The Phoenix was a POS, it never worked right, could never target correctly let alone hit targets in very large distances.

The best use for them was to shoot then at nothing and watch them fly, best 2 million bucks the Navy could spend.

@Tomcatsux4ever LMAO. In what way was the F14 a piece of shit? The F/A-18 E/F isn't particularly good as an interceptor/fighter and certainly doesn't live up to the F-14's standards. It doesn't offer the same payload or range either. It also has a lower top speed. Only real benefit of the F/A-18 is that it is a newer airframe and as a result, requires less maintenance. Carrier operations are very demanding on airframes, so the Hornet will also be unreliable too after a 30 year of service.
