goood job!

  • Good luck in BC

  • holy shit this guy is amazing.

  • I would sell my soul for that movement...jesus christ

  • finally i have found another left handed(or full right) goalie. there is no other goalie like that besides me for like 100 miles away from my town.

  • and awsome save at 7:28

  • Kanata screwed me over and I asked them for a release. I am a free agent right now. Did I play against you?

As for off ice I do a lot of plyometricss and functional workouts

  • you are one of if not the quickest goalies i have ever seen and you llow andtrack the puck very well. Just wonderig what kinds of off ice drills do you do?

  • your awful

  • did you not get cut by kanata?

  • Thanks. I get something called a try cut. Its player profile on the tips and heels and goalie profile in the middle

  • what cut is on your skates?

    and you are awsome.

  • Thanks I appreciate the comments.

  • damn. i think you could beat nhl goalies with that movement!

  • SICK movements dude, you have the loudest skates ever! lol

  • Incredible movements, you'll definitely get picked up by a good team.

  • great glove hand man

  • awesome movement dangs
