agreed! This is one of many training methods, all to enhance survival if and when sh#t hits the fan, or just for fun. Thanks to my escrima brothers for your comments and reassurance! Miraming Salamat, Mabuhay ang escrima! more power more speed!
This skill shows great blade awareness, trust and dedication amongst brothers in the art. Those that is not from the blade arts will NEVER understand this. My utmost respects for Guro Blaise Loong and Guro John Brown. Before anyone disrespect these guys, take time to look at thier lineage.
Fucking morons. Never....never train with live blades. Besides the fact that the techniques suck!!! How can you practice when you are programing to "not" make contact into your sub-concious . This CA warriors...get a clue!!!
Im glad you dont train live blades! We practice many ways of training, this is one element essential to being a competent swordsman, shows skill finesse and dedication to the arts and trust amongst friends/warriors!keep it real train with sharps/blunts, its all good! have fun ,please dont be disrespectful or keep it to your self!peace!
none of the strikes delivered were intended to touch the opponent...what's the use of training with live blades when there is no intention to hit? don't fool yourself....
ChiefLapuLapu, civilized men should give due respect and appreciation to other culture and art. there are no foolish people in these corner of the world. understand, these is the way of filipino swordsmaship. this is the sacred path of the old, the fore fathers of our nation, SVARNADVIPA, the continent of Gold, the mothern time South East Asia.
Phalawan(bahasa word for WAR HERO) is located in the philippines, not malaysia, indonesia, singapore, thailand even brunei. please do not insult everyone here, specially the art. terima kasi pak.(thank you, sir)
Strikes/feeds are on the money the excellent footwork gets us in n out of range of course we have to pull strikes I dont want to cut my training partner, we later practice with sheathed bolos, wooden swords, bastons for touch, sparring and post work for speed and power. Anyways im having fun with it,dont be a keyboard hater. Good luck and more power to ya!
the paired practice of these two gentle men is wonderfuly done. i must say congratulation to their mentor. you guys, we are proud of you, you are worthy of being part and the continuity of our ancient glorious treasures. !viva la filipinas viva!
we use the flatside rather than the edge to parry. edge to edge could damage the blades or dull them.

Do not mistake live blade training with a knife fight.
Playing with a live blade will only enhance some of your attributes that may... help you survive a knife against knife encounter.
Take that for what its worth. Bahala Na Multi-style Stockton Ca.

I must admit,I would rather "bust chops" than
play with live blades! No margin for errors!
I trained with Blaise Loong in June of 2003
it was time well spent! Also met John Brown &
his brother,as well as many other students at
Blayshalla. All the folks at Blayshalla Battle
Academy are courteous & great human-beings!
Keep up the good work! Peace & Aho!
