  • its amazing how the tail didnt strike the ground except for the pad, unlike the A-380

  • Video Calibration

  • now that's draggin your ass!

  • video calibration

  • Airbus aint got shit on that wheelie! America, fuck yea!

  • If they had called me I would have sold them a block of Persimmon. It's a gazillion times more wear-resistant than oak.

  • Whoa! A 777 drag racer!

  • I had a block of wood like that on the back of my skate board when i was a kid in the 70s . smelled great when it burned .

  • What's with the sad music :P

  • this test fails hard really, look how long it takes to actually lift off and eventually it does BUT feet by feet. Boeing always had this clumsy wing design, at the benefit for better manual flight control as the pilots control inputs are directly controlled via actuators. I'd rather have better wings that can lift the largest passenger jet ever at low VMU's of 126knots and a computer between me and the actuators that can correct my inputs 10000 times a second in order to fly it more efficient.

  • Lol the A380 did better on the VMU test. Clumsy boeing lift component.

  • @sonicfan7 lol the shitty a380 failed the flutter test. then they had to ground them because they were about to blow up in flight. pretty pathetic but that's scarebus for you.

  • @AdverbAdjective it did pass it eventually and the air pressure cone area itself was never dmdged. Your fail boeing 737 claimed so many lifes due to design faults. Those engineers at boeing fail, the A340 has 0 fatalities so did the A330, until the pilots screwed up and stalled the same way that birginair 757 did.

  • @OriMedian actually it failed sorry. they rushed to put some shotty reinforcements to help it to barely get by eventually. it's funny because per plane sold, boeing has far less crashes. thankfully those passengers didn't blow up in those shitty a380s before they had to ground them all.

  • @AdverbAdjective Haha in reality Boeing has way more crashes. Did you know that two B737´s crashed in 90´s because of Boeing design fault, and killed lots of people?

  • @Pvjinflight hahaha in reality, that is statistically Boeing is safer. plane for plane. but you wouldn't know anything about numbers and statistics would you

  • @AdverbAdjective No I know them very well so I know that statistically theres no big difference beetween Airbus and Boeing, and that in pretty much every last year more people have died in Boeing crashes.

  • @AdverbAdjective And also I know that your comment is pure bullshit like almost always when some american is trying to defend Boeing with lack of real arguments.

  • @Pvjinflight is that why qantas grounded all of their shitty a380s? LOL

  • @AdverbAdjective They grounded them because of engine design error, and engines are not made by Airbus but Rolls Royce, and surprisingly Rolls Royce engines are used also on Boeing planes, one B777 crashed because of design error in fuel system btw.

And that problem is fixed now anyway.

Did you know that after Boeing finally found rudder design error when over 150 people had already died they had to ground all 737´s for replacement parts?

  • @Pvjinflight did you know plane per plane Boeing is more reliable? yeah sucks to face facts doesn't it

  • @AdverbAdjective No I did not know as that is bullshit and you cant give me any reliable source to that information.

  • doggy butt surfin.

  • One oak tree was hurt during the making of this video.

  • It says in the description that this video is 10 years old. Dude, even the Titanic movie is 14 years old! How come they never miscaliber?

  • @SVAFnemesis It said it's over 10 years old (more like 15). Its also because the tape is in bad shape after heavy use.

  • looks too fat to fly

  • Well When will they put something like a ball on the tail so tail strikes wouldn't happen anymore ! Lol

  • @TheWellMindedMe Now THAT would be fun! One at the tail, one at the front. :-D

  • That airplane was saying, " DAMN, YA MIGHT AS WELL RUBBED SOME 100 GRIT SANDPAPER ACROSS MY ASS, NEED SOME LANICANE, SHIT !!!!"

  • 21 decemder is my birthday and i am 10 years old

  • Well if they had this technology back then it could have saved the Worlds Bigggest Aviation disaster with the two 747s...

  • @h5network What? That's ridiculous. This has nothing to do with what happened with the two 747s. VMU tests were conducted "back then".

  • @Tigerwarhawk true...

  • That shit sound like a old freddy crougar movie ;^D

  • Lol video calibration.

  • So finally what is the speed recorded at which the gear lifts off the tarmac?

  • I suppose they loaded the place properly (simulating weight of passengers and fuel) before conducting those tests.

  • @reav3rtm Of course. They would've loaded it at max takeoff weight, max fuel weight max pax weight, etc. :D

  • "captain!" "yes"

"i have a job for you today. You're going to fly the the new 777!" "whoohoo!"

"but you have to do a tailstrike."

  • you know that with this kind of video quality, we could think the 777 was made in the mid 80's lol

  • the video was scraping more than the tail!!

  • @shababsta

    lol true

  • @shababsta lol funny

  • They need these kind of tests because I'll be out there on the runway riding my motorcross bike around naked wild and free

  • thats what it'd look like if it was a tail dragger!!! :p

  • @12bolson12 it is a taildragger!!! it drags its tail as you see in this video

  • The 777 looks mean!

  • I'm proud living on the DVD era .

  • Old VHS LOL!!!!

  • thats wad i call a booty-strike

  • LOOK OUT ALF!!!! I'M CUMMIN 4YA!!!!!!

  • how do they protact the road?

  • test

  • according to the flight manual for continental the 777-200 is supposed to have 37 inches of clearance between the surface and the skid if done correctly on rotation

  • @crapper1: Yer full of crap..BADOOSH, TISH. That's funny gawdamit. Look at me, I'm a rubber d!ck women use 2pleasure themselves w/. It's a hard life, butt sumbudy has 2do it. I'm not hard by the way, I'm actually quite flexibull

  • KRANK N BANK!! PULL BACK ON DUH STICK!!

  • pERFORMANCE TAKE OFF!!! GRAAAUUUGH!!

  • all Boeing 767/777s have a plate to gaurd tailstrikes. Not only for this test.

  • @iloveSPIDERZ: Yer a freak pal. Spiderz R the creepiest bugs..no, the creepiest critter EVER, on planet earth. They have 8 eys wich R just tiny pitch black domes that dont blink or move, they consist of nothing but 8 thin long sectioned legs w/ a hidyus locomotion conected 2a freaky abdomen and a butt that produces silk 2make thur home and insnare thur prey wich they inject thur venom w/ fangs 2liqwuhfy thur insides n drink them thru those same fangs. Hollywood kudnt cum up w/ a naztiermonster

  • As far asI know Turantulas cant support themselves w/ thur silk but all spiders produce silk 2make thur homes, aid in hunting or wateva. What they lack in bunji mobilaty(fortunatly) they make up 4 in size, and when a spider is that big they eat small birds, mammals and reptiles, suck'n thur liqiufied guts ount thru thur fangs

  • generally speak'n all spiders big n small move slow even when in a hurry but some do haul a##,some even jump. the jump'n's spider's main form of locomotion is jump'n.take a few steps jump repeat, kinda cute really. Im least afriad of jump'n spiders. But,one time one was crawl'n across the dash of my car n the lil f#$##r turn'd 2me n flared up 4 know apparent reason.I squashed it then apolagized 2it 4 squash'n it.I spoze I shud've apologized 2it B4 it squashed it 4 what i was about 2do but I didnt

  • As cute as jump'n psiders R i cant have them ride'n in the car w/ me.Most spiders can climb walls w/ tiny hooks on thur"feet".I dont think turantulas can but maybe sum can.Lots of critterz can climb walls but spiders R teh complete package. They can EVEN FLY DAWGWAMIT!!They let out a strand of silk and catch a ride in the wind.I was in Mozuury once sitt'n on the porch and one of these pararachnids was gently decending upon me in its classic open spread leg aproach.I H8 spiderz n I think they H8me

  • Yer problee wunder'n why I know so much about spiderz..well..the truth is im 1 of the smartest peeple on the planet and I know not much about a little but a little about much

  • Oh I almost 4got,thurs 1 spider that hangs down on a strand of silk, then lets out a little more silk and uses it as a laso like a cowboy 2catch fly'n insects.Dawgwamit im tell'n yaz spiders R the complete package of fear and terror.I also heard that the daddy long leg spider is the most venomus but it fangs R 2 small 2 "bite" humins,I dont know if this is true.spiders w/ looong thin legs R called violen spiders by duh way........................spiderz......SUK

  • haha Holy Shit dude! Have any more stories you would like to share with us? lmao

  • Testn testn

  • OK, I read "wood visit me daily" then I got bored and didn't bother reading the rest of the comment.

  • U mean U dont want 2 read my amazing atributts.Thur all tru U know. U dont want 2 hear the story of me delivering phone books, the girl in the bikini, and the crazy iguana?

  • Yeah, Pretty much! Try writing a book, and then find out how unsuccessful you really are.

  • Ouch. Yer not serious are you? Shame on you, I had high hopes for you souljer.

  • DID THEY MEAN IT ?

  • I just use a belt sander to smooth down my oak, never considered strapping it to my airplane, hmmmm

  • I don't understand why this test should be performed with that small "shock absorber" thing which is absent in an everyday plane. I know removing it would result in heavy tail damage for tje test aircraft but isn't it the purpose of this test?

  • Because they'd like to continue using that particular plane for testing, perhaps? Yeah, that could be it. Nice to know that someone on the Boeing team is thinking.

  • Its not a shock absorber...it's a tail skid and most transport category aircraft have them if they are prone to tailstrikes.

  • I've heard of skywest. Did you take classes at ATP Flight Academy?

  • The purpose of the test was to determine the minimum takeoff speed for the aircraft.

  • Thanks for claryfying

  • @e633xx

actually the 777-300 has an over rotation skid just like the one shown in the video.

  • the test (called a VMU test) isn't to see how badly they can smash the plane, but to see the minimum speed the plane can take off at. The larger the angle you can tip the wing, the slower you can take off, so ass-scraping will give you max wing angle possible. the skid allows max angle but protects the plane from unnecessary damage

  • It's not a shock absorber. The skid is used because they would want to use the same plane for the rest of their tests. Tailstrikes cause heavy stress on the frame and the aircraft must undergo a full inspection for its structural integrity (which costs an awful lot and takes time).

  • its not a skid, its the Tailstrike sensor / plate. All large planes have them. They have replaceable "pads" that should never need replaced unless you have hotshot pilots. But your correct about the inspection. If a tailstrike goes beond a certain point on the sensor, an inspection is required.

  • @e633xx The purpose of the VMU (max unstick speed) test is to figure out the various take-off distances at max angle of attack on the ground when certifying a new aircraft type. The test is done with various flap-settings.

  • @Studmuffinowitch Ups...minimum unstick speed ofcourse

  • VHS era, however i like the B777 so much

  • nICE!

  • lol sound at 0:54

  • these pilots have balls of steel jeeees

  • these pilots have wallets of steel also

  • more like solid gold!

  • @stfergus608 these plots also has a steel body.

  • @go2hellable em no then they would be robots or wearing suits of amour ! :(

  • @stfergus608 they deserv it man

  • lol i think MUV minimum unstick velocity would make more sence than VMU

  • Actually VMU makes more sence becuase they have work with V1, V2, V3, VMU...so its easier to differentiate with other Velocities

  • i see lol

  • if that happens on a non testin flight with real passengers does the plane have to land asap or can it continue?

  • Land. A tailstrike will most likely result in burnt holes and scratches on the belly, too dangerous to continue the journey.

  • @keduardop Land immediately. Tailstrike can also damage the frame so it's prohibited to continue after a tailstrike. It's not even a captain's decision. Tailstrike = waiting for the next one.

  • @keduardop definitely land. no way to know what damage could've been done until the plane has been thoroughly inspected.

  • thats a normal takeoff for Air Alkeda :-)

  • i would like a put a roasted pig on it and see what happened after the plane weight was on it , FRICTION - HOT = ROASTED PIG haha just joking :DD

  • lol @ 'Video Calibration' message. Used to hate those popping up on the vcr...ended up disabling the OSD altogether.

  • What was the minimum speed then?

  • have you guys ever got to stand inside the engine cowling, its HUGE!!! I was at an airshow in Washington and they had a staircase up to the engine itself. Its no surprise those massive things could push this big bastard off the ground with relative ease.

  • yeah, my dad flies one of those and the engine is very big. i think it the biggest engine for commercial planes

  • 777 engine is same diameter as 737 fuselage. A380 engine is even bigger.

  • not bigger than the 777-300 i think

  • Not sure? I flew the 777-200 and thought the -300 had the same engine set-up, but don't know for sure. The A-380 engines are too big for the 777 (either model) as far as ground clearance, but as far as rated thrust I'm clueless.

  • 777 engines are larger than A380 engines. The A380 has more power, but the A380 has 4 engines rather than 2. The largest jet engine currently in production is the GE90-115B, rated for 115 thousand pounds of thrust. It's used on the 777-200LR and 777-300ER. The other 777s use (slightly) smaller engines, but they're still larger than the A380 engines by a decent margin. I'd be quite surprised if there was any difficulty whatsoever fitting an A380 engine under a 777 wing.

  • i think its the 787 now

  • That has the largest engines you mean? Nope - the 787 is between a 767 and 777 in size, and uses engines with around 50,000 to 70,000 pounds of thrust each (rather than 90,000-115,000 like the 777).

Oh, and for comparison, the A380 has 70,000-80,000 pounds of thrust per engine, and the 747-400 (the newest in current service) has around 60,000 pounds per engine (the 747-8 currently under development will have 66,500 pounds per engine)

  • 777-300 is bigger it's bigger than 747's engine i don't know if it's bigger than A380

  • MrExspert, wrong, the 777's GE90 115b is the largest diameter most powerfull high bypass turbo fan in service. The A380 does not use these engines.

  • Nice video.

For those who don't know, VMU stands for "Velocity Minimum Unstick". "Unstick" is where the wheels depart the runway. So, it's the minimum airspeed at which the wheels can come off the ground.

  • lol it looks like my dog on the rug! :D

  • thanks for making me spit my coffee all over my screen

  • those test pilots have balls

  • That could've been the most awesome hickory barbecue ever!

  • DEEEEEED DEEEEEED DEEEEEEED Video calibration xD

  • You call it a tailstrike. I call it a dog wiping its ass on the tarmac. ;-)

  • buybygb I am so proud of you^_^(super!) You have managed to upload those old videos, it must have been a hard work doing all those stuffs! I am so proud of you! Five Star! wooooo!!!!

  • gotta love the vhs! kinda cool

  • woow man .. scary

  • It was. In the past, some planes never managed to get off the ground at that angle.

  • omg! really!?!?!? breathtaking,....

  • as good as it can be for a vhs. good quality!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice and rare!!! Typical VHS quality!! Back in mid-90s, there was no DVD, don't forget that!!
