  • i did trek 30 this past summer! we got caught in the fire that was 1 mile away from our camp and had to evacuate on the second night

  • i did the trip with lyme's diesease, medicated on stuff that makes your skin very sensetive to the sun so i could not expose my skin for long periods of time even my hands had burned a layer of skin off so i had to wear gloves. well the trek was about 90 miles my crew consisted of about 3 different troops i was from troop 74

  • I got back on the 29th of July our troop did trek 14 we summitted Phillips and got up at 4 Am to climb the tooth it was still dark =D most inspirational thing in my life. One heck of a time!

  • @howfunnyami2 It makes you want to go back already, doesnt it?

  • i just got back 2 days ago. awesome place

  • Made this trip with Troop 3 in 1966. My older brother was a ranger for 3 years there and was running the mess hall the year I went. I was so proud and happy to see him so far from home. Philmont looks the same but the world has changed. Even the great flood they had when my brother was a ranger there could not destroy its natural beauty and my introduction to it. Nice video.

  • MINIBEARS!!!! LOL

  • @jessesetsfire "Theyre mean and spiteful creatures"

  • Nice to see it still looks the same as did back in '96 and '98 when I went. It truly is a life changing experience. The best memory I have is watching the sun rise from the top of Comanche Peak. Every scout should have a chance to make this trek it really is something else. I hope that I can go back someday.

  • I went to Philmont in 2000 it was so much fun I miss it. Hopefully I will be a counselor this summer! fingers crossed

  • im going backpacking here in one week from today! so excited! any tips anyone?

  • @FlipYak Waterproof. Everything.

  • as my 1st time goin i was the pace setter on the 3rd to last day. Came 20 feet away from a bear in the morning i stopped, turned around and i was like "bear" and people whipped out there cameras, then bout 10 seconds later her cubs ran away right behind her. i got to fill out a bear sighting report!

  • i went last year and i was at the borderline of the physical abilitty to go i was at the smallest weight limit for 5"4' haha but my ranger took us out really early in the morning to give us his "parting gift" he took us to sit on the top of "The Tooth" to watch the greatest sunrise of all time ya this was an intense trip.

  • I'm going the last week of July and the first week of August, I can't wait! I'm going with my son who is 14!

  • The people who said my boots were waterproof never went to Philmont.

  • Philmont is one of the best places in the world. Except for it raining everyday around 2 O'clock

  • Its cool to see all the places on went on my trek again, that map shot looks like you guys had a pretty rough trek.

  • Lots. And Lots. Of Rain.

  • ok i was there over the 4th of july and we got at total of 3 hours or rain! everyone told us how bad the rain was going to be. dry.

  • @mclapel I hope you enjoyed not being soggy and damp the whole trip.

I don't think my socks were ever dry the whole ten days we were out.

  • @johnv811 same here! at one point i remember lying on teh ground in my leaky rainjacket screeming curses at the weather! but it was stillan awesome trip

  • greatest scout trip of my life. :)

    defaintly a life changing experience.

  • Anyone know the song title and artist in this vid?

  • It's Speed or Armor.

  • it sucks because im 1 year too young to go this year adn its the only year my troop is going in a long time

  • ask your council if there is a contengit crew going. i know people who do that, or they get put in a crew with a few open spots from another troop/

  • I just got back from Philmont today!

  • did it rain alot? im leaving on monday?

  • Not until we got there, then it rained every day. After we left,it stopped.

  • i went to Philmont in 2007 and i get to go back for the 100 year anniversary. tooth of time wasnt what i expected, but mt phillips, wow that was the best of times and the wost of times. on our way up we got hit by hail. in June!?!

  • Yeahh we got stuck on aptly name Thunder Mountain.

Lightning position for a half hour?

    Sucks.

  • lmao not as bad as hiking 2 miles up hill in rain

  • Haha Oh no, we did that too.

Rained eight out of the ten days we were there.

  • wow wish i would have gone... almost 18... almost have my eagle too just need my project and swimming lol

  • Swimming is like the easiest one!

    Haha besides fingerprinting..

You can totally still go if you want to.

Youd just be an adult leader

  • NO FIRE SAFETY thats easy lmao

  • heh i went to awsr and got finger printing in like 2 minutes

  • wow i never oictured philmont like that.
