@mixalaras1 lmao I have no idea wtf your setup is but assassin's creed doesn't exactly have user-friendly settings for that shit so if you don't have a good speaker system... you are kind of fucked! Time to play 'guess the volume' before hand with windows' sound volume panel I guess, yay Ubisoft...

@filipbrza means your on-board sound (or your drivers perhaps) just isn't quite up to the job, grab yourself a sound card and some speakers dude it really does make all the difference <3

if you have windows 7 this worked for me: the problem is with Realtek HD audio drivers, go to control panel then uninstall a program, remove realtek from there, restart your system and the sound should work.

I have the same problem as you. I DO have the sound, but sound comes out before the action. So I'd hear it and then see their lips move or wahtever. and the sound is only off during cutscene, actual game play is fine... have you figured out what was wrong?

Now, if this video doesn't work for you (the procedure is very similar on vista and windows 7, I believe instead of sounds and audio devices its simply 'sound' however) then what you need to do is grab a sound card.

no it isn't similar... you can't change acceleration there and grab a new soundcard is a great advice

Actually, it is.

If there is no option to change the hardware acceleration on that page it effectively means you have no hardware assisted sound processing (your on-board is either shockingly bad or you have incorrect / no drivers installed that know how to how to communicate with the hardware properly).

@Foxzorz No! Actually Vista and 7 got no hardware acceleration. And it's not a problem of the soundcart - under xp I got hardware acceleration and under 7 not. It's just that the Sound architecture of Vista and 7 is completely different from the XP architecture.

Actually, yup. Go to 'Sounds' in the control panel, double click on your speakers. Go to the advanced tab, and where it says 'default format' change the sound quality to the first in the list (the least quality).

Sure do, please read the updated video description. You need a sound card matey, you can pick up a cheap naff one from pc world for about 17 quid, or if your motherboard has one of those small pci express 1x slots, I'd advise grabbing the card I have, which is also in the video description :)

thanks for fixing the sound..but im getting an even worse bug. the characters talking are talking like all sped up and chipmunk like. and it says memory locked and it gets stuck at that screen...great! a 50$ game that doesnt work :\ i blame steam thats the last time i buy a game from them

Nah, nothings damaged. Think of it simply like this, I have a jug of really high quality awesome Water, and I want to put it in a really small cup. If I just tip the jug upside down over the cup I'm going to lose most of my uber water, its the same thing here. Its firing loads of high quality 5.1 sound at your sound chipset, and your chipsets going Pffff xD
