its not a matter of a "barrel change". The lower receiver is the same. The difference is that the upper receiver is made for a certain type of round but it is still modeled after the M4 design
Not the M-4 carbine but this is the Colt SMG, it is 9mm and issued to some detachments but not all. Aparently there was something about the manufacture failing to meet the contract and now they have to find another supplier so they are in verry limited numbers.

the m16a4 also has a new-er bolt. the grooves for loading the rounds is slanted more like on the m4 to help loading better. sorry i dont know the technicaly terms for it
Just so you know it is a SMG. If you look at the video, these M4s were retrofitted with a fully automatic reciever that shoots 9mm rounds. M4's shoot 5.56mm rounds. These shoot 9mm.
Sometimes you cant really see the muzzle flash unless you play back the video in slow motion. Yes, it is a SMG because of the 9mm retrofit. And the M4 is a variant of the M16 rifle.

The Weapon is merely Re chambered for the 9x19 Parabellum Round. I bet a simple Barrel Change can make it 9mm, to 5.56x45 Compatible.

that gun wasnt the 5.56mm version you had it was the 9mm short version. unless you did cary this than i must be mistaken.

This is indeed a Colt SMG. Notice the short barrel. MSGs fire the SMG and the M4. The M4s have a longer barrel.
