chows live to about 12 years old, so the books say. I have a golden chow to and i love her SOOOO much.

ive got a chow as well and i would know how it feels to lose such a stubborn but loyal dog....its really hard after all of the great memmories and i feel for you.. if i lost mine il be devastated cause i know there wont be a dog that would replace it..i use mine as a pillow and just giving it a big cuddle when i dunt feel well.. loosing a chow is like losing a companion.. and also a dog that brings hapiness to the family..

i totally agree. i really miss king a lot and so does sugar. there is a brown chow who lives in the neighborhood and sugar starts wagging her tail everytime she sees him because he reminds her of king

yeh this dog is so loving and playful.. whenever i get home my chow is so excited to see me and he roles on his back and i give him a belly rub. whenever i sit down then he knows play time is over then he comes over for a cuddle.. chows in my view are the most passionate dogs ever. and ur king looks in really good condition.. im sure hes looking down at you and sugar right now. and is so fortunate to be raised with such love and care

i think chows are just misunderstood dogs. i agree that they are very loving. in my opinion, they connect more with people than any other breed of dogs.

I sure miss my Chow Snoop. He was hit by a car last yr at age 10 1/2. I can't quit crying. He too was stubborn, but oh so loyal to me and his daddy. Love ur video. He looks so much like Snoop.

im sorry for your loss...i got teary eyed as well thinking my dog only has 4 more years left(12 is the average life span for a chow) i want her to live like 30 years even more

he is beautiful, i love chows they are my fav dogs, my family used to have one by the same name KING he was golden and he died of a broken heart when his best friend our cat died. that video you made was beautiful. it brought a tear to my eye.

I adopted a mutt that is mostly chow-chow. She is the best dog in the world and love her unconditionally, even if she is kind of stubborn! With that being said, he looks mostly chow-chow and I teared up a bit watching your video because it reminds me of my crazy Daisy, she is 5 now. God Bless.

Thank you for posting this video. I just had my black chow chow put down yesterday. He was with me for 14 years. I was with him 'til the very end. I can't even begin to describe the grief that has taken over me. Either way, watching your video is like watching a tribute to my dog as well. You gotta love chows! Stubborn, independent, sometimes unpredictable(mine snapped at me a few times), but full of love.

For the most part, he was very loving and protective. He mostly snapped at me when I wanted him to get off my bed! Chows really do have good intentions, but they were bred to be guard dogs, so no matter what, they will still have that stubborness to them. It's been almost a month and I still cry over the loss of King. I miss him esp. when I someone's at the door or when a Domino's commercial is on TV. He would always go straight to the door and growl and bark.

Yeah....these dogs definitely have a very strong will. My dog would growl at me when I'd try to move him against his will.  I take full responsibility for that though. I should have worked on that early on. What I wouldn't do to bring him back right now. Gosh I miss him.

You know, this brought tears to my eyes. I have 2 chow chows, one is 14 yeas old and the younger is 6 years old. And this was very emocional since my older dog is sadly sick and probably soon he will pass away. I suffer more for Okigems, the young one, because he's like a father for him. I'm really sorry for the loss and I understand it 100%. You had a beautiful wonderful dog and you still do, deep in your heart.

It turns out that he died since he had tainted dog food. It wasn't on the original recall list but showed up later on. It's really hard for me to deal with death.

Yes, we are all sad, but my other dog Sugar is very sad since did not have a chance to say goodbye. She is very confused and tries to look for him in the backyard. They knew each other since they were pups.

It's so sad. She smells him, but cannot find him. King was the yin to Sugar's yang. We all miss you King, but you will be forever remembered. You were definitely full of personality, and never boring.

It's good, I think, for the surviving dog to see the body of his departed companion.

They seem to realize that they've passed over and it gives them some sort of closure.
