  • So bummed I missed this production, but I had to chuckle; looking at them here, I thought they were singing a Sid and Nancy musical.

  • Whats the name of this song?

  • Thought he channeled joe strummer when we saw this live.

  • i've heard that he's scottish. if he is, is he using his accent in this

  • brilliant.

they both communicate the whole.. story so accurately, the complexity of the relationship between the two, the simplicity of it all, and the strength that lies within weakness.

an still....if that guy just..... looked at me ......like that.....

    heaven help me!

  • Epic name xD

  • I love in this performance all there is on stage for the most part of it is Alan and Cyndi singing in costume...now THAT'S a performer who can fill up such space with nothing more than themselves

  • No offense but...Is he gay?

  • @lasse4eva If I'm not mistaken, he is a self proclaimed "pan-sexual".

  • Hate Brecht, Love Alan :)

  • Did anyone else catch Alan's sexy smile at 2:35? :D

  • If there ever was a biography movie done about Maynard James Keenan from Tool/A Perfect Circle, Alan Cumming would be perfect for the part!!!

  • Three people got the sharp end of Mackie's flick-knife.

  • How many english versions are there of this piece?

  • why dont they use alan cumming MORE!!! hes strange and in his strange way VERY handsom! I tuned in on good wife after he came in to the picture in the TV show XDDD

  • i saw this guy with mr bean on blind date show

  • Cyndi Lauper is soooohhh under-rated

  • Awww...so nice. I'm at loss for words. ^^

  • They would make a great Harlequin and Joker

  • @heartache46 omg yess!

  • She is 53 there!! She looks amazing

  • @adaycalledzero Amazing indeed! I would never have guessed! She's great.

  • He would be good in the phantom of the opera. Good man :)

  • Alan is so gorgeous...and a really nice guy. Two in one :) Very charming he is.

  • Wow, this is amazing! Their chemistry is great. :)

  • hmmmmm

  • I WISH THERE WAS A CD!!!

I love this adaptation of the song because the language makes you sense much more longing and suffering within the characters... even by simply changing "And so we lived, me and my little mouse In that snug two by four where we kept house." to "and then you'd wash beneath that golden dome of that cold brothel you and I called home." The longer O vowels just give it that extra punch and passion that is just so delectable to the tongue.

  • he's talented, he will do a few more better things, and it never looks to be getting old,

  • Alan Cumming is incredible. Our school is doing this show next year, and I'm ecstatic!

  • what is this song called?

  • I just remembered this performance the other day! Thanks for posting!

  • ...and I thought he was pornographically sexy as Emcee...but here...he's totally...ughhhhhh *dies*

  • i absolutely love cyndi lauper's voice, but she sounds especially great here

  • What song is this from the Threepenny Opera? I definately want to get it :D

  • the ballad of pimp

  • This song is epic.

  • ALAN ROCKS!

  • I wonder how he'd sound as the Phantom.

  • @PhantomBrick i asked him on askalan.

he said, wow, i've never considered. and i think thats best for all of us!

  • I really love Alan Cumming, over the years he has inspired me to get back into the theatre arts. =D

  • Alan totally looks like Marc Almond in this video.

  • How about Alan Cumming and Cyndi Lauper in Mack and Mabel!

  • Alan Cumming is so amazing and Cindi Lauper is so not.

  • agreed

  • I love this! The both have that smokiness in their voices that makes them so perfect for these roles.

  • cyndi's voice inherently has a world-weary sound, so she can pull this singing role off quite well...and alan is alan, enough said :D

  • @cazia9 agreed :D

  • This makes me sad. I really like the way this production is done but I REALLY don't like any of the recordings of this show .. at least out of the ones I've heard. I think they're all too dry or too bright. This one was so dark it was marvelous.

  • i am sooooo sad that this cast never made a recording. if only they had a reunion to record it!!

  • Do you think he could play Frank 'n' Furter in Rocky Horror?

  • tim curry was brilliant in that role, but i think alan would do a great job as well! and he'd look brilliant in the make-up too :P

  • This is so powerful, behold the power of the theatre.

  • They're fantastic!

  • i absolutely love this video cause we can her Alan's actual accent!!! and the way he sings in this....it's so sultry and alluring.

    *que the swoons*

  • he looks like scar.

    :D

  • Well, I'm really not excited about Spiderman. Broadway is going to pieces, the last thing it needs is yet another stupid Disney-esque musical. Though I'm excited for Alan...I'm a huge fan. I'm just saying, it's totally unnessicary. I mean...honestly...Spiderman....the musical? Come on people, the theater is a place for brilliance and art...not Spiderman.

  • I agree Im glad to see Alan on stage again.... but in something meanful and orginial. When I first heard Superman the musical, Im like whats next Twilight the musical. Come on! There are many more in deepth shows, like Next To Normal that should be running and arnt. But thats just my view of things.

  • Oh God, can you imagine a Twilight musical??? "EDddddddward, I'm clumsy and need your creeeeeepy stare!"

PUKE! Let's not give them any ideas.

  • @MargoJean25 God bless the fact that Alan Cumming almost was involved in Spiderman (to be the Green Goblin)! Cumming stated he was so grateful to escape the actrocity.

  • @MargoJean25 Twilight the musical? Oh god don't give them ideas, it'd be the end of the world

  • why? Twilight the books are actually not poorly written from what I've heard, yeah the movies you can complain about but that was made by MTV, i'm sure a musical or play would be very different from the movies entirely. Personal I think a play about vampires would be amazing. Vampire diaries would be better as a play because of the story of the two brothers, and different scenes in different times.

  • @BryonAWitHonors Buffy Season 6 Episode 7 Once More With Feeling

  • @MargoJean25 Don't even joke about a Twilight Musical. Knock on wood quick! It might come true, and then this world really will have gone to pot! XD

  • @hanshandslover why? Twilight the books are actually not poorly written from what I've heard, yeah the movies you can complain about but that was made by MTV, i'm sure a musical or play would be very different from the movies entirely. Personal I think a play about vampires would be amazing. Vampire diaries would be better as a play because of the story of the two brothers, and different scenes in different times.

  • @BryonAWitHonors vampire musical: Tanz der Vampire (dance of the vampires) . it was a flop on broadway, but still a big success in Germany. Made after polanski's film. its cool.

also, Interview with a vampire was made into a musical too, it flopped.

  • why can this not be on CD?!!!?!?!?!?!

  • god he's gotta sexy voice....hmm, yum lol

    love you alan

  • i always like alan's performance, but this new woman i'm seeing for the first time did an amazing job with singing. Such a catchy song :P i likey. Kewl end.

  • I love Alan!

  • i cant wait to see him play the green goblan in the new spiderman turnoff the dark musical

horray for julie taymore and allan comming finallly working together

  • WHAT?! Tell me more!

  • they also worked together in 1999 on the film Titus Andronicus, which is a very good film, and they worked together for The Tempest, which should be coming out sometime this year.

Didn't know about the Spiderman musical. You think it'll be good? I mean, I saw the Lion King on Broadway, but does anyone know what to expect?

  • all i can say is remember what everyone said when julie taymore anounced that she was going to be brinining the lion king to broadway and people were extrmly skeptical

    expect soemthing like that

  • What part is Alan going to play in "The Tempest?"

  • He's going to play Sebastian.

  • Great!

  • sebastian

  • Uh...don't you mean "Taymore and Cummings finally working together again." What was _Titus_ if not work?

  • I want a cast recording of this show so badly.

  • Sooooo sexy!!!

Handsome,an accent, and he can sing!!!!!

The combination of all things I find awesome! lol

  • wow this video smells of sex .....

  • ALAN is the best

  • Bravo Cindi..she's great. Love alan always.

  • Alan thinks she's G..R..E..A..T!

  • I think i've seen this at least 10 times in the past day. :D

    he's amazing.

  • I never get tired of watching him! He was born an entertainer.

  • I agree!

  • he makes me smile so much :)

  • I love Alan he is very gorgeous! I luvs him soo much, he is soo adorable as well....& I agree with you Cadyrose19 ^^

  • he is the scottish sex!!!

  • Anyone know what this opera is actually about?

  • Holy cow! He sings too!? This is like my dream man! Rotflol!

  • omg...i wish i saw this with alan cumming!! hes amazing!!

  • Not only is Cumming great so is Lauper. Incredible. I wish I had seen this when it was on Broadway.

  • Ditto =)

  • Alan Cumming is unattainable on so many levels it's ridiculous- but god! He's gorgeous! I'd give anything to have him look at me with those smoldering eyes...

  • Isn't it funny how sometimes you discover someonoe in a show, only to realise he's kinda been around all the time? If that doesn't make ANY sense, I meant to say: I watched him in Tin Man and I adore Glitch, then I saw him on Rove last night and realised he's been heaps of movies I've seen and had never noticed him! He's gorgeous! Cute in looks and personality, can SING, act...he's awesome! Though what did he do to his hair in this? lol

  • I saw him live last night. I CRIED HAPPY TEARS I WAS SO LUCKY TO BE THERE WITH HIM!

  • I know and after you find the peorson they seem to be in everything you watch!

  • Sorry but he married his husband in England last year.

  • Damn.....Oh well he's still nice to look at lol

  • mm yummy :D i loove him his birfday is tomorrow!!!

  • I absolutely love him!

  • Gay or not, I still love him.

  • or gay so i heard... :"(

  • yeah i must admit he is pretty SEXY. i love him but ....he is a bit gay srry to all those who love him so... but you have no chance (: lol

  • Bisexual, I think, so there's still a chance for us girls ;)

  • he's married to his bf :( no chance for us girls :(

  • Like I said before he is still nice to look at lol

  • ah, but he was also married to his wife before. So there is a chance xD

  • I am so in love with this gorgeous, talented man !!!!!

  • What did he do to his hair? XD

  • god DAMN.

    i'll take that ANY day!!!!

    mmmm alan cumming.....

  • ALAN CUMMING IS AWESOME!!! He is also a Shakesperean actor and a credit to his native Scotland!!!

  • my sister is in love with him

  • Wow... that was really sexy. I love Alan Cumming :-)

  • Is that Cindy Lauper?

  • That is she

  • Awsome! she looks and sounds great!

  • He's such a great actor & singer.

I had known him as an actor before, but he's a great singer, too, what a surprise :)

    <3

  • I don't know what it's called in this revival, but for the old Raul Julia version it's called the ballad of Immoral Earnings. The lyrics change with every new translation though so it could be called something different now.

  • what's the name of the song?

i want to look up the lyrics.

  • You know Im not a 100% sure..lol But I think its just plainly called the Tango Song.

  • @MargoJean25

Its called the Tango Ballad. Though they changed some of the lyrics for this revival.

  • I know this is rather late, but I believe that this song is called the "Tango Ballad".

  • actually, it is also known as the "Ballad of Immoral Earnings" in the version translated by Ralph Manheim and John Willett.

  • just kidding, the version i mentioned doesn't include this song. sorry.

  • @meaganlkoonce - Zuhälter-Ballade (Ballad of Immoral Earnings) Often translated into the Tango Song.

  • @meaganlkoonce Whenever I've encountered it, it's been entitled "The Ballad of the Pimp".

  • @meaganlkoonce it's real name is "Pimp's Ballad"but it is well known as the Tango Song

  • ugh.... I love alan..... he's so awsome!

  • ditto.

  • I love his voice soooooo much!!!!!

  • He has an amazing voice! And he is the most sexy man alive, and that ever walked the earth! XD ILY Alan!
