In Post world war II england during the 50's Elvis and other american acts had a HUGE impact on the youth becuase there was so much dispair and poverty. So sprang the british invasion etc...Morrissey is paying homage to Elvis for that reason. So in a way Rock and Roll inspired a generation and helped heal europe. At least that's what I got out of it...
I don't know what it is about "How Soon is Now?" but this song has always been tops on my list of my Favorite Smiths/Morrissey Songs...It is just the most beautifully written song in history. "I want to see people, and I want to see life..." is a great line. How many people feel the same? I don't think I am alone here.
