  • Advocaat's hair is the real highlight. Check it out at 3:07

  • @PoorlyJudged Very funny.

  • Hup holland! neit engels.

  • "Het is nog lang geen sinterklaas" haha

  • 1993 or 1994 ???

  • @BoyBangla 1993...this is the qualifiers

  • Even as a Scot I have to acknowledge a shockingly poor piece of refereeing with the Koeman foul.. I have to say though my favourite bit of the video is at the guy in the crowd with the amazing taché! Check it out at 5:01.

  • Wie is de commentator? Jan Roelfs?

  • Wat een geweldige commetator

  • What's that at 0:30, an Englishman showing an imaginary card? I thought they didn't do such things...

  • Comment removed

  • @kaylonW its 93, back then it was a yellow card

  • the dutch approach reminds me of a certain world cup final recently... the english style was also recognisable, though.

  • Platt looked for it. Yellow card seems about right..

  • Never like to see that, players trying to get other players sent off.

  • D.I.V.E.

  • wow refereeing certainly has changed

  • Why was Koeman not sent off?

  • The England team under Graham Taylor was pretty poor, and they didn't really deserve to qualify for USA '94, never mind beat the Netherlands.

However that doesn't alter the fact that Koeman was a cheating fat wanker.

  • Thank you holland from SCOTLAND!

  • @Upeter2 hahahaha Scotland! Wonder if we'll ever see you at a World Cup again...

  • @lawdawgit Aye mate one day you will,WHEN YOU HEAR THE NOISE OF THE TARTAN ARMY BOYS,WE`LL BE COMING DOWN THE ROAD!!!!!!!

  • is that david platt??? num 7

  • haaha seaman!!

  • @entopic Objectively, you are right on the last man thing. The directive for red cards on this came at the same time the offside rule was changed to include players level with the last man as onside: at the start of the 1992-93 season. So by the directive, the ref should have sent Ronald K off and given a free kick. Objectively :-)

  • BERGKAMP!!!

  • we can all see here that seaman was not that good.

  • @entopic

But you know what if the english loose something.... there is always something wrong out the other teams refs etc etc. Everyone in the whole world has sometimes the same thing against them. Not only the english or britisch squads and atletes. They better look in the mirror mores in England. Maybe they are just not good enuf at some time?

  • @petrusaloisius I'm English and you know what - you are right! This Holland team had more right to be at the finals than Graham Taylor's useless crew. But I'm a bit biased, I always loved the Dutch teams, since the 70s. I was even sorry to see Bertie's side lose the final. But entopic is right on the last man thing ;-)

  • waar is dit? In het olympisch stadion?

  • @entopic

u must be blind...the koeman thing was outside the penalty area. Buy some glasses please. Red cards were not shown for tackling last men in that time, so u r dopuble wrong.

  • If I was one of the England players that night and Koeman had offered to swop shirts with me after the game, I would have, at the very least, wiped my arse with it just like he did in '88...

Awful referee that night, he wouldn't be out of place in today's Premiership

  • England also hit the post with a free kick in the first half

  • Say oooh aaah Ed de Goey, say ooh aah Ed de Goey!!!

  • where is gullit and van basten and van breukelen ? what happen to them ?

  • @superlex611 This is 1993, van Basten and van Breukelen had retired, Gullit was over 30 and on the bench at Sampdoria. Just enjoy Carlton Palmer's Cryuff turn.

  • @MichaelDemimonde : Gullit was not on the bench at Sampdoria: According to his coach Erikson " he was playing the best football of his life in his 5 years in Italy" He played so good that season that Milan got him back for the next season, and he was recalled to the national team; although his disagreement with the national coach, along with Van Basten's injury hurt Holland's chance of winning the W. Cup. Also, Van Basten was not retired yet; he was still trying to comeback. He retired in 1995.

  • @14mooler They got Gullit back for...8 games. He was soon off talking about sexy football in England. He got two more caps for Holland. Van Basten didn't play many more than that this season either, and never again after the european cup final. The point is, that's where those three were by this match: finished, whatever Eriksson might have to say about it..

  • @MichaelDemimonde I respectfully disagree: As for Van Basten: he tried 2 years to get back to the game but he couldn't make it. At the time nobody thought he was finished, otherwise he wouldn't go under surgeries on his damaged ankle to recover. As for Gullit: The reason he played only 1 game is because he was substituted in half time against Scotland and he walked off the camp. Both the coach and Koeman tried to make him change his mind and play in the W.Cup, but they couldn't succeed.

  • @MichaelDemimonde Also, Bryan Glanville of "World Soccer" magazine, wrote after the 94 W.C that "with Gullit, Holland could have defeated Brazil ". That is hardly the definition of a finished player. Why would a club like Milan (at the time, arguably the best team in the world) get back a "finished" player for next season, specially at a time that only 3 foreign players could play in each game? However, I agree that after getting back to Milan, he was never the player who shined in Sampdoria.

  • @14mooler Right...the point being that Advocaat didn't miss him and didn't need him. The Dutch should have beaten an average Brazil (aside from their forward pair) anyway, there might have been room for a 27-year-old temperamental Gullit in that team, but I don't think Advocaat cared. The Dutch looked good and were putting together the team that was the best in 1998. I seem to remember 'career-threatening injury' being the phrase attached to van Basten for the whole of 1993.

  • Waar is Gullit dan ?

    Advocaat sucks !!!!

  • toevallig whiteguywhith? WATDAN ojaa paintedBLACK

  • No penalty, he started outside with the pulling. so its a freekick

  • @jordonoNL but if a foul starts outside the penalty area and continues inside it is a penalty. Which it was. Which the referee gave at first!

  • england were robbed, but i think with a bit of luck they will go very close if not win this world cup

  • Your mad mate. No chance.

  • The referee was German as well. He was banned from refing iny more internationals after this one.

  • Also the highlights don't show the Koeman got 2 attempts the score the free kick. Anyone know why because i could not see the reason. ABSOLUTELY MUGGED!!! I don't blame the dutch though, even though jan wowters(can't spell his name) blatanty took out Englands best player (Gasgoigne) in an earlier game, hence why he was no one the field.

  • You are right. I'm Dutch and I do remember watching this game back then...

I thought Wouters broke Gascoignes cheekbone in the previous match. Also Koeman should have been sent off. Anyways, England is going to the world cup next year. Hope you guys will do well!

  • Even the free kick instead of the penalty England got was charged down from about 4 yards. The rule is supposed to be 10 yards from the ball. Hang your head in shame ref. On orders from UEFA and FIFA probably, as the have always hated English football and wanted the dutch there instead i reckon.....

  • England got mugged once again. Not only was it a penalty but kooman should have been sent off. Then he would not have been on the field to score the dutch goal either.

  • Should have been a penalty. Slowly Koeman

  • Bye bye England!!!!

  • Lets be down the Dutch were just superb

  • Ik was erbij...geweldig _O_

  • hoe oud was je toen:P

  • So what? He could have scored in the CL final for the Pope and stll would be what he is.

  • check /watch?v=V_WWLNCO-6g ;-)

  • Dat waren nog eens tijden!
