Oh and go Uehara as well!!!

  • @The11IsaN not official until he signs on the dotted line. it would be interesting to see how he fares in major league baseball since the performance of japanese pitchers has been a mix of good and bad...

  • @The11IsaN Koji sucks :\

  • i hope he comes to the jays

  • I don't think that was a normal forkball. It's more like SFF or a two-seamer. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not a pitching expert

  • That was a Forkball?? That looked more like a really nasty sinker. Whats the difference anyways?

  • @semperfoo24 your probably right it looks like a sinker . the difference is that a sinker is a fastball with downward motion and a forkball is a changeup that moves slightly down and left for a right handed pitcher (almost the opposite of a circle change, it also looks like a slow cutter) and he's not going off tim he's just confused by a misleading video...at least we didn't get rick roll'd lol

  • この年よくこのボール投げてたな

  • This kid is the best I've ever seen.

  • the comentator said

"if your opponent is darvish u better give up " LOL wtf !

  • Nasty pitch. If the ball has a backspin, it is a splitter. If it has a top spin it is a forkball.

At around 50 seconds you get a really good close up that shows it is NOT a forkball and is indeed a splitter.

At 2:14, if that was a splitter it did not break like he wanted, probably a two seam with not too much movement.

In the end, that is a nasty offspeed.

  • meh.he's pitching to AAA players.

  • Lil Wayne? Smh Japan

  • woah i never knew such a ball exist

  • @nijnek1

    思いっきり握っていた球をそのままストレートと同じ握りで投げると握力の影響で勝手にリリースポイントが速くなり、その結果全く回転が無いボールが高速ですっぽ抜けていく。

  • What makes the forkball or splitter effective is if you have a real good fastball or slider that the hitter is trying to time. Pitching is about destroying the hitters timing. When I was still scouting, I was looking for pitchers that could throw srikes AND change speeds. You don't even need good location if your ball has enough movement and you can change speeds off of the heater.

  • スプリットだろ

  • If it's not a forkball, it is a pronated splitter. At release point, the middle finger is at about 11 o'clock and the thumb at 5 o'clock. This cause the ball to dive down and in to right handers. Bob Welch and Dave Stewardt each threw TWO different types of forkballs, one for lefties and one for righties. You can throw the forkball or splitter as hard as you want as long as you can pronate and snap the wrist like a bull whip. A good splitter will "hop" before it drops.

  • @oldsidearmer but im a lefty.... but my dominant hand is right but when is started playing baseball i used my left cos i only had a lefty glove ( a glove that you put in your right hand ) it was my friend.... then i started pitching with my left.... but i tried the opposite way by pointing my middle finger at 1 o'clock and my thumb at 7 o'clock... i'm still trying it cos i just tried it but i can't seem to get my wrist to snap like a bull whip.. i need squeeze more.

  • @spritedblue Try snapping the wrist as soon as the arm comes forward, That way you can improve arm speed while getting enough active spin(rotation) on the ball. Try this also, preturn the thumb down to at least 6 o'clock before going into your windup. Slow down your mechanics and throw slow at first. You can try this with a two seam fastball also. This will make the ball hop then sink. I preturn my thumb down on every fastball I throw and even a slow fastball will be hard to hit.

  • @oldsidearmer i need to squeeze more.

  • @oldsidearmer I blow up the film and it is indeed a pronated splitter. His fingers just aren't spread enough for a forkball.

  • @norkaalum but it was a splitter that moved as much as a forkball, and that's still pretty impressive,

  • hahaha a milli in the backround weezy is worldwide

  • 140キロフォークとかあだち充の世界だ

  • 最後カメラ意識したのかな

  • SFFじゃね?

  • How many people wanna bet? That when he goes to MLB. He'll be wearing Pinstripes.

  • Christ hes fast.

  • @giants3jansher

    研究されまくってるから有る程度仕方ないのでは?

    それでも防御率はかなり良いですよ。タイトル獲れるでしょう!

  • Clemens threw his forkball in the low 90's when his fastball was in the high 90's, not un-common to see a 5-7 mph difference in a fastball to a fork/split. I throw what's called a seamed splitter and have a 8 mph difference(82-74). My forkball is about 10-12 mph slower.

  • @dheeren62 so you throw forkballs too?? i've wanted to learn forkballs but im still 15. is it safe to learn such a ball? if not is there any suggestion of any breaking ball i should learn?

  • @spritedblue Try splitting your fingers with a baseball and advance to a softball. One tip, do not try to accellerate the ball or arm until the hand is ready to come forward. You may need to slow down your mechanics some. A book you should get is The Art of Pitching by Tom Seaver. You can get it at Half.com for a couple of bucks or The Act Of Pitching by John Bagonzi also at Half.com for a couple of bucks. Go right to the source for info, don't listen to the idiots on the internet.

  • Prove it asshole. I know Clemens personnally. Met him several times. We discussed pitch grips, finger pressure, driving through the release point, how to "hook" a seam to take mph off of a pitch. If you know so damn much, find some pictures of Sutter and Clemens grips for their pitches. You will see that Sutter has the fingers up on top of the ball, not jammed down in the ball like Clemens. You have no idea what you are talking about. Put a gun in your mouth moron.

  • @dheeren62 dude your trying to tell me he throw his pitch 96? thats such a joke bro.

  • There is a difference between forks and splitters. It's in the wrist mechanics. Forks tumble and break more. (kinda like a knuckler) Splitters sink. Also it's not necessary to throw a fork hard as it's the movement that gets you. Splitter, if not thrown "harder" will 1) lack movement and 2) Will be easier for a hitter to detect and lay off. Neither are "strike" pitches. You want them to swing at a ball in the dirt.

  • @sansoosavage It is possible to make a forkball rotate forward by placing the thumb and ring finger on the sides of the ball and applying more pressure on them than the index and middle fingers. THEN, you can throw the forkball as hard as a fastball and get it to drop. Find some pictures of Elroy Face on Google images for the grip. Face's forkball was close to 80mph when his best fastball was only 83-85.

  • That's pretty funny, the last time I talked to Clemens, a couple of years ago, he told me that his index and middle fingers were so far down in the ball that what he was throwing was actually a real hard forkball. So unless you have actually talked to Roger, screwed off and go kill yourself. Better yet, tell me where you live and I will discuss this in person with you. I mean it. Wuss.

  • It's definetely a forkball, a splitter wouldn't break that much. Clemons was throwing his forkball in the 155km/h(95-96mph) in his prime.

  • @dheeren62 You are obviously retarded.

First off, you spelled Roger Clemens' name wrong.

Second, he threw a splitter. He stated multiple times that he threw a splitter.

  • @paulisapler Clemens never threw the splitter until 1997, his first year in Toronto. Until then he threw the forkball as a change-up to his four seamer and he threw a nickel curve(slider). In 1997 he began throwing the splitter as his change off of his fastball as well as a real tight Steve Carlton type slider, the type where you pre-turn the wrist in so the hook is already on the ball before release. Old Sporting News Guides list him as throwing a forkball until 1997. You know little.

  • @dheeren62 absolutely false statement. go fuck yourself

  • @tim191219 Clemens is listed as throwing a forkball as early as 1985 and in all the Sporting News Scouting Report Guides until at least 1996. He began throwing a splitter as well as a different type of slider in 1997, his first year with the Blue Jays. You are just another internet moron that really knows nothing. Get a damn life fool and stop all your stupid ways. Only the strong and informed survive, not little boys hiding behind computers trying to be important.

  • @oldsidearmer I can guarantee you that he never threw both a splitter and a forkball considering they are essentially the same pitch. I can guarantee you that asshole. So why don't you go read the condescending jargon you wrote at teh end of your post and go fuck yousel

  • @tim191219 The splitter and the forkball are indeed different pitches. The forkball is actually between the fingers while the spliiter is wedged back in the hand while the fingers are split wide on top of the ball. I scouted Clemens as an advanced scout in the 80's and 90's and can tell you that he did indeed switch from a hard forkball to a spliiter when he joined the Blue Jays staff in 1997.You just proved again that you are an idiot. I am glad I don't have to live your life of ignorance.

  • @oldsidearmer actually, jackass I said he never threw both a spliter and a fork. you said it yourself that he switched from one to the other. Im glad I dont have to life your life of ignorance. douchebag

  • @tim191219 Look at what you write moron. You said the forkball and splitter "are essentially the same pitch", which they are not. Your problem is that you don't play the game, probably never did play the game, but still think you know something. And yes, he did switch from one to the other. At the time the reason around baseball was the splitter had more rotation and velocity, thus was harder to pick up. Jack McDowell throw both at the same time as well as a two and four seam fastballs

  • @oldsidearmer This is very funny. All the time I see stat geeks and others that never even played the game trying to make comments about things that can't possibly know a thing about Just for informations sake, the spliiter is best if thrown from a 3/4 arm angle with some pronation to get the downward"bite" in front of the plate. The true forkball is best if thrown nearly straight over the top to get downward type rotation on it.

  • @norkaalum Also, if you throw a four seamer for a swing and miss, the forkball is a good follow pitch since it is alot slower and drops. The reason the splitter is so good is that many pitchers don't have a good fastball so the splitter is just a little slower and the movement induces groundballs. You can actually overthrow a splitter, you can't overthrow a forkball.

  • @tim191219 If you can guarantee that, prove it. All the Scouting Reports before 1997 list him as throwing a forkball. I scouted him in spring training in 1997 and he told the reporter from Baseball America that he had scraped the forkball and switched to the splitter. Your problem is that you don't know your head from a bucket of dung. Admit it, YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT AND YOU CAN NOT PROVE IT. If you were a pitcher you would know they are different pitches. You are gay.

  • @tim191219 The splitter and forkball are not essentially the same pitch. Few if any major league pitchers today throw a true Elroy Face type forkball. The splitter is/was a quick learn pitch that many picked up as an effective change-up. Today, the spilter has been replaced by the circle change as the off speed pitch of choice even though Roy Halladay started throwing a spiltter this year along with a circle change and a sort of palm ball type pitch he used a couple times a game.

  • @tim191219 No, they are not even close to being "essentially" the same pitch. Many years ago I palyed some low minor league ball and the spring training instructer was Roger Craig and showed us both pitches and they were not the same thing. That's like saying a 2-seam fastball and a sinker are the same thing. Or a cutter and a slider are the same thing. If you aren't sure what's what, ask. Don't go off just because you don't know.

  • 超強

  • This is kick a<3 !!!!!

    Intense..... :]

  • fuck. if you can throw forkball in that kind of speed. it's enough said lol.

  • 146キロの変化球とか打てるわけがない。仮にあたってもゴロにしかならん。これを打てと言う方が無理。

  • seems more like a split fingered fastball... forkball/splitters are held much deeper in between the index and middle fingers...

  • Looking at the rotation, yes it is a forkball.

  • ダルなら何をやってもおかしくないw

  • hge should be careful forkball/splitter is how i totally ruined my arm

  • You're human, Yu Darvish is not...

  • Then you were throwing it wrong or had horrible mechanics... a splitter/forkball has the arm and wrist action of a fastball... thats why it can be so effective, it has the look of a fastball out of the pitchers hand but is slightly slower and breaks straight down...

  • The Dv Abel Next Year Varsity Red Heads but with a twist. How does the power duo of Greineke & Darvish sound to you in the Royals' powder blue.

  • Next year . . . MLB

  • Not yet. Darvish had back and shoulder troubles last year, and he also fractured his pitching hand. He also has yet to prove himself in outdoor stadiums (Pacific League stadiums are mostly domes).

  • @varsityredheads Next year... YANKEES

  • look at the slow motion at 0:21

he splits his finger on the ball for sure.

well, the Rocket can also throw splitters with low 90's.

  • yep thats a fork look at 1:42 to 1:46

  • A forkball is basically a pitch when the ball drops really quickly. Thus, hitting the dirt at times.

  • a Milli by lil wayne

  • yea I now a milli but it sounded like the obama version

  • The fork is a variation of the split, but the speed is a lot different. I'm no expert on this stuff, but looking at the movement and speed of the pitches I think pitches 3,5&6 (94-95 mph) are most likely fastballs. 1,2&4 could be splitters, forks, or sliders. They are all w/n 3 mph of each other (88-90). The grip, arm slot, and wrist rotation can change the speed and movement. And no, I don't have a life.

  • this is two seam fastball with long break

  • Looks more like a hard splitter to me.

  • A forkball is actually just a variation on the splitter.

  • Are you guys sure that is his forkball? That could be his 2 seam? Or his fastball with a lot of motion.

  • wait?! 92mile fork ball?! FORK BALL?!

  • japan ham?

  • means japanese(people)

  • damn, thats nasty in any league.

  • free agent 2014...long time from now

  • He said "Im not interested in MLB. Only NPB, Japanese baseball league"

But I want to see him on MLB, too.

  • ya i think he also said he wanted to win 250 games in japan...but i think he will join mlb...one day :)

  • That is so unfair. Most pitchers doesn't have a 91 mph fastball let alone a 91 mph forkball. Reminds me of Smoltz's slider which he throws with the same velocity as most pitchers' fastball.

Filthy stuff. No wonder people were talking about him during the WBC.

  • what is the speed for MPH for 148km?? can anyone do the math to convert it? lol...

  • 148 kilometers = 91.9629365 miles

  • around 92-93

  • he's the real deal!!gosh, this boy is awesome to watch!GRANDISSIMO...

  • You wanna talk about a kid who is totally in control of his emotions on top of all the pitching talent he clearly has. When Korea jumped on him a bit in one of the WBC games that Team Japan eventually lost, Darvish never lost his composure. His teammates killed him with some costly errors, but he battled through that first inning and eventually settled down and ended up having a pretty dominant outing.

  • That pitch is just stupid...you cant even tip that if you commit...unreal...YU is my hero

  • I watched him pitch in the WBC and he is a lot of fun to watch. I would like to see him pitch in the MLB. Preferably for the Braves with Kenshin Kawakami.

  • Too bad he doesn't want to play MLB ball.

  • @TommyDComedy Japanese players MUST play at least 8 years on national teams before go international as MLB.

  • 元・横浜の佐々木の全盛期が9イニング続くと思えば一番分かりやすい(笑)

  • wow. he's got it.
