  • HI Daniel, i'm a friend of Russ Appleyard and Alan Perlman. I first heard of you music through Russ and now am looking to buy a Kora and take some lessons. Your playing is really great to say the least. Do you have a CD of your playing to Kora?

    Thanks

    Chris Yeaton

  • @cybythesea Thank you for the message. So cool you know Alan. He was my first teacher!

Hope you managed to find a kora.

I do have two recordings out on Magnatune, Heartstrings and Calabashmoon.

    Good luck and take care,

    Daniel

  • You are the first white person I see playing the Kora, I was beginning to think it was impossible. I would like to get my hands on one of those also, they have a beautiful sound.

  • Daniel, this piece is brilliant! Has a bit of Arabic flavor, too, what part of Africa is it from?

  • this is kind of late but this istrument the kora (or African Harp) is from West Africa

  • @kjung2000 This piece is called Kurra. I learned it from my teacher Alan Perlman who learned it from the late Amadu Bansang Jobarteh.
