  • great job!! i have a question though do you think if the back was altered slightly to come up higher in the back this would work and be comfortable? i want to wear it over a dress.....thanks

  • It must hurt to wear that

  • From all the videos I've seen from pros and novices, this is the first useful one I found. Simple and clear, I could easily see how I would change to make it right for me, it's a great pattern to start with.

  • you are very nice, i learnt many things .thank you.

  • The "natural curve" of the boning is just from being rolled up and packed that way. If you run a warm iron over it, it'll flatten out(be pateint though, dont want to melt the plastic). Good job with tutorial :)

  • She's right; she can call it whatever she wants.

It's just a corset! Corsets come in all sizes.

If you want to be VERY technical, I think it might be a waist cincher.

But since I am NOT that technical, it's a corset!

Sweetie, pay them no mind. You did a wonderful job on this.

  • THATS NOT A REAL CURSET LOL JK

  • :) thanks this gave me a great idea for what i want to do:) ill just make my own adjustments

  • All I have to say is your fat is pouring out your sides..

  • That looks really cute. I'm gonna have to try this tutorial. ^_^

  • Yeah, I'm going to be that girl. Saying that it's a corset because you made it is like covering yourself in sticky tape and calamari and saying it's a Victorian gown because you made it and it is what you say it is. But for something like a costume it's cute.

  • @ToriaDumOfTheTweedle That analogy didn't make any sense at all. She's right, most of the world understands a corset to be something worn around your waist that might lace up. Yes, real corset makers know better, but for the majority of today's people, they would look at that and call it a corset-thing. They wouldn't look at duct tape/calamari and call it a Victorian gown. It *is* essentially a belt, but no one looking for this STYLE of belt is going to find it otherwise.

  • I think it's beautiful :)

  • u should of wided the back because it would look better

  • Ahaha boning. XD sorry.

  • your quite the bitch.

  • Thanks for being one of only a few to make a tutorial showing exactly how to make the pattern for a sewing project!! Awesome :)

  • 8:15 omg your hammer is so cute! xD

  • Okay this might sound a little unintelligent but could you wear it backwards?

  • Might this work for dolly kei? I hope so. Thank you for posting this.

  • Finally! You have no idea how long it took me to find a video this good... Mostly because I didn't really know the exact name for this kind of corset.. :/

  • lmao i love how mad you got at the end! lol good job! simple and i live it!

  • "screw you, i made it, i can call it what i want!!" lol. i never say it, but this is the one time i watched a video and actually went...you go girl!!!!! wear what you like and enjoy!!

  • Great job by the way. It would be perfect a pirate costume and ren faire as you were saying. Good suggestion! Do you have any good ideas to make a pirate jacket with feminine touch?

  • Just found you... great video!!! Makes me want to get back into sewing :-) *Subscribed* <3

  • Its such a cute corset! I don't see how it couldn't be considered a "real" corset when there's so many different types of corsets out there and through history. :> It cinches and that's the purpose of a corset! I also liked how you use your sewing machine.. your pose looked slightly awkward and adorable. XD Keep it up! <3

  • Lol, your end message cracked me up. It's cute but not my cup of tea. :D

  • love your ending message. you rule

  • Thank you! This helped me so much for my coruse I'm in!!

  • Thank-you, this is a good idea and versatile, video is very thorough. Could you make a wide waist belt basically using the same method?

  • F-yeah it's a corset! Love your videos!

  • Ducks.

  • me gusta cheesecake

  • @ElliotovHull *rage face*

  • Why did Reddit bring me here? That's what I don't understand. This girl is so angry about Corsets...why?

  • @Evange This is a little stalky.

  • @RaidersFan2469 *like*

  • It rained on me after I watched this.

  • down-vote... def...

  • why is you're face so shiney?

  • @tonytontony1 because i have oily skin

  • Comment removed

  • @Evange Me too, but hey, at least oily skin means moist skin, which means less wrinkles, go us!

  • @tonytontony1 Are you pointing that out because your an asshole??

Or because you have no talent and want to put her down?

  • reddit made me come here.

  • @bringonblink Reddit gave me a virus. Dont go there!

  • @Evange But you just made a post there! i call shenanigans!

  • @bringonblink i dont think you understand how this works

  • @Evange Forever Ashamed

  • @Evange ON NOS TEH END OF THE INTERWEBS!!!!

  • Evange, i think you are cute. Hit me up for a date if you are in the chicago area.

  • we saw you yesterday. we were hiding..

  • Cute vid

  • I love watching videos of people that are really enthusiastic with their hobbies. Even if I'm not interested in corsets. Good job. :)

  • @mdk009 Yes, there is also steel boning.

  • No one showed up to your corset making class either? ;_;

  • Thank you.

  • Boning is optional? ... No, boning is required!

  • @Kmad711 The boning basically keeps the corset from rolling over on itself. So it depends on the fabric, the interfacing, and how tightly you plan to wear it.

  • FOREVER ALONE!

  • I'd date ya FA girl

  • Will you be my girlfriend? Thanks.

  • hahahaha THAT'S NOT A REAL CORSET! hahaha LOVE IT!!

  • @shortnsuite3 Haters gonna hate.

  • @Evange I see reddit taught you well.

P.S. hope you enjoy all the new stalkers.

  • In the uk (I don't know about the states), but you can buy a type of boning that you stitch onto the fabric, this would be good in this situation where you don't have enough seam allowence as you can stitch it into the hem.

I have tried sewing steel boning and found the finish great on a traditional corset where you need that fit, but find that the plastic sew-on stuff is great when you need a bit of shaping.

    Great tutorial!

  • @RuthiesXStitch I think maybe you're using rigilene boning? It's easy to work with, but I'm not a fan of the stuff. It buckles too easily on a figure like mine.

  • Hey Evange, any chance you'd consider posting a video on how to make a mu-mu that would look good on a man? If you do, I'll give up wearing regular clothes forever!!

  • @dantro78 lolwut?

  • These are great! Keep it up.

  • that's not a real corset!! lmao jk...love your videos, especially how you show us newbs how to make our own patterns...keep up with the great uploads!!

  • i love your atitude at the end. :)

  • LOVE IT!!! Evange this tut look friggen awesome! i have always thought doing a vid on the construction of a corset would be to hard but its not! i haven had net for a week and a half and its going to be another week before i get it back and i cant wait to watch this video. xx

  • Fantastic tutorial! I made a renaissance corset a few years back and that was my first experience with boning. And of course I had to make it all friggin elaborate and stuff...THIS would have been so much easier and probably had the same impact LOL. Sometimes I bit off more than I SHOULD chew LOL. <3 love all your tuts <3

  • My dear, whatever of spiral steel boning? I haven't even worn something with it, but the plastic-ish boning I had in a brassiere undergarment mock corset was very unforgiving against my ribs. I know personally that the steel boning can bend all ways, and was wondering if that would be better. Bah, mere speculations tldr

  • @UchihaMoonSerenity That's probably rigaline boning. it tends to buckle and crease under pressure.

I use "plastic whalebone" which is a soft plastic that is very flexible, but still holds its shape.

I've never tried steel boning, but it doesnt seem necessary to me, because the plastic stuff works fine for me.

  • Love it. And what a great start if we wanted to make something more complicated.

  • if only u uploaded this a mouth ago i could of used it for costume in my show lol

  • @s2QueenOfMars I started this tutorial back in February, and have felt guilty ever since because I was too lazy to finish. So now I feel guilty again, even though I finished the tutorial. Thanks a lot :(

  • "Screw you it's my project I can call it what I want!" haha you tell 'em!! I loved the project because i am in love with corsets or anything with that victorian feel. I will probably make it slightly different for myself, but overall great idea!

  • I think you did a wonderful job on the corset. It was easy to follow. I appreciate the time you take to make all your videos. I have watched all of them. Thanks again.

  • your videos are so easy to follow! do you know how to do an actual corset? i'd love to see a more elaborate one. :D You're videos are so helpful for a beginner sewer!

  • @Bulmachan224 This is an actual corset.

  • @Bulmachan224 But yes, I will be doing other corset videos at some point.

  • @Evange Yay! i can't wait. Mind if I ask where you live?

  • @Bulmachan224 Alberta

  • Hi! I from Russia. I only start to sew. All your video very much both interesting and informative. Besides I also learn English language!

  • @yanadicool I'm probably the wrong person to learn from. My grammar is terrible!

  • @Evange I too in Russian write with errors:))))

And here video helps to learn new words and to remember them.

  • That's really cute! You could also use heavy duty zip ties for the boning. They are pretty cheap, but sturdy. Nice job : D

  • @kujaleonhart I dont have a problem with conventional boning, so I've never used zip ties. Although if they work our to be cheaper, I might just give it a try in my next corset tutorial.

  • haha! you were getting upset at the end... i actually really understand what you mean. And anyway to me is a corset since it has boning. Great tutorial! thanks! :)

  • @RubyRoseDIY Go to any video on corsets, and without fail there will be someone in the comments claiming it's not a *real* corset.

  • ★★★★★

  • Where you from? You say "again" all cute lol

  • I LOVE this! Thanks for sharing.

  • xD I had to replay when you said a FUPA. LOL But this is pretty good! i might make it one day. Nice tutorial

  • @MahouNekoShady I believe the scientific term is panniculus.

  • @Evange Either way, it was just funny when you said it! You go girl! I thought it was a corset before the tutorial started. you made it so you can call it what you want!

  • do you know how to work with feathers?

  • @teefrmdabay Not really. And with a lot of the fancier feathers, they're not just a byproduct of meat production, the birds are raised specifically for feathers and die after being plucked. So I'm not sure if it's okay ethically.

Also, I dont have any ideas for projects using feathers.

  • @Evange ohhh, i didnt know that.

  • Love it! Love your attitude also,I am fed up of people posting negative comments to people showing their hard work.

    good for you!

  • @MosaicMaiden go look at any corset video that has been up for a while. Without fail, there will be half a dozen comments about how it's not a *real* corset.

  • i like it :) going to make one for my doll

  • I like how you say "again". I'm from the south so I thought it sounded pretty awesome. :D
