  • One of the greatest sounds of my teens. he was fantastic, tragic.

  • What a legend!! <3 Went to his statue the other day and got a picture was amazing <3 LOVE HIM

  • My luv for his song never ends..well gone were the days where good songs n music really to be remembered till the end of time.

  • I was lucky to meet Billy at an Elvis convention but it wasa crying shame to see the shadow of himself, from when I saw him at the height of his fame.

  • @spooky31ful Billy`s health declined steadily from the mid 70`s on.....very sad. Britain`s best pop/rock/ballad singer.....Ever.

  • Oh! for those memories to return,Just can't find the ttalent these days without being manufactured. Adele being the exception to the rule

  • What did he die of???

  • @1bridlington Heart Attack. After suffering all of his life with heart problems.

  • I want to be your lover, but your friend is all I've stayed.

What exactly does the above mean. Great tune though

  • @cludoe It means he loved her but she only saw him as a friend, therefore halfway to paradise. Hope that clears it up for you.

  • Billy was really unique. As you can hear his style was totally different from others in the sixties and seventies. I was a young squaddie doing my basic training when Billy's songs were hitting the chart one after another, and we couldn't help but admire Billy for his talents. Imagine then how sad it was to learn he was not in the best of health all the time he was making hit records. But you're not forgotten Billy !!

  • NOT LONG BEFORE HE DIED, BILLY MADE AN APPEARANCE ON A T.V. CHAT SHOW AND EVERYONE THOUGHT HE WAS GAY!!! HE WAS QUITE EFFEMINATE, BELIEVE IT ORNOT. AND THEN HE DIED NOT LONG AFTER AND A LIGHT WENT OUT. NOT SO WHEN HALF THE OTHERS DIED. BUT, IN BILLY'S CASE, IT DID.

    REST IN PEACE.

  • DID BOBBY VINTON RECORD THIS BILLY FURY MUSIC FOR THE AMERICAN MARKET? I HAVE A FEELING HE DID.

  • @squirell1952 U.S singer Tony Orlando recorded the original version.

  • 1967 habe ich Biiy Fury in Great Yaemouth gehört. Es war göttlich.

  • LoL my dads karaoke song. I'm listening to it to learn the song and sing it better than him, which, to be honest, wouldn't be hard...

  • nice touch we have seen that tribute - a truly great singer

  • I thought Billy was a great singer. I had the pleasure of interviewing his brother Albie. He told me that Billy started writing songs on bits of paper when he was in his early teens.

  • my grandads song :/

  • I was so jealous when he got married, I was about 5yrs old, but adored him, I was in the UK on the day he died, my friend quipped when we heard the news, "Well he'll be halfway to Paradise now", I was devastated, he was so ill and so thin when he died, bless him... R.I.P Billy xxx

  • I wonder if he carried one of those small pocket combs with him, like the fondes on happy days and combed his hair whenever he saw a mirror.

  • just come back from a day in liverpool at the waterfront festival and there is a statue to billy fury and some kind people had put two bunches of flowers as a tribute nice touch

  • The Weakest Link.

  • i used to sing this on karaoke coz i had a beautiful gf now i dont sing it at all because iv got no one to sing it to :(
