  • fantastic work Sir, simply fantastic. I started out with scale models and am about to do my mtb frame....problem is I have seen so many cool things in your vids I cant choose which to do, thinking a bevelled edge carbon tribal with a wet look twisted flame, hmmm blue/green or true fire...too much?? :)

  • @garykidson Sounds cool.

  • what are your tips if u wanna start doing this just as a hobby? what kind of airbrush i sould get and stuff like that?

  • @iritandding I buy every thing from coastairbrush(dot)com I like the Iwata HP-BCS air brush.

  • @edhubbs do they deliver out side of the VS? cause i'm from holland

  • @iritandding My videos? Yes

  • @iritandding er zit in almere een airbrush shop google daar maar eens op

  • @FragNet0 okey bedankt :)

  • what kind of material are you spraying through for the clouds in the backround? your work is inspiring.

    e

  • @informed Cotton.

  • my god you are amazing!

  • @KruegerBonnie Only with God's help.

  • Hi Ed, v. impressive! I've been asked to do the same theme on skiis and I was wondering if you always cut out youre own stencils by hand or do you sometimes use a computer and plotter which is what I usually do? Also do you ever use autoair from createx or prefer urethane paints?... again thanks for posting all these awsome vids... cheers!!!

  • @oOsebcreedOo If I want some thing like lettering to be perfect I use plotter.

    I use Wicked Colors also.

  • two thumbs up!!!

  • @Airbrusholic Thank you.

  • hey ed wat is tht knife deal called tht u use to cut out tht dolphin and do u have them at your web site????????????

  • @OklahomaMadness Xacto knife

You can buy it at coastairbrush(dot)com

  • Where can I find the paper that you used to stencil the dolphins and lighthouse etc.?

  • @nickjqz

coastairbrush(dot)com It is called transfer paper.

  • Very awesome want to see the whole Rail...

  • @pernoy

There are pictures on my web site fullblownkustoms(dot)com

  • All your videos help me a lot. I`m learning just watching. And i`m a good cartoonist.

    Greeting from Spain Ed

  • @davidbatista387

Thanks and greetings back to you in Spain.

  • Ed you are AWESOME. i either want to be an architect, a tattoo artist, or automotive paint artist. but im not sure which one yet...

  • Don't limit yourself,try them all.LOL

  • Hey, Master, i have a problem i know you can solve: when drawing very thin lines, i get them with like tiny, very very tiny rests of dried paint around the line. I've changed my airbrush (now its a Paasche). I use acrylic automotive paint, and I've thinned it well, checked air flow, everything and the problem persist, i've even filter the paint.

Hope you can help me, Thanks

  • Are you using a slow reducer?

  • @edhubbs slow reducer?

i use standard thiner, but i think i have an idea of the problem: im thinning the paint more than usual, and the problem disappears, but with that very-thinned paint im only capable of drawing very thin lines, it seems to be not good for other lines. I bet its all because of my very very cheap paint. Thanks anyway ;) Ed and thanks for having the time answer our rookie questions

  • No problem at all man.

  • ed how you doing can you hel me with these i have a friend, well more like a teacher and he saids tha useing stencel is not good tha a good airbrush artist doesn´t have to use them is this true onesly i don´t believe it thanks o and one last ? what{s the name of youre fav airbrush... thanks for the video helps a lot

  • I disagree with your teacher. A good air brush artist uses every thing avaliable to him or her to get the job done. Yes using a stencil and not shadowing it to not make it look like a stencil is not good.I do both free hand and stencil,But to say that a person is not a good artist because he uses a stencil, I don't agree.I use all Iwata air brushes.

  • man, your lighting is almost scientific, the way you capture the light refraction under water. that's awesome. always motivates me to practice when i watch your videos. i've already done some small stuff for friends based on stuff i learned from you. thanks and keep the videos coming!

  • I am glad that you like them.

  • hey ed,

nice work, it looks so real.

    but i have a question.

when i work with the masking tape, then i have a sharp edge. how can I avoid this?

    greetz from germany

  • Don't spray right up against the edge. Just fog it and then when you pull the tape off air brush the edges softly. Unless you are doing graphics then there is no way not to have a edge.

  • Cara, obrigado pelo comentario do meu video no Improriso, agora tenho outro legal, falo sobre a maconha e o alcool, qdo puder de uma olhada.... :) - < abraço.

  • very good vid thx for share it.would u soon share more vids?:D btw imba song

  • Thank you and yes we are getting ready to post another video very soon.

  • what airbrush's are they

  • Iwata

  • thanks

  • You are very welcome.

  • You..Tony D and Larry Alvarez have got to be the best air brushers I've ever seen.Larry is probably the best at free hand stuff..IE his batting helmets..You and Tony both have really cool attitudes and would make excellent teachers. I dunno how I missed this video..I just came across it today. this might be your best work ever. Your attention to detail.. especially on the lighthouse and the whales..is phenomenal. I love how you reapply the stencils to add depth. 5 stars again...

  • Thank you.If you get a chance check out my web site fullblownkustoms(dot)com

  • That´s simply stunning :S

    Very beautiful job Ed!

  • Thanks

  • who is this music by?

  • It is royality free music.

  • Ed, I only have thanks and praise for your tutorials. I have been airbrushing for only 3 months now, but thanks to you and your awesome vids, I am now making a (very) little cash out of it. I run a Hobby Shop in Sydney, Aus, and am doing custom work on RC bodies. Makes it a little difficult cause I have to work in reverse (poly carbonate car bodies).

    Only the one question.....

Any tips for "reverse" painting, eg. painting on glass/clear plastics. I currently use Fascolor and an Iwata CR (.5 tip)

  • Tony D on airbrushtricks(dot)com has a pretty good tutorial on RC car bodies. Check him out.

  • Thanks Ed, have done. No offence to Tony D, I just prefer your style of tutorial (personality). Again, thanks for all your valuable info and the fact you care enough to make it personal through replying to the comments. Cheers mate.

  • No problem Just thought that I would put it out there.

  • I have four daughters and I love every one of them. All of them are so much different than each other.

    Thank you for your blessing.

I can not answer for Tony from airbrushtricks so I don't know why he does not answer.

The BR is the finer of the two air brushes.

  • and one last question lol..is the master series airbrushes good?i mean,.their overall work like paint flow/atomization and reliability and durability?do they resist the years well like the iwata and paasche?i generally use the 2k and enamel paints.

  • No they do not last at all. I am having my name removed from them. Buy a IWATA and you will never have to buy another air brush.

  • LOL.u r funny but thats a real good tips to prevent others from losing their money.WOW You are really rapid at replying, and a nice person.May god protect you and your children.(your little daughter is a real carbon copy of my daughter i mean it.saw her in z vid of insane custom)there`s another guy i just checked at airbrushtricks vids and i has nt seen a single reply from him.

and wat do you think to be best at precision,.the iwata CR or the iwata BR?(i know im annoying)lol

  • hi ed im from seychelles island.its my first time in youtube and ur the first i`m commenting!!really nice work...u beat everyone in my country and if i follow ur techniques i think i`ll beat them too...keep it up brother, sorry if my english is not that good

  • idk about those old vette rims on the nova but idk how i even noticed them with that beautiful eye grabbing paint

  • Between the Master 'Performance' Airbrush Model G233-SET and the PAASCHE TALON Double Action Gravity Feed Airbrush..which one is best for auto art??...i can`t afford the iwata though i know its the best...

  • there is iwata revolution CR with 0.5 nozzle or BR with 0.3 nozzle at only 73 $

  • The Paasche.

  • thanks brother,.adi2200us mentioned the iwata Iwata Revolution CR,its at $72 and its reasonable..but will theiwata give the same detail works as you are doing in the above video????

Sorry for harassing you with questions.

  • No reason to be sorry. It is no problem. Yes the Iwata would work great for you.

  • ed i just checked your recommended products,i saw the master series, the iwata and devilbliss too.I saw the 2iwataS revolution CR&BR that shya8al is saying.Since you use the iwatas, dont you think the 0.5mm of the CR is way too big for fine hair line n precise detail works?Btw,the paasche talon looks great too,but as a professional, which among them do you advise?the CR,BR or paasche?

Me too i cant afford the great iwatas but for $73 its ok.lol

  • The Iwata BR

  • thanks for your valuable tips bro,i`m buying the iwata br right away then

  • that was just beutifull :)

  • Thank you.

  • I will need to strip off the paint on my car. Do you have any suggestion that can help? What size of sand paper do i need? What tool? Does custom shop have them?

  • There are several ways to strip a car. Paint Stripper, sand blast, walnut blast, soda blast, and hand strip it with a orbital sander and 36 grit or even 80 grit on a 8 inch sander.

  • thanks a lot. you're a really great help

  • Do you need special kind of paint to airbrush on a car??:S

  • Nope any air brush will work.

  • sick sick SICK!!

  • Thanks

  • I'm gonna repaint my car, and then airbrush it. What should i do?

    1. Paint it, airbrush, then clear or

    2. Paint, clear, sand, airbrush, clear, or

    3. Other.

I wont be needing the answer now because i'm still on the first step; Watching your Bare Metal To Clear Coat DVD, but i would like to know ahead of time.

  • Either way works fine. On a show car I like to paint it and clear it. then sand and air brush it. Then clear it again. But painting it and air brushing it works fine also.

  • thanks.

  • or the world would be able to see Ed LOL

  • ????????????????????????

  • ya know to see you in person

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH

  • aww sick work man...i love it :P

  • Thanks man.

  • so im dont late,im also started at my 16

  • this is amazing talent u have there Ed...

i just finised a course with steve vandemon and craig frazer in iceland.. i got my self as iwata jet power pro compressor an HP-CS

  • House of Kolor must send Craig and Steve around the world teaching classes. I took one from Craig years ago and found it very informative. I like Craig's way of teaching.

So what did Craig think of my video's?

    Just kidding.

  • Well then,Kustom shop should send you around the world.....just an idea................

  • Maybe every one should start requesting Kustom Shop to have Ed Hubbs start teaching classes. And fly him around to teach a group of students at a time.LOL

  • yea,that's the idea,and once a year to send him on vacation too,why not?after a year of teaching,he deserves a brake,rightLOL

  • Now we are talking.

  • lol only one:P after every class in that country a week break...so ed wuld be able to see whole world:P

  • ed you are my heroe, man you are the da vincy of the Air paint, thanks for your tutorials are the best.

  • Why thank you.

  • when u are started,i mean when u picked first time airbrush?

  • Age 16

  • wow i watch all your videos i am only 13 and i am inspired to start airbrushing what sort of brush do you reccommend i use going up to a limit of $75

  • if you go like a little higher you could get some realy legit airbrushes from iwatta and if you take care of them they will last i use the iwata revolution cr it was like 90 bucks but its held pretty good and the parts are pretty easy to replace. sometimes i dont get the line qualitie i want but that can be a paint problem. its a great dual action brush. good for begginers on up. thats just me. get some other oppions. but i would strongly advise you not to a a single action airbrush.

  • deffinately wait till what ed tells you cause hes a realy sick airbrusher i mean look at his automotive work. but you can also look at airbrushtricks channel he tells you about a airbrush that he got in the 40 dollar ranged i think. but i heard the one airbrushtricksrecommended breaks easy not tottaly sure though. hope i could be a help because when i started i needed a lot of guidence before i bought every thing also look on airbrush forums and see what others have to say about the brushes.

  • Save another $50.00 and buy a Iwata HP-CS and that will pay for the shipping also form Kustom Shop.

  • Hey Ed, I got 2 questions. 1) When you airbrush, do you spray it on the basecoat or dp you spray it on the clear? 2) I f i want to airbrush my car, can I sand my clear with a 600 and spray it on or do i have to take down to my basecoat? Thanks in advance.

  • On the base coat. Or sand the clear coat and air brush on it.Just sand the clear coat and start air brushing.

  • I'm using ppg basecoats, I will however go to Kustomshops website and buy the good stuff, one of my fellow airbrush friends said your products are working great for him and he highly recomends them...thanks

  • There are a lot of good brands of paint out there. I really like the Kustom Shop paints.

  • Killer work as usual Ed, thanks again, I'm having a problem with my masking paper sticking to my basecoats when I backmask Like you were doin on the light house , even after tackrag, any thoughts? Thanks

  • Buy Kustom Shops Transfer paper and you won't have that problem. What paint are you using?

  • Wow, I thought your work was excellent from your tutorial videos. But this is just the best work I've ever seen done with an airbrush.

  • Thanks.

  • your work is totally awesome, seen all your videos like 100 times each :).nice taste for music too.greetings from spain, will be waiting for more:))

  • Thank you.

    More coming soon.

  • i likeeeeeeeeeeee this, aaaaaaaa gimme more videos xD goddamit i like this job so much t yed for sharing this videos

  • Thanks

  • I have a question though! , when I airbrush the hose pops out of the compressor ?! :S

what happens? is it a bad hose ?

  • Yes it is.

  • thanks! :D

it would be fun If you made a video about mistakes you can do when your new and how to fix them ! :D

  • I don't make mistakes.........YA RIGHT.LOL

We do try to add those kind of mistakes to a video, but ya I hear what your saying.

  • I love your work !

and it has inspired me to start airbrushing myself , have bought airbrush and tools , and I'm now airbrushing my wall.

    I'm only 16 years but so what , ^^.

Ive done art for a long time , but never found my "thing" but I think I found it now , another thing that is great , is that almost nobody here does it!

I will order stencil and such from your shop soon!

  • I started when i was sixteen so get after it. LOL

    Good Luck!

  • WoWOWoW Great Work

  • Thank you.

  • thats some nice work. when your doing those really fine lines do you over reduce the paint? or are you using an airbrush with a smaller needle

  • Both

  • They are waiting for you.LOL

  • Wow --things have Really changed since I used to do custom painting 35 yrs ago --It would have been great

to be able to buy ready made stencles --

I used to have cut my own --OucH--- Nice work -

  • All of the stencils that I used in this video are hand cut by me. I used mylar and a stencil burner.

  • Ed... this is my favourite video from you, absolutely amazing. Thank you so much for your tutorial video's, its realy helping a lot of people worldwide, greets from the Netherlands

  • Thanks for watching in the Netherlands.

  • Thank you for the help.

  • You are welcome.

  • Awesome work as usual Ed! Probably one of my favorite pieces by you.

  • Thank you.

  • Ed. I just bought a used truck in great condition from a used car dealer. Paid cash cuz everything looked and worked GREAT. BUTTTTTT.... After 2 weeks i noticed it had a super cheap paint job cuz when any lil rock hits it, it makes a little chip in the paint all the way to the primer. I noticed it when little light grey dots started showing up. I'm so pissed. Is there a quick fix for this or will I have to shell out the money for a top notch paint overhaul? Thanx in ADVANCE.

  • A cheap way out is to flame the front end. Sand out the chips and lay a set of flames to cover all of the chips and then you not only fixed the problem, you have a cool looking car.

  • Preping the clear. Do I just need to scuff it or take it down to the paint?

  • Sand it with 600 grit and scuff the edges with grey scotch brite.

  • amazing

  • Thank you.

  • Also would like to say you do awesome work.

  • Thanks

  • Ed, question for you. I was thinking about trying airbrushing and was wondering what steps do I take to prep a finished paint with clear?

  • Are you talking about preping the clear coat to air brush on or how to clear coat the finished art work?

  • Hi Ed I have a question to one of your projects.

On your page you have an Hayabusa with purple and blue Tribals (Motorcycles Page 4).

    1) Is the color of the tribals a cameleon paint or just 2 colors mixed?

    2) With what kind of gun have you brushed it? (Nozzle)

  • It is Kamelon base coat.

    I used a Iwata HP-C

  • Ed you are awesome!

  • Thanks man.

  • Ed you got magic in your fingers man! You are the master of the airbrush..Btw ed what airbrush do you advise,in terms of durability and good quality??

  • When you but one please go through the Kustom Shop banner at the top of our youtube page.

I would buy a Iwata HP-CS or any of the Iwata air brushes, because they are all quality made.

  • Man you inspire me, so glad to be a part of your community, thanx for sharing with us all.

  • No Problem.Thanks for watching.

  • super, good job man :).

  • Thank you.

that was a great job, thanks for sharing

    Best Regards from Guadalajara, Mexico

  • You are very welcome.

  • Wow you have done it again Ed!! You make it look so easy... Thank you for making your videos, they are a huge help in my airbrushing. I think there were about 10 different "lessons" in this one video!!

  • Sorry that it wasn't really a instructional video, but more for entertainment. Some of these video's are over 6 to 10 years old.I just happen to video some of them when I think that they are interesting. And some of them I video for my daughters to have and watch when there "ol" man is gone.

  • Lol I hear ya... Well even if it wasn't a instructional video I still took a lot of pointers from it. You made the water caustics on the whales look much easier than I would have expected. Thanks, look forward to seeing more in the future.

  • OH YA there will be a lot more.

  • i got a new idol :)

  • I guess you could call me the American Idol.LOL

Just kidding,I know I am weird. That's what my daughters tell me any ways.LOL

  • Why do you say you are weird?I think you're pretty normal. Are you?LOL

  • wow!!!!!! you are truly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you.

  • Hahahaha the pilow stuff !

    It works great !

  • Sleep tight.LOL
