Although I grew up in a Republican family, Kennedy is one of my favorite presidents. He had a charisma and presence and sense of humor that was magnetic.
I also loved his obscure speech about the dangers of secret orders that he gave shortly before his death.
This clip clearly shows a president who knew what he was talking about. Not the glibness of Bush, nor the wonkiness of Clinton., and with more spine than Obama. Also, he'd was very honest, admitted his failures, weaknesses, mistakes but did not gloat about his successes. God, we could use him again now.
If Obama had been assassinated two years after taking office, he would be equally glorified as JFK. I am sure, Kennedy would be similarily seen as Obama now, if he had served his 4 or, more probably, 8 years (I am not saying that he wasn't a good president by the way).
This video is probably the best example of JFK and how he could articulate himself better than any other ,the man had the gift of speech which wasn't soundbite ,he spoke from knowledge and expierence and a man who in the main did his homework and knew his tuff .Thank you for uploading .
President Kennedy exhibits eloquence and foresight that eclipses anything we see today. I would like to believe that President Obama possesses those same characteristics, but he lacks the charisma and compelling nature that personified John F. Kennedy.
@GarryHarriman As much of an assassination buff as I am I believe a lot more is to be gained from JFKs example of leadership than ever will be gained by knowing why the criminals who murdered him did it.
One thing I notice is a degree of honesty and even humility that leaders today seem to lack. Thanks for posting this. It is important I think for people who weren't around then to understand a bit what kind of leader JFK was. I believe he was one of the most impressive public figures in my life time.
This is a great clip. JFK is very insightful and more articulate than I thought. In my opinion only Obama reaches his level of eloquence and sophistication.
equality and the middleclass began to die when this man was killed. so much of what JFK speaks about being being an opposition to change is still among us stronger than ever.
They don't make presidents like this anymore.

I wish we had a President this intelligent today, I don't think Obama or Bush or Clinton had anywhere near the intellect of JFK
