they r two different drummers i guess pj's music has changed since Vs so maybe now they r looking for a faster feel, i love matt's endurance around the kit he is a machine, on the flip side i still really liked the feel of dave, but yeh every muso has their slant, but i do think playing even flow and other stuff from ten and vs 30% fater than the recordings tafes away from the song, i dunno how eddie can sing and maybe they disagreed with matt
matt cameron is in another league, a higher league than Abruzzese, no discredit to him of course hes a very solid drummer, but matt is clearly in an elite category coming from soundgarden as well, just a very dynamic drummer
i liked matt in soundgarden . But i hate him in Pearl Jam. I think hes a good drummer. Personally his best work is on Jesus christ pose. great drums on that song.
i agree to a certain extent, but i think if the band thought it was too fast, theyd have told him to slow it down, so therefore, its not just matts fault that its faster
I agree with this, I wish they'd play it at the original tempo. But I guess they just wanted to freshen it up a bit after playing it for so many years
it does seem like they push tempos when they play with Cameron, but it's probably just to keep up the intensity, rather than due to any deficiencies Cameron has as a player.
he's basically a jazz drummer who plays in a rock band, so his dynamics are certainly there. also, some of Soundgarden's stuff was really S-L-O-W, so any sped-up numbers MUST be because Vedder gave the say-so.
listen to Joey Castillo. THAT guy speeds up songs wayyyy too fast when they're played live!!
I don´t understand such a praise of Abruzzese, as far a strong drummer as he is, Cameron is way too superior, because he has power as well as an amazin technique. He can develop and play at ease very intricate -and very creative- patters and still be direct and straingforward in its pulse whitout leting down the songs momentum. Drum legend Terry Bozzio praise him as one of today´s best drum artist and compare him to Tony Williams.

Wow, matt is such a bad drummer. Dave abbruzzese literally shits on him. All he is doin is doing simple triplets it sounds and adding cymbals every once in a while. Its not even talent.
Haha, obviously you don't understand the impact Cameron had on the rock drumming-scene in the 90's. Who of Dave and Matt has been remembered in the industry? Who adds odd-time signatures so fluent, that you don't even sense they're there in their playing of the two? Who is often referred to as "the Steve Gadd of rock drumming"... That's right, Matt Cameron! Listen to some Soundgarden - hopefully your puny mind can begin to grasp some of Matt's ideas!
