He's a liberal. I don't know why people don't see that. Cain is the most conservative, Perry or Gingrich, sadly enough, wouldn't be horrible, but Romney is a joke. The fact that he's still so high in the polls just goes to show you that this nation is moving more and more to the left ;/ We need a strong conservative that will take on entitlements, welfare, the deficit, and strengthen our military. Welfare was never meant to be a career path, but it's come to that for so many under Obama.
True conservatism And getting back to The constitution Will save america. No liberals Republican Independent Democrats All liberals need to be Out of office. Help save america 2012
Tell the Republicans to get their heads out of the sand and fix the economy. It's time for the S2HTF....
Republicans and Democrats are guilty of destroying America. All that's left now is God's wrath on this wicked nation. Let go of the 2 party system and prepare for the collapse of America.
Biggest business in Amerika: "Prisons" (for real!)
When you check the box for what "ethnicity" you are, you are singing your death warrant and letting the government, and the NWO own your existence. ...
I expected this to happen in 2008 when a majority of American voters took leave of their senses and put this inexperienced buffoon into office. They man had no executative experience of any type. He had no business experience and knows absolutely NOTHING about economics and business. And he has surrounded himself with the biggest collection of clowns ever assembled in DC. And that's saying something. Yes, Americans are paying for their stupidity and paying big time. I hope they learn by 2012.
@juscurious Mhm, the country that elected Bush twice voted for a man who would bring "change", Silly, silly. Lemme guess you think voting republican will restore the fed? There is no change in Washington, it is owned in full by lobbyists from mulit-million dollar corporations and banksters. China has more say in federal matters than the American public.
Our stimulus goes to other countries? Yes. The U.S. Department of Energy revealed $60 million of the $1.2 billion given to the agency in economic stimulus funds to study climate change. While some might consider the expenditure frivolous, especially given the nation’s financial woes, it should be noted that some of the equipment was not even intended for use in the U.S. but rather was deployed to facilities in the Maldives, India and Australia.
If austerity isn't the solution, how does one explain Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, etc.? Anyone remember how Argentina moved past their default? The definition of insanity is repeating a failure and expecting different results.
@informedskeptic I hope you realize that the PIIGS have instituted austerity and in return have seen lower GDP, and higher interest rates on their sovereign debt, primarily because investors feel that austerity measures will prevent those nations from growing adequately in the future.
When the FUCK will America wake up and get rid of the IDIOT circus clowns that make up congress? Those morons couldn't find their own ass if it had a bell on it. Six figure salaries with expense accounts for this kind of incompetence? Nice work if you can find it. Flush the toilet and get rid of all those USELESS turds.
you fucking right wing idiots. the cbo, a bi-partisian commision, stated that the obama stimus only accounted for 6% of our current deficit. 6% you fucking morons. turn off fox news you dumb bastards
@jefferyculpepper oh & by the way $400 billion of the stimulus went to pay for your beloved bush tax cuts, so in fact u gained from the stimulus, your hypocrisy is amazing, u whine about it but then accept the money, kinda like all those gop governors who cried wolf & said they wouldnt accept stimulus $ but then took it, thats the conservatard way, do as i say & not as i do, lmao.......
You sons of bitches sold us out. After Senator McConnell's flowery speech at Heritage on November 4th, 2010, you toads have finally returned to form. I have been an establishment Republican all my life, and have resisted what I still call "winning by losing" as the third party "strategy" has always appeared to me. But you have disarmed us in the fight against Democrat pillage by lying down for the debt ceiling bill and its attendant extra-constitutional shenanigans. Now we fight you.
Join the Republican Revolution? That's no different than hoping for Obama's Change... Time to Vote Independent and kick both the Reps and the Dems out for good...
Bush certainly wasn't a fiscal conservative, but his spending pales in comparison to the nut in the White House now. Keynesian economics does not work, period. If you think it does, try it in your own life. Your lenders will straighten you out in a hurry.
In light of S&P's downgrade and threat of another, would you like to re-think your position? If not, please dazzle me with your economic logic. Let's see how the downgrade plays out in the market on Monday. Bear in mind that S&P was, shall we say, overly optimistic when rating the sub-prime mortgages AAA before they crashed and burned.
@informedskeptic Which position? that a 14 Trillion dollar economy does not run like a household budget? It still doesn't and I'm 100% positive that the analysts over at S&P would agree with me. I would urge you to read the press release put out by S&P as opposed to simply watching its interpretation on Fox news or reading a biased view on conservative blogs.
Translation: You can't make a reasoned economic argument. If you had read the statement by S&P you'd realize they wanted deeper cuts in the debt ceiling agreement. Imagine the unreasonableness of expecting large cuts in the budget when the borrower has absolutely no idea how to pay off their debt. Those bastards. Have you noticed the austerity plans being put into place in the PIIGS countries in Europe?
"The firm's conclusion 'was pretty much motivated by all of the debate about the raising of the debt ceiling,' John Chambers, chairman of S&P's sovereign ratings committee, said in an interview. 'It involved a level of brinksmanship greater than what we had expected earlier in the year.'"
-Wall Street Journal
Sounds like the major issue was the level of intransigence in congress over the debt ceiling. The report itself also mentions unwillingness to raise taxes.
"Compared to some other highly rated governments, the U.S. government does not have the proactive ability to put public finances on a firm footing,” Chambers said.
“For that reason, there’s a lot of uncertainty about the future debt burden,” Beers said. (Chambers' S&P colleague)
Now let's turn to a reliable source, after all I'm sure they were both speechless after S&P so misread the sub-prime crisis. How about David Walker? (continued)
David Walker (former comptroller general for the US, a self-described moderate Democrat appointed by Bill Clinton said this:
"I would argue that the most serious threat to the United States is not someone hiding in a cave in Afghanistan or Pakistan but our own fiscal irresponsibility,"
"we suffer from a fiscal cancer. It is growing within us. And if we do not treat it, it could have catastrophic consequences for our country,"
Where does the debate show up on the balance sheet?
@informedskeptic You love quotes, but you hate addressing facts. You stated that the S&P wanted deeper cuts, but that was not the main reason they cut our rating, and that is confirmed both by their press release and Chambers who is the Chairman of their sovereign ratings committee. The main reason is the inability of congress to work together to solve the issue.
Now I grant you, the S&P has little credibility and I think you'll find the capital markets agree with me on that in a few days.
S&P has no credibility. As an accountant with over 20 years of experience, Chamber's answer regarding the debate as the main issue reveals he is
a) an idiot
or
b) intentionally misleading people away from the only issue he should be looking at (the debt itself).
Seriously, do you really think people wanting to decrease a future liability is a problem? Meanwhile, he foolishly ignores the financials. Even the youngest auditor I've ever dealt with, isn't that stupid.
@informedskeptic No, I totally agree that we need to decrease, not only our deficit but our continually growing debt. However, it's a medium term to long term problem. I honestly believe, based on the economics of it, that cutting gov't spending now, or even leveling spending now, when both businesses and families are cutting back would be awful for the economy and would prolong high unemployment and actually increase the debt (due to lower revenue collections).
@shalcall You are operating under the false notion that if govt cuts back on spending that it actually takes money OUT of the economy. You must remember that in order for govt to put any money in, it must FIRST come out of the economy anyway. What you are alluding to with the govt cut backs is akin to taking water out of the deep end of the pool and dumping it back into the shallow end. There is no more water in the pool because it first came OUT of the pool AND some gets spilled on the deck.
@ToddAldrich 1. When the government borrows the money, it is not necessarily coming out of our economy.
2. You're under the assumption that consumers and businesses would have spent that money (boosting the economy) if gov't had not collected it. That's a false assumption that is only true for lower income brackets and absolutely false for higher income brackets.
3. Before you say that the savings are invested by banks, check bank balance sheets. They're not lending.
@shalcall You have a point on the borrowing issue, but that is even worse for the long term ( and I realize you were talking short term - so point taken)
As for the other points, I respectfully disagree. Wealthy individuals are aware that one of the biggest risks they have is inflation and unless they are earning a rate of return greater than the inflation rate, they are in fact losing money.
Most of them DO invest it and only keep a nominal amount in the typical savings institutions.
@shalcall As for banks investing money - they ARE investing - it is just that the Dodd-Frank bill as well as other restrictions are keeping them from being able to loan money like they wish they could. They are, however investing in other, more liquid assets.
@ToddAldrich Well, I'm glad that you can disagree respectfully without comparing me to a nazi or a communist. I thank you for bucking the trend on youtube.
IMHO, if investors were worried about inflation, they would not be sinking so much cash into U.S. treasury bonds. Expected inflation is simply not an issue in this recession despite the gold bugs wanting it to be. And banks are simply not investing. They are sitting on huge piles of cash to shore up their balance sheets.
Well, the market spoke and it wasn't pretty. Down 634.76 points. Granted, it's just one day. While I do not feel S&P has credibility, it has a long history of underestimating the problems. Shockingly, ABC acknowledged this on it's evening news. Personally, we don't even deserve our AA+ rating. It could be the market agrees with me and it's a much bigger problem than you'd like to believe.
@informedskeptic ummm, the S&P rated our sovereign debt, not our stock markets. Our sovereign debt actually went UP in price today. Interest rates on 10 year treasury bonds went down to a low of 2.33%.
All those people selling off in the stock market today, they put their money in Gold and U.S. Treasury bonds. Clearly the market thinks the S&P is full of shit.
You can have capitalism and a free-market without a strange-hold from corporate power. Corporations have shown time and time again that their only goal is take a resource, whether it be natural, human, or whatever, and use it until DEATH OR EXHAUSTION. Time to throw the corporatist out of washington! Stay away from the candidates who take their money, THEY DO NOT HAVE YOUR INTERESTS IN MIND. All they can do is HIJACK our democratic institutions and pollute them with their propaganda..
You don't have a Congressman a senator or police department because they all belong to the rich elite police puts our young men and women in jail to support the prison industrial Corporation they use our armies to plunder the world we haven't fought for freedom since World War II we only have mercenaries now that's why no one is concerned about dead soldiers the rich do not care about young men they will kill them for profit
It doesn't take much to make a non-nuanced look, take a bunch of quotes from recent dem press, and pin this all on them. Truth is, this goes back spanning Bush AND Clinton administrations.. lots of bi-partisan bad policy. It takes only a finger to pass blame. It takes a real mind to OFFER SOLUTIONS that are feasible. Which this video does nothing of. Classic D.C. politicking at its finest. The only rule? "Get elected." Who said you needed to know how to govern well??
In what fantasy world is a balanced budget going to "fix" the economy? A BBA would require taking out more than 1 Trillion dollars out of the economy during a deep recession and laying off tens of thousands of government workers, not to mention more on the state level. If you haven't noticed, the private sector isn't flush with jobs for those people.
This is a completely asinine idea for a host of reasons. You guys are proving yourselves to be the epitome of irresponsibility.
@shalcall and that's the problem with Dems, they feel it is the government's responsibility to provide jobs. Many large corporations are flush with cash and could hire but they choose not to for a myriad of reasons because of Obama and his socialist agenda. Now he wants another stimulus...INSANE! Do you not think that companies and small businesses are not concerned about the cost and effects of Obamacare, the mounting debt in this country, the horrible fiscal policy of the last 10 to 15 years??
@jefferyculpepper do you have an advanced degree in economics? in anything? the stimulus accounted for 6% of the deficit. why shouldnt the govt provide jobs. JOBS ARE GOOD MONKEY. I bet you are pro-life. YOU CANT BE PRO-LIFE AND ANTI HEALTH CARE. you are completely backwards. every idea you have is based on a logical fallicy and easily disproven.
@jefferyculpepper No, because I actually believe in economics and the profit motive and not ideology and the religion of austerity. Corporations are sitting on cash because demand is low. If they thought they could make a profit on that cash, they would invest it. Corporations are only taxed on their profit, not their costs. So if expanding would make them money, they would expand. You seem to believe that just making products will create demand. That's not the way it works.
republicans blaming the democrats for adopting the same failed ideas and failed policies of taxcuts for the corporate elites and endless wars of last decade and nothing for infrastructures or jobs is retarded!!!
obama's 1st term is same as dick and bush's 3rd term!
same failed players in key posts!
same failed policies!
same results!
i wonder how many retards actually realize that so called "stimulus" was actually 38% taxcuts!
Was not a fan of Bush either but I'd take 10 Bush's for 1 Obama. I'm guessing the stock market being in the crapper is Bush's fault too. Or the real estate bust? Dodd and Frank had nothing to do with that, right? Or the fact that the Dems controlled congress during a fair amount of Bush's tenure in office. Give me a break. Obama and the Dems had two years of free reign to fix things and guess what, thing are only getting worse, and that's a shame. Job numbers out tomorrow. Thank Obama.
@jefferyculpepper I would ask you where the DJIA and S&P 500 on the day Bush left office. Then I'd ask you where they are today. The Dow could fall another 3000 points and it would still be better than where Bush left it.
@shalcall I've looked at the data and you are right, it's bad. Again, I was no huge fan of Bush and he gets part of the blame. I would also ask you to look at the unemployment numbers, misery index, home values, etc for the past two years when Obama and the Dem party ran EVERYTHING and tell me how you honestly think our economy is doing. I would love to believe Obama's fiscal policies are working but it's just not there.
@jefferyculpepper the dems had the majority but the repubs had the filibusters. nothing got done. we should have had a second stimulus. 2010, it was all about the jobs right? what were the first three bills repubs tried to pass? restrictions on abortions. do you know how many jobs gay marriage would create? everything right wingers do is anti-jobs. cutting spending is just another example.
@jefferyculpepper are you? ok. the great depression was caused by switching from keysianian economics to hayek economics. which is exactly what the republicans(like yourself) are trying to do. wait, wait for it,...BOOM GOES THE MUTHERFUCKIN DYNOMITE. get your laugh on now bitch
@jefferyculpepper You're right, because if you really delve into the numbers, Obama and congress have not done much of anything. People love to mention the "stimulus." However, the stimulus, which consisted of about 40% in tax cuts was not very much direct spending, was split up over several years (it has not all been spent) and was almost completely offset by cuts on the state and local levels. From an economic perspective, it kept the status quo and was not "stimulative."
Shut up with your effing propaganda. It's going to take a hell of long time to get this country back on track after Bush almost destroyed it with tax cuts, deregulation, & utter incompetance. Stop watching Fox noise & get a clue. We were not in debt to China until DUHbya came along. He never vetoed a single spending cut--WHERE WAS THE OUTRAGE?
@MarkForSenate2012 Yeah? How are Republicans going to fix this? By putting more people out of work? 4,000 FAA employees and 10,000 construction workers are out of work because of Republican intransigence. How is that "fixing" anything?
Great ad. Problem is you guys let the super congress - oh excuse me, the committee of 12 (plus the president, as what a tie breaker? Please.) completely change how things are done. Congress has now been effectively neutered. And that is why I am no longer a Republican. The only answer is true Liberty. This is not that. Thanks a lot for selling us further down the river. Shame on you. You SHOULD know better. Super Congress = Non-Representative Totalitarianism
the NRSC is just as useless/ball-less. obama tossed a hanging slow ball at them with the phony birth cert a 5 year old could spot as a piece of crap made by a white house intern on an apple last april, and these pinheads do NOTHING!!! i've got a pair of RINO BALLS for sale... real cheap, not that big, ain't worth that much, seems like our congress needs a REAL PAIR!
If the republicans had not given in to SAVE the country, the democrats would still be fighting! The do not care about the country..only getting votes.
The last thing needs to be "Time for a Conservative Senate". The "Republicans" have proven how worthless they are when it comes down to the end of the fight.
A more accurate video would be all democratic congressmen buried in sand over their heads, trying to pop up into the air....with republicans standing above them playing whack-a-dem (mole). If the people, democrat or republican, want any change BOTH parties must participate fairly. I'm just sayin' :O :(
I love it when the left claims the Republicans block everything Obama "wants to do" to help this economy. For two years Obama had majorities in both houses of Congress and passed everything he "wanted" at will. The results of his "wants" are now bearing fruit. This is what "change" looks like.
Why don't you people get educated about the FACTS? Try using your brains for a change. The president keeps hitting a MAC truck (GOP) everything time he tries to get something done. Stop watching the FOX Republican Network and do some viable research so you can get your facts straight. I've never in my life have seen and heard so many ignorant people making comments they have no clue about. Pathetic.
@Rvrdiva Uhm, really? What about the first 2 years when he had both houses of congress? What about the Recovery Act of 2009 that was supposed to be jobs, jobs, jobs that he got passed?
How about YOU stop watching DNCTV I mean MSNBC, get your head out of your a... er, I mean out of the sand, and YOU get YOUR facts straight.
@amcent2 GREAT IDEA...get rid of all incumbent politicians and start with a clean slate and if they can't cut costs and balance the budget, then throw them out too!
Name calling and disrespecting OUR president won't get anything accomplished. If you think for a minute that we were better off under "King" George, then you must be a true-blue Republican that no matter what, all Republicans are right and all Democrats are wrong. This proves that you know nothing at all, and one cannot argue with ignorance. Hope this is not you!!
2012 will be known as the year America votes out the worst president ever in it's history! Somewhere, a community is missing it's organizer. Let's give him back to them.
The man with his head in the sand is the one that won't admit how we got to where we are today. The policies of no regulation that the GOP wants to take us back to. Is the GOP really wanting me to believe government spending to the root of all my problems? Really ? Seriously ?
The path forward for America is not cut , defund and dumbdown.
Your not going to bamboozle enough people with this BS ,,, The truth is out there
And we all know where the money is, behind the GOP
@RSNelsen your head's not in the sand but in your ass! What successful business, government, or any entity for that matter, has ever been able to spend it's way to prosperity? The answer is none. Please enlighten us and tell us what is wrong with a balanced budget. And the money is not behind the GOP, it's in Obama's campaign coffers. Here's to hoping that money is going to a lost cause in 2012. He will go down as the worst president ever.
@jefferyculpepper To answer your question Mr. Culpepper the United States of America spent it's way to prosperity after the GOP got us into the Great Depression with poor governess and lack of over site. Thanks for asking.
@RSNelsen The economics are absolutely not there to support us spending our way to prosperity now...not sure where you studied economics. How many baby boomers are retiring on a daily basis? If Obama taxed all of the millionaires and billionaires that he loves to hate at 100% we would still have a deficit. He loves to throw the term "fair share" around but makes darn sure that 51% of Americans pay no federal income tax...what's fair about that??
@jefferyculpepper What's fair about that sir is the people that you say pay no income taxes pay more in payroll taxes as a percent of their income than does Warren Buffet. Income taxes are not payroll taxes. Another neat little GOP word trick you are using.
@RSNelsen We all pay payroll taxes so what's your point? And while you're bringing up percentages, I am sure that Mr. Buffet pays more as a % of his income in taxes than does your payroll tax example. I am also pretty sure that he is in the 35% tax bracket and last time I checked, payroll taxes were nowhere near that number. Lame argument. By the way, how many jobs has John Q Payroll Tax created? How many people does John Q Payroll Tax employ? A big fat 0! How's that for a neat trick?
@RSNelsen I'm very familiar with leverage but based on $17T in debt, that leverage gets smaller and smaller. If you are not for a balanced budget, what's your answer? What's your suggestion?
@jefferyculpepper Thanks for asking for my suggestion. Tax the drug companies that have benefited from Medicare part D. Tax the medical equipment companies that bill Medicare at a 300% mark up for motorized chairs for our people that are now to fat to walk from eating fast food everyday. Tax the millionaires and billionaires that have been enriched from our wars that we have not yet paid for. Let the Bush Tax Cuts expire. And of course never again have a policy of preemptive war.
@RSNelsen Why pay for any medical expenses at all as a result of someone's choice to be fat, smoke or use drugs? Why are my tax dollars spent for that? Good point and I agree with you there. So, you're saying all millionaires and billionaires got rich off of of the wars? Really?? Again, what's wrong with something like the Fair Tax and a balanced budget to go with it? Why can't EVERYONE pay their "fair share"? I have no issue with paying higher taxes as long as everyone is contributing.
And where's the promised jobs? The booming economy we were promised with the stimulus? How's the value of your home these days?? Oh, right, all George Bush's fault, right. Nothing to do with Frank and Dodd??? Give me a break. Beating the "It's Bush's fault" drum is getting really long in the tooth.
@jefferyculpepper Now your just making stuff up ...... are you working for FOX? No one I repeat No one promised a booming economy would be brought about by the stimulus.
Do you really what to talk about jobs? Jobs created during a GOP Presidents vs. jobs created during a Democratic Presidents? The numbers are not you your favor Mr. Culpepper.
@vince277 Yea ,,,, and lefties don't fight and die for their country either or go to church or have families or say the pledge and blah blah blah fox fox fox sean sean sean bill bill bill glen glen glen and so on
@RSNelsen Here's a sampling of awesome Obama quotes regarding the stimulus: “Millions more Americans will lose their jobs. Homes will be lost. Families will go without health care. Our crippling dependence on foreign oil will continue. That is the price of inaction.” How are home values, foreclosure rates, the price of fuel, and unemployment numbers now?
@RSNelsen Here's another jewel: “This plan will save or create over three million jobs — almost all of them in the private sector.” Or this one: “Number two, it is expected that we are going to lose about a trillion dollars worth of demand this year, a trillion dollars of demand next year because of the contraction in the economy. So the reason that this has to be big is to try to fill some of that lost demand." Shovel ready, ha!
@jefferyculpepper And if the GOP had been in charge as we were in the depths of the deepest recession in 50 years , the worse recession in our lifetimes they would have done NOTHING. This is why I will always be a democrat.
Very good quote by the way, it explains why the government, controlled by the democrats at the time thank God, did what they did, spent money and cut taxes on the middle class.
I am a small business owner and the stimulus helped soften the blow of the recession for me.
@RSNelsen And what did we get for all that money spent? How many jobs at $278K? Just like a Democrat thinking that is a good deal. Are you kidding me? I'm glad you have a crystal ball to play the "well if the GOP game"...again, really? It's sad that you and the rest of the Democrats always look to the government to care for your every need. What ever happened to self reliance? Sleep well knowing the cost of your good fortune thru stimulus now rests on mine and my children's shoulders. Pathetic.
@jefferyculpepper What did we get for our trillions spent on our war in Iraq that our children's children may some day pay for? I'll take the stimulus over preemptive war any day of the week Mr. Culpepper.
The stimulus saved my employees jobs the wars took my friend's lives and limbs.
@jefferyculpepper Really Mr. Culpepper? Libya same as Iraq? How many boots on the ground in Lybia? Your entitled to your own opinions sir but not your own facts.
Our current President is ending the wars started by but not paid for or ended by the last President.
Now the GOP wants to cut, cut ,cut because "we have a spending problem not a revenue problem" .
The GOP mantra marches on ... Gov is bad , Gov doesn't work, elect me and I'll prove it to you.
@RSNelsen What facts are you alleging that I made up? Are we not engaged in Libya? Have we not already spent money on trying to cripple Gadhafi's regime? FACT: Last I checked, it's still costing us. The two best quotes that you have posted yet ,although I will qualify the latter: (1) "we have a spending problem and not a revenue problem" - now that is profound (2) BIG OVERREACHING Gov is bad, BIG OVERREACHING Gov doesn't work - even more profound. How's the market doing today? Job #s tomorrow.
@jefferyculpepper Our government has worked pretty well for far Mr. Culpepper but I have become bored and am moving on from our question and answer session enjoy your rage and arranged facts. I will always remember that our relationship started with you saying that my head was in my ass. As you go about trying to make the world the way you want it to be try to interject a little civility from time to time. Just try it you may like it.
@RSNelsen And it's still there. By the way, you forgot racist, Tea Party terrorist, etc.. And you also failed to show me where I arranged a single fact. Civility is a two way street.
@RSNelsen and where's the rebuttal on the John Q Payroll Tax/Warren Buffet issue? Again, all that most of us fiscal conservatives want is for everyone to contribute and pay their "fair share" (just paying payroll taxes isn't really fair) and for our federal government to stop spending like drunken sailors.
@jefferyculpepper OK then a fair tax would be for Mr. Buffet to pay a 8% tax on every dollar he earns just like the cashier at Walmart does ,,,, I'm for for that !!!
@jetbtkng Check out fairtax.org and yes, I do think that they should be taxed. Why shouldn't they be taxed? The Fair Tax is based on consumption and not income, and is not levied below and up to the poverty level. I would also suggest that a couple earning $17000 a year either made some questionable choices with regards to education, lifestyle, career field, whatever or it might be time to seek out a new career.
@jefferyculpepper so u think they should be punished because they only make $17,000 a yr, from fairtax [ The rebate will suffice to fully insulate the poor from paying any tax on net ] so whats the difference between what they pay now & fairtaxes plan, they still wouldnt pay, a fair tax plan would be 10-20-30, people under $20,000 pay 0, then 10% on people $25,000 to $50,000, $50,001to $120,000 pay 20%, $120,001 & up pay 30%, u make more u pay more, now thats fair taxation, anything else is nuts
@jetbtkng So using your same vernacular, because I make more, I should be "punished" more, right? Why is that? Am I punished because I try harder, paid attention, sacrificed time, effort and money to get ahead??? Based on the Fair Tax, they would owe nothing at the $17000 income level. Based on the Fair Tax though, your $25k-$50K, and your $50K-$100K, and so on would all be taxed the same on consumption at 23%...what's wrong with that?
@jefferyculpepper & its not being punished like u conservatards like to say, its paying your fair share, to live in the greatest country on this planet that allowed u to be able to make that money u owe it to maintain this countries sovereignty, if u make more u pay more is just & fair, all u want is a free ride, your nothing but a greedy douce bag, talk about sacrifice, u wouldnt have had these opportunities in alot of other countries, greed is killing this country & your part of the problem...
@jetbtkng "punished" was your word, not mine. I was merely following your logic. Just like a Democrat...don't like the truth so you resort to name calling. Guess what pal, everyone has/had access to the same public education that I had...I just chose to apply myself and make better choices. Free ride? I bet I pay more in taxes than you earn in an entire you. Moochers ARE THE ENTIRE PROBLEM, not us PRODUCERS. Let me guess, you're a student, musician, or artist, right??
@jefferyculpepper no u dont like the truth, like wall street today, u got what u wanted, just think what would have happened if we defaulted, but i bet u were all for that to huh, lol, i love how u conservatards like to blame the poor & unions for everything, so u got grants & scholarships hmmmm, u didnt pay for your education i assume, more free ride hypocrisy, not everyone has the same opportunities as others, dont have good schools, parents, a structure of support, & im retired, greedy douce.
@jetbtkng "Bitter, party of one?" Someone is suffering from an extreme case of wealth envy. Got what I wanted? I love seeing my 401k and other investments lose value. Give me a break. You and your ilk are always so free to spend and redistribute someone else's wealth in the name of what's "fair" when all you really need to do is get off your duff and earn your own "fair". You are where you deserve to be. Btw, what is douce? I think you mean douche you moron. You've misspelled it twice now.
@jefferyculpepper STOP WITH THE FALSE DITCHOTOMIES. I work hard and believe that the rich should be taxed. and I dont give a fuck about your ideas of morality. they dont play here. we are capitalist dumb ass. I'd sell ovens to hitler if I could make a profit. you cant introduce a moral argument into an immoral system. you are nothing but a tool for the top 2%.
@jefferyculpepper typical conservatard, avoiding the questions, did u support raising the debt ceiling, who paid for your education, whos this ilk u keep whining about, are u talking about the americans who lost there jobs because of bush & the gop's inept governing, or are u talking about sr citizens who live on ssi & medicare, or is it the children who collect ssi from a deceased or disabled parent, did u know the average middle class wage is down 6% from $58,000 to $54,000 since 08, dam ilk..
@jetbtkng Hmm, wages down since '08? Strange coincidence I know but wasn't that the year Obama was elected? YOU are the ILK that I keep whining about. I will refer you back to my earlier statement: "you are where you deserve to be". You ASSUMED that I received a free ride thru school, thru life. Neither is the case and we all know about where ASSUMPTIONS lead don't we? I pay more than my "fair share" in taxes now and if you feel obliged to cut the IRS a check for extra $, knock yourself out.
@jefferyculpepper again u didnt awnser, DID U SUPPORT RAISING THE DEBT CEILING YES OR NO, DID U PAY FOR YOUR OWN EDUCATION YES OR NO, there not difficult to awnser, so u think obama in less than a yr caused the whole economic mess is that what your saying, again either a simple YES OR NO will do.............
@jetbtkng Can you not read or are you just that DUMB? YES, I paid for my own education. I already answered that. Yes, I supported raising the debt ceiling and yes, I feel alot of the current economic woes are because of Obama and Bush. Obama has done nothing to help but spend good money on bad ideas. As I have said, and you have failed to read, they and their respective congresses are to blame. Period. Do you even have an education? Do you even pay taxes? Do you want to pay more taxes?
@jefferyculpepper finally a str8 awnser, so how did u pay for that education of yours, student loans, worked 16 jobs like a jamaican, borrowed it from mom & dad or did they just pay for it, now as far as obama & the economy, if we would have spent more on lets say infrastructure that would have put millions back to work while investing in our countries future, there wasnt enough stimulus spending, schools are in decay, we could have sent unemployed back to school, a myriad of things...........
@jetbtkng and you forgot to call me a douce again....you NEVER answered what a douce was. You used it twice. I am guessing you might have a high school education and that's about it.
@jefferyculpepper the stimulus did work, but instead of spending $400 billion on failed tax cuts that money should have been spent on infrustructure, weve had more bridge & road work done here in cali than has been done in a long time thanks to the stimulus, & we are the 7th largest economy on the planet, we should have spent a couple of trillion on infrastucture, got rid of bush tax cuts, that would have revived our economy & put millions back on the tax line, u like douces huh.......
And as long as we are using this a question and answer forum Mr. Culpepper let me ask you how many countries in the world have fought two wars and cut taxes at the same time while also adding an unfunded drug benefit to it's medicare insurance system?
great idea LOWERING taxes during a time of war, FOR THE FIRST TIME IN AMERICAN HISTORY, during the LONGEST WAR in american history....er
how about for the first time FOR ANY NATION IN THE WORLD SINCE THE ROMAN ERA...
great idea bush, and the $400 Billion you spent on prescription pill reform, which has done nothing but put more profits into pharmaceutical companies portfolio...
waaait...and those companies are mostly right wing lobbyists? YOU'RE KIDDING
Sadly most Republicans think a spending plan would create jobs. Few realize that government is strangling the economy, and even fewer will vote that way, Republican or Democrat. Bush had his failed stimulus plans as well, and people like McConnell, McCain, Boehner and tons of others went along with them.

@informedskeptic Despite what you believe, a 14 Trillion dollar economy does not run like a household budget. It honestly doesn't.
shalcall 6 months ago
@shalcall
In light of S&P's downgrade and threat of another, would you like to re-think your position? If not, please dazzle me with your economic logic. Let's see how the downgrade plays out in the market on Monday. Bear in mind that S&P was, shall we say, overly optimistic when rating the sub-prime mortgages AAA before they crashed and burned.
informedskeptic 6 months ago
@informedskeptic Which position? that a 14 Trillion dollar economy does not run like a household budget? It still doesn't and I'm 100% positive that the analysts over at S&P would agree with me. I would urge you to read the press release put out by S&P as opposed to simply watching its interpretation on Fox news or reading a biased view on conservative blogs.
shalcall 6 months ago
@shalcall
Have you noticed the austerity plans being put into place in the PIIGS countries in Europe?
informedskeptic 6 months ago
@informedskeptic
The report itself also mentions unwillingness to raise taxes.
shalcall 6 months ago
@shalcall
Quotes? I love quotes. Here's some:
"Compared to some other highly rated governments, the U.S. government does not have the proactive ability to put public finances on a firm footing,” Chambers said.
“For that reason, there’s a lot of uncertainty about the future debt burden,” Beers said. (Chambers' S&P colleague)
Now let's turn to a reliable source, after all I'm sure they were both speechless after S&P so misread the sub-prime crisis. How about David Walker? (continued)
informedskeptic 6 months ago
@shalcall
Where does the debate show up on the balance sheet?
informedskeptic 6 months ago
@informedskeptic You love quotes, but you hate addressing facts. You stated that the S&P wanted deeper cuts, but that was not the main reason they cut our rating, and that is confirmed both by their press release and Chambers who is the Chairman of their sovereign ratings committee. The main reason is the inability of congress to work together to solve the issue.
Now I grant you, the S&P has little credibility and I think you'll find the capital markets agree with me on that in a few days.
shalcall 6 months ago
@shalcall
Even the youngest auditor I've ever dealt with, isn't that stupid.
informedskeptic 6 months ago
@informedskeptic No, I totally agree that we need to decrease, not only our deficit but our continually growing debt. However, it's a medium term to long term problem. I honestly believe, based on the economics of it, that cutting gov't spending now, or even leveling spending now, when both businesses and families are cutting back would be awful for the economy and would prolong high unemployment and actually increase the debt (due to lower revenue collections).
shalcall 6 months ago
@shalcall You are operating under the false notion that if govt cuts back on spending that it actually takes money OUT of the economy. You must remember that in order for govt to put any money in, it must FIRST come out of the economy anyway. What you are alluding to with the govt cut backs is akin to taking water out of the deep end of the pool and dumping it back into the shallow end. There is no more water in the pool because it first came OUT of the pool AND some gets spilled on the deck.
ToddAldrich 6 months ago
@ToddAldrich 1. When the government borrows the money, it is not necessarily coming out of our economy.
2. You're under the assumption that consumers and businesses would have spent that money (boosting the economy) if gov't had not collected it. That's a false assumption that is only true for lower income brackets and absolutely false for higher income brackets.
3. Before you say that the savings are invested by banks, check bank balance sheets. They're not lending.
shalcall 6 months ago
@shalcall You have a point on the borrowing issue, but that is even worse for the long term ( and I realize you were talking short term - so point taken)
As for the other points, I respectfully disagree. Wealthy individuals are aware that one of the biggest risks they have is inflation and unless they are earning a rate of return greater than the inflation rate, they are in fact losing money.
Most of them DO invest it and only keep a nominal amount in the typical savings institutions.
ToddAldrich 5 months ago
@shalcall As for banks investing money - they ARE investing - it is just that the Dodd-Frank bill as well as other restrictions are keeping them from being able to loan money like they wish they could. They are, however investing in other, more liquid assets.
ToddAldrich 5 months ago
@ToddAldrich Well, I'm glad that you can disagree respectfully without comparing me to a nazi or a communist. I thank you for bucking the trend on youtube.
IMHO, if investors were worried about inflation, they would not be sinking so much cash into U.S. treasury bonds. Expected inflation is simply not an issue in this recession despite the gold bugs wanting it to be. And banks are simply not investing. They are sitting on huge piles of cash to shore up their balance sheets.
shalcall 5 months ago
@shalcall
It could be the market agrees with me and it's a much bigger problem than you'd like to believe.
informedskeptic 6 months ago
@informedskeptic ummm, the S&P rated our sovereign debt, not our stock markets. Our sovereign debt actually went UP in price today. Interest rates on 10 year treasury bonds went down to a low of 2.33%.
All those people selling off in the stock market today, they put their money in Gold and U.S. Treasury bonds. Clearly the market thinks the S&P is full of shit.

You guys are proving yourselves to be the epitome of irresponsibility.
shalcall 6 months ago
@shalcall and that's the problem with Dems, they feel it is the government's responsibility to provide jobs. Many large corporations are flush with cash and could hire but they choose not to for a myriad of reasons because of Obama and his socialist agenda. Now he wants another stimulus...INSANE! Do you not think that companies and small businesses are not concerned about the cost and effects of Obamacare, the mounting debt in this country, the horrible fiscal policy of the last 10 to 15 years??
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper do you have an advanced degree in economics? in anything? the stimulus accounted for 6% of the deficit. why shouldnt the govt provide jobs. JOBS ARE GOOD MONKEY. I bet you are pro-life. YOU CANT BE PRO-LIFE AND ANTI HEALTH CARE. you are completely backwards. every idea you have is based on a logical fallicy and easily disproven.
mkrulic517439 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper No, because I actually believe in economics and the profit motive and not ideology and the religion of austerity. Corporations are sitting on cash because demand is low. If they thought they could make a profit on that cash, they would invest it. Corporations are only taxed on their profit, not their costs. So if expanding would make them money, they would expand. You seem to believe that just making products will create demand. That's not the way it works.

mkrulic517439 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper You're right, because if you really delve into the numbers, Obama and congress have not done much of anything. People love to mention the "stimulus." However, the stimulus, which consisted of about 40% in tax cuts was not very much direct spending, was split up over several years (it has not all been spent) and was almost completely offset by cuts on the state and local levels. From an economic perspective, it kept the status quo and was not "stimulative."

Ya, like the Republicans have done anything. This whole economic collapse began on a Republican watch.
Wake up, people. BOTH PARTIES ARE THE SAME!
PHenry500 6 months ago

RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen your head's not in the sand but in your ass! What successful business, government, or any entity for that matter, has ever been able to spend it's way to prosperity? The answer is none. Please enlighten us and tell us what is wrong with a balanced budget. And the money is not behind the GOP, it's in Obama's campaign coffers. Here's to hoping that money is going to a lost cause in 2012. He will go down as the worst president ever.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago 2
@jefferyculpepper To answer your question Mr. Culpepper the United States of America spent it's way to prosperity after the GOP got us into the Great Depression with poor governess and lack of over site. Thanks for asking.
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen The economics are absolutely not there to support us spending our way to prosperity now...not sure where you studied economics. How many baby boomers are retiring on a daily basis? If Obama taxed all of the millionaires and billionaires that he loves to hate at 100% we would still have a deficit. He loves to throw the term "fair share" around but makes darn sure that 51% of Americans pay no federal income tax...what's fair about that??
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago 2
@jefferyculpepper What's fair about that sir is the people that you say pay no income taxes pay more in payroll taxes as a percent of their income than does Warren Buffet. Income taxes are not payroll taxes. Another neat little GOP word trick you are using.
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen We all pay payroll taxes so what's your point? And while you're bringing up percentages, I am sure that Mr. Buffet pays more as a % of his income in taxes than does your payroll tax example. I am also pretty sure that he is in the 35% tax bracket and last time I checked, payroll taxes were nowhere near that number. Lame argument. By the way, how many jobs has John Q Payroll Tax created? How many people does John Q Payroll Tax employ? A big fat 0! How's that for a neat trick?
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper And oh Mr. Culpepper you might want to study up on the term leverage, capitalists use it a lot.
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen I'm very familiar with leverage but based on $17T in debt, that leverage gets smaller and smaller. If you are not for a balanced budget, what's your answer? What's your suggestion?
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper Thanks for asking for my suggestion. Tax the drug companies that have benefited from Medicare part D. Tax the medical equipment companies that bill Medicare at a 300% mark up for motorized chairs for our people that are now to fat to walk from eating fast food everyday. Tax the millionaires and billionaires that have been enriched from our wars that we have not yet paid for. Let the Bush Tax Cuts expire. And of course never again have a policy of preemptive war.
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen Why pay for any medical expenses at all as a result of someone's choice to be fat, smoke or use drugs? Why are my tax dollars spent for that? Good point and I agree with you there. So, you're saying all millionaires and billionaires got rich off of of the wars? Really?? Again, what's wrong with something like the Fair Tax and a balanced budget to go with it? Why can't EVERYONE pay their "fair share"? I have no issue with paying higher taxes as long as everyone is contributing.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
And where's the promised jobs? The booming economy we were promised with the stimulus? How's the value of your home these days?? Oh, right, all George Bush's fault, right. Nothing to do with Frank and Dodd??? Give me a break. Beating the "It's Bush's fault" drum is getting really long in the tooth.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago 2
@jefferyculpepper Now your just making stuff up ...... are you working for FOX? No one I repeat No one promised a booming economy would be brought about by the stimulus.
Do you really what to talk about jobs? Jobs created during a GOP Presidents vs. jobs created during a Democratic Presidents? The numbers are not you your favor Mr. Culpepper.
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen You're right, the left hates a booming economy with a passion.

RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen Here's a sampling of awesome Obama quotes regarding the stimulus: “Millions more Americans will lose their jobs. Homes will be lost. Families will go without health care. Our crippling dependence on foreign oil will continue. That is the price of inaction.” How are home values, foreclosure rates, the price of fuel, and unemployment numbers now?
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@RSNelsen Here's another jewel: “This plan will save or create over three million jobs — almost all of them in the private sector.” Or this one: “Number two, it is expected that we are going to lose about a trillion dollars worth of demand this year, a trillion dollars of demand next year because of the contraction in the economy. So the reason that this has to be big is to try to fill some of that lost demand." Shovel ready, ha!
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper And if the GOP had been in charge as we were in the depths of the deepest recession in 50 years , the worse recession in our lifetimes they would have done NOTHING. This is why I will always be a democrat.
Very good quote by the way, it explains why the government, controlled by the democrats at the time thank God, did what they did, spent money and cut taxes on the middle class.
I am a small business owner and the stimulus helped soften the blow of the recession for me.
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen And what did we get for all that money spent? How many jobs at $278K? Just like a Democrat thinking that is a good deal. Are you kidding me? I'm glad you have a crystal ball to play the "well if the GOP game"...again, really? It's sad that you and the rest of the Democrats always look to the government to care for your every need. What ever happened to self reliance? Sleep well knowing the cost of your good fortune thru stimulus now rests on mine and my children's shoulders. Pathetic.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper What did we get for our trillions spent on our war in Iraq that our children's children may some day pay for? I'll take the stimulus over preemptive war any day of the week Mr. Culpepper.
The stimulus saved my employees jobs the wars took my friend's lives and limbs.
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen Same thing we are getting with Libya I guess.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper Really Mr. Culpepper? Libya same as Iraq? How many boots on the ground in Lybia? Your entitled to your own opinions sir but not your own facts.
Our current President is ending the wars started by but not paid for or ended by the last President.
Now the GOP wants to cut, cut ,cut because "we have a spending problem not a revenue problem" .
The GOP mantra marches on ... Gov is bad , Gov doesn't work, elect me and I'll prove it to you.
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen What facts are you alleging that I made up? Are we not engaged in Libya? Have we not already spent money on trying to cripple Gadhafi's regime? FACT: Last I checked, it's still costing us. The two best quotes that you have posted yet ,although I will qualify the latter: (1) "we have a spending problem and not a revenue problem" - now that is profound (2) BIG OVERREACHING Gov is bad, BIG OVERREACHING Gov doesn't work - even more profound. How's the market doing today? Job #s tomorrow.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper Our government has worked pretty well for far Mr. Culpepper but I have become bored and am moving on from our question and answer session enjoy your rage and arranged facts. I will always remember that our relationship started with you saying that my head was in my ass. As you go about trying to make the world the way you want it to be try to interject a little civility from time to time. Just try it you may like it.
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen And it's still there. By the way, you forgot racist, Tea Party terrorist, etc.. And you also failed to show me where I arranged a single fact. Civility is a two way street.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@RSNelsen and where's the rebuttal on the John Q Payroll Tax/Warren Buffet issue? Again, all that most of us fiscal conservatives want is for everyone to contribute and pay their "fair share" (just paying payroll taxes isn't really fair) and for our federal government to stop spending like drunken sailors.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper OK then a fair tax would be for Mr. Buffet to pay a 8% tax on every dollar he earns just like the cashier at Walmart does ,,,, I'm for for that !!!
RSNelsen 6 months ago
@RSNelsen I'm guessing you are not familiar with the Fair Tax. check out: fairtax.org and free your mind!
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper so u think a couple making $17,000 a yr should pay fed taxes, really & at what rate would u tax them hmmmmm.........
jetbtkng 6 months ago
@jetbtkng Check out fairtax.org and yes, I do think that they should be taxed. Why shouldn't they be taxed? The Fair Tax is based on consumption and not income, and is not levied below and up to the poverty level. I would also suggest that a couple earning $17000 a year either made some questionable choices with regards to education, lifestyle, career field, whatever or it might be time to seek out a new career.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper so u think they should be punished because they only make $17,000 a yr, from fairtax [ The rebate will suffice to fully insulate the poor from paying any tax on net ] so whats the difference between what they pay now & fairtaxes plan, they still wouldnt pay, a fair tax plan would be 10-20-30, people under $20,000 pay 0, then 10% on people $25,000 to $50,000, $50,001to $120,000 pay 20%, $120,001 & up pay 30%, u make more u pay more, now thats fair taxation, anything else is nuts
jetbtkng 6 months ago
@jetbtkng So using your same vernacular, because I make more, I should be "punished" more, right? Why is that? Am I punished because I try harder, paid attention, sacrificed time, effort and money to get ahead??? Based on the Fair Tax, they would owe nothing at the $17000 income level. Based on the Fair Tax though, your $25k-$50K, and your $50K-$100K, and so on would all be taxed the same on consumption at 23%...what's wrong with that?
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago

Let me guess, you're a student, musician, or artist, right??
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper no u dont like the truth, like wall street today, u got what u wanted, just think what would have happened if we defaulted, but i bet u were all for that to huh, lol, i love how u conservatards like to blame the poor & unions for everything, so u got grants & scholarships hmmmm, u didnt pay for your education i assume, more free ride hypocrisy, not everyone has the same opportunities as others, dont have good schools, parents, a structure of support, & im retired, greedy douce.
jetbtkng 6 months ago
@jetbtkng "Bitter, party of one?" Someone is suffering from an extreme case of wealth envy. Got what I wanted? I love seeing my 401k and other investments lose value. Give me a break. You and your ilk are always so free to spend and redistribute someone else's wealth in the name of what's "fair" when all you really need to do is get off your duff and earn your own "fair". You are where you deserve to be. Btw, what is douce? I think you mean douche you moron. You've misspelled it twice now.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper STOP WITH THE FALSE DITCHOTOMIES. I work hard and believe that the rich should be taxed. and I dont give a fuck about your ideas of morality. they dont play here. we are capitalist dumb ass. @jefferyculpepper typical conservatard, avoiding the questions, did u support raising the debt ceiling, who paid for your education, whos this ilk u keep whining about, are u talking about the americans who lost there jobs because of bush & the gop's inept governing, or are u talking about sr citizens who live on ssi & medicare, or is it the children who collect ssi from a deceased or disabled parent, did u know the average middle class wage is down 6% from $58,000 to $54,000 since 08, dam ilk..
jetbtkng 6 months ago
@jetbtkng Hmm, wages down since '08? Strange coincidence I know but wasn't that the year Obama was elected? YOU are the ILK that I keep whining about. I will refer you back to my earlier statement: "you are where you deserve to be". You ASSUMED that I received a free ride thru school, thru life. Neither is the case and we all know about where ASSUMPTIONS lead don't we? I pay more than my "fair share" in taxes now and if you feel obliged to cut the IRS a check for extra $, knock yourself out.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper again u didnt awnser, DID U SUPPORT RAISING THE DEBT CEILING YES OR NO, DID U PAY FOR YOUR OWN EDUCATION YES OR NO, there not difficult to awnser, so u think obama in less than a yr caused the whole economic mess is that what your saying, again either a simple YES OR NO will do.............
jetbtkng 6 months ago
@jetbtkng Can you not read or are you just that DUMB? YES, I paid for my own education. I already answered that. Yes, I supported raising the debt ceiling and yes, I feel alot of the current economic woes are because of Obama and Bush. Obama has done nothing to help but spend good money on bad ideas. As I have said, and you have failed to read, they and their respective congresses are to blame. Period. Do you even have an education? Do you even pay taxes? Do you want to pay more taxes?
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper finally a str8 awnser, so how did u pay for that education of yours, student loans, worked 16 jobs like a jamaican, borrowed it from mom & dad or did they just pay for it, now as far as obama & the economy, if we would have spent more on lets say infrastructure that would have put millions back to work while investing in our countries future, there wasnt enough stimulus spending, schools are in decay, we could have sent unemployed back to school, a myriad of things...........
jetbtkng 6 months ago
@jetbtkng and you forgot to call me a douce again....you NEVER answered what a douce was. You used it twice. I am guessing you might have a high school education and that's about it.
jefferyculpepper 6 months ago
@jefferyculpepper the stimulus did work, but instead of spending $400 billion on failed tax cuts that money should have been spent on infrustructure, weve had more bridge & road work done here in cali than has been done in a long time thanks to the stimulus, & we are the 7th largest economy on the planet, we should have spent a couple of trillion on infrastucture, got rid of bush tax cuts, that would have revived our economy & put millions back on the tax line, u like douces huh.......

Sadly most Republicans think a spending plan would create jobs. Few realize that government is strangling the economy, and even fewer will vote that way, Republican or Democrat. Bush had his failed stimulus plans as well, and people like McConnell, McCain, Boehner and tons of others went along with them.
