  • I like the idea as well but you could always cover the styrofoam ball with plastic wrap? This way non of the fruit will touch the foam at all!!

  • This is a great tutorial, but there are some valid concerns with using Styrofoam and I think a good substitute would be a rice krispie ball- like what they use in cake making. It's hard to find a video on making rice krispie balls, but if you follow a recipe for rice krispie squares it will work. Instead of packing the rice krispies into a dish just let them cool a bit and form them into a ball by hand. If you are worried about it drying out you can put a layer of fondant on it.

  • @NauticalAcronym I agree I don't like the styrofoam touching the food, but we do use Styrofoam cups. I would like to know if this is the same product.

  • Vous avez un talent rare.Vous avez une imagination ingénieuse.Bravo Monsieur!

  • I was thinking I could run to the 'Dollar Store' here in Cedar Rapids,Iowa to hunt down a ceramic vase and a softball sized Styrofoam ball. My new friend 'Kelly Fuller' likes Dark Chocolate so I think doing it with 'Dark Chocolaty' would be really fun~

  • Dark Chocolate with the fruit would be really fun~

  • I could not finish watching this because of the ridiculously loud and cheesy music. Ugh!

  • AS A MOM AND ARTIST I CONSIDER THIS VIDEO HELPFUL, AS A FOOD SERVICE I HAVE A SMALL CONCERN WICH CAN BE EASY ADRESSED, I SUGGEST TO COVER THE STYROFOAM WITH A THIN LAYER OF ICING &/OR FONDANT SO THEREFORE ANY FRUIT WOULDN/T TOUCH ANY "NON FOOD APPROVED SURFACE". ANYWAYS IN THE "MAKING OF" ANY CERTERPIECE LIKE THIS TO STAY IN THE SAFE/DELIVERY ZONE, SOMETIMES WE "INCLUDING" MYSELF USE SOME OF THIS TRICK LIKE GLUE GUNS, BCZ LIKE SOME1 SUGGESTED (SUGAR) RELAYS IN WEATHER CONDITIONS.

  • I think with all those dry fruits it might be all right to tooth pick them onto the styrofoam ball, not with fresh fruit though. If you remove the rind off a melon or honeydew you can skewer that into flower foam thats inside your ceramic base. The fruit won't touch the foam directly and then you can skewer or toothpick your other fruits.

  • This video made me fully informed that Don't eat edible food even if I am offered $100 for intake. No way whatsoever.

  • Nice, Thank you.

  • awesome thank you

  • BOOOoooring

  • i don't understand why he uses gloves in hadling the base, styro and the glue gun. then remove the gloves when hndling the food, are you trying to contaminate the food you are making? and those glue gun and styro balls are not sanitary to be used around food..

  • @finchiestiffler79

I guess he might want to protect his fingertips from glue chemical (for his own protection, not for the anticipated eaters of the edible. So in this sense (if I am right), potential chemical intoxication could be possible.

  • Who uses a hot glue gun on a styrophome ball?? As someone who wants to send an arrangement knows that hot glue is bad, use wet sugar as a base dude. Especially if you are sending food not flowers!

Did you hear the styrophome melting? Children don;t know what is fun, we incorporate fun as parents, we show them what is fun.

You are a law suit waiting to happen!!

Amy He wants money from you.

  • Love it !!!!

  • This is a beautiful piece and a great explanation. However, I don't think food is supposed to have direct contact with that styrofoam.

  • WOW!!

it looked almost imposible but you showed me how easy it can be!!

    thak you sooo very much!!
