Starting with Rubber Soul in '65, serious artists started taking notice of them. Then they released Sgt. Peppers and it was all over then. They conquered all after that.

I know that there was joke done on SNL about the Beatles reuniting. The thing is, if that actually happened, it might very well have been the greatest reunion of all-time. All four Beatles back together. It was the one and only time that could have happened. Some things just aren't meant to be.
It's easy to wonder what could have been if they had just put their egos to the side, but the fact is everyone in this band was too talented to stay together and make songs that each of them wrote. It was going to be either John or Paul's songs that the band would record so Ringo & George did not feel wanted more and more.

Wow, I just love to see them playing music damn tightly on a rooftop without permission. And having just as much fun as ever, just looking older than than the last time they played live.
The greatest part is at this point they just didn't give a shit. They were told to turn it down. They said no. They were told they'd be arrested if they didn't stop playing, and they said fuck it. I know that there was joke done on SNL about the Beatles reuniting. The thing is, if that actually happened, it might very well have been the greatest reunion of all-time. All four Beatles back together. It was the one and only time that could have happened. Some things just aren't meant to be.

It's easy to wonder what could have been if they had just put their egos to the side, but the fact is everyone in this band was too talented to stay together and make songs that each of them wrote. It was going to be either John or Paul's songs that the band would record so Ringo & George did not feel wanted more and more.

What a bunch of stupid bastards those cops! Instead of organizing traffic and allowing the people to go up the buildings so they can watch the band play, they tell the Beatles to stop! What an infamy! Nobody realized at that moment that this would be the very last time they'd see/hear The Beatles play live! Hope those cops live in permanent remorse!

Looking at them playing together here you couldn't guess that they were at the end with Abby Road their upcoming last Album to be recorded. I think what killed them was all the post Rubber Soul Psychedelic crap. This is the kind of music they rocked in Hamburg, the Cavern, real rock n roll. Had they played more of this and stopped trying to be so clever. We were cheated of seeing Abby Road performed live because they wasted so much time on crap psychedelia and Savoy Truffles.

@112proof Most of what the Beatles did is considered a mix of genres best labeled as pop-rock, without today's negative connotations of pop. Very influenced by blues among other things.

The greatest part is at this point they just didn't give a shit. They were told to turn it down. They said no. They were told they'd be arrested if they didn't stop playing, and they said fuck it. They wanted to be drug away from there instruments, they knew this was the last time, and what a memorie it would be if they were all arrested at their last gig. The Beatles just don't give a fuck.
