  • That is true about TKD being more popular than Traditional Filipino Martial Arts. It pissed me off when I was in Manila, I could not find a single Kuntao gym or even a well placed Kali gym but TKD Dojangs were all over the place. I had to go to the provinces to learn Kali.

  • I am a Filipino

  • thanks for the friend invite

  • you are welcome

  • the stick fight only comes in when some filipino found a way to be invincible against bladed weapon (anting-anting).

  • kuntaw is not filipino martial arts. what I know is that some foreigner brought that art in Mindanao long time ago and was practiced by muslims same with silat. the original filipino martial art is the bolo fight. here in bicol we have original bicol martial art: Lubulikapasa;Mongoose;Repelon;daga-daga;armas de mano and many other nameless art which are practiced out in the wild not yet tamed by culture sports. there are many m-artist in Bacacay in ancient time fought with pirates and bandits

  • @joey349harry Filipinos themselves are composed of "foreigners" so, yes, Kuntaw is an FMA.

  • I think all kuntawista should select among themselves who will represent the kuntaw art in MMA. Financial support during practice is very important. Technique sometimes is useless if you have no speed, strength and cardio

  • kuntawistas? I studied Kuntaw in the PI but I never heard the term Kuntawistas, lol. As far as technique, without speed strength and cardio, it is always useless, I don't really see a need for Kuntaw people to get into MMA.

  • I want my people's martial arts be popular, and to preserve the Filipino martial arts. Because I trust kuntaw. MMA is the best way to be become very popular

  • MMA is popular now, and I liked it at first, but lately it is having the same problems that kickboxing did in America when boxers would come in and throw the minuimum requirement of low quality kicks then just punch. MMA is turning into wrestling.

  • wrestling or dancing, MMA is the best way I think to promote kuntaw to the world. Do you have any idea to make at least that Filipino has its own to be proud of?

  • MMA is the hot showcase right now, but seriously, MMA is not going to last. You watch, the concussions are adding up, it wont be long until stories about all the permanent damage having your head pounded on by some maniac, after you are already passed out , start coming out in the press. Foot ball is already feeling that pressure, so is Rodeo, and Boxing, just wait.

  • i think your right

  • kuntaw proven when it comes in a real situation (street fights) when the times you needed the most it's not just in every competition in all category for kata, kumite and weapons i been watching the ufc if they ever practice and using this methods they always going to win.i just hope it will be in the near future MABUHAY!!!!

  • KOOL THEY SHOULD USE THIS ON UFC

  • you are correct, but kuntaw is extremely rare. goodluck trying to fight an insructor. the move they shoud use in ufc is a kuntaw fist block. when a person throws a punch @u in kuntaw, they will block with there elbow. thus breaking your fist and hand. very very deadly art

  • my teacher told me we called that the paralyzer block, lol.

  • Soso Whaley is a whore. I actually had sexual intercourse with her for money once. The price was good, but the sex was only so-so.

  • You're lucky! I had trouble collecting after my night of horrors.

  • wow i really envy ,you my friend. it's been a dream of mind for years to do what your are doing. i hope some day i can do the same.

  • that was dangerous doing demo on cement

  • thanks brooklynmonk1. I hope kuntaw will fight in MMA competition. I believe in Kuntaw, my brother teach me little kuntaw. He learn kuntaw in southern Mindanao .

  • thanks for introducing the arts to your child i am proud that i am one of the kuntawista also

  • yes. kuntaw was already proven many times in a real fight.

  • my teacher told me our motto was "born in sparring", and yea, it works great

  • I dont mind if people copy this one put it on their site, in fact, i am flattered. but Soso Whaley stole the origanl DVD and won't give it back to me, along with hours and hours of original video tape for further episodes of Martial Arts Odyssey. there is one new episode of martial arts Odyssey coming soon, edited by Andy To. So, look forward to it. the stolen ones maybe come worth money some day, the lost episodes of Martial Arts Odyssey.

  • shameless Soso whaley. I keep watching this video many times then I let my kids see this, to tell then that filipino has our own to be proud of. I also like your video about Rambo.
