The most people from northern countries speak very good english. The more south you come the more worse it gets. I have been to south Italy a few years ago. No way with english. I love Italy but they should learn more foreign languages.
@MagicalSunrise1984 Every kid in Iceland start learning english in school when they're about 7-9 and then danish when they're 11. And if they decide to carry on in school after 10th grade(most teens do) they have to choose between german, france and spanish. So altogether we can speak 4 languages. I think it's tough but awesome(i will start learn spanish next year)! :D
@mallafanney well what do u expect? he's like 8 years old...english isn't taught in iceland until ur 12 years old or so in most schools...in some schools it's around 10 years
Dude that's awesome! How funny is it you actually came across this video? We had fun talking with you. I have one question for you, though. How do you spell your name?
Wow! I can't believe the coincidence here. I was just reading these comments, and was really surprised. It's not every day you randomly come across a video made of yourself.
@csbolt84 I will answer this one, i´m Icelandic :P i think he said Arngrímur... Okey its like fucking Eyjafjallajökull lool, i can imagine how that sounds for you, and wow Americans think we´re retarded eating (skata) fucking MOST disqusting that i know of here in Iceland, fucking sheep heads too, like WTF? its kind of a *"tradition" but i fucking find it disqusting and all my friends do too, my mom dont even eat that shit, but my grandma does.... She´s 70 haha. But i´m 20 btw..
Ha? = what? (usualy used to anounce that one did not hear what other said)
Hæ = Hi (a casual greeting)
1(Viltu gjöra svo vel) að rétta mér glasið= 1(Please) hand me that glass.
Please not, if you think an Icelander is being rude when speaking to you, it is not intentional, our own language is built up so thet it is hard being as polite as the English speaking people.
We have them but we usually don't use them in everyday life. For instance i call my boss by his first name and i never say sir/madam or the Icelandic equivalent herra/frú. If i would i would probably be treated like a kissass around the workplace. About please, we dont have that word in icelandic, we have to form a whole sentance in a proper way to get that meaning. That is not to say we are not friendly here, we are very friendly.
well actually, in Iceland the Hi sounds like english but it is written Hæ so he was just prob talking icelandic, because then he said in icelandic"ertu að taka myndir af okkur? which means "are you taking pictures of us"
I think he's just practicing picking up 'older women'. He stopped and took a good look at another woman who walked past him...before he wandered into traffic on his scooter...
First boy I ever kissed was from Iceland. He was here in Florida as an exchange student. His name is Erikur Bjarnason. His sister is awesome. But her last name is Bjaradaughter (misspelled, I'm sure). Male's last name ends with 'son' and female's ends with 'daughter'. Eirkur (Eric), was the first boy to kiss and I remember it well. We got caught in a rain and was stuck under a library awnning. Too bad I slapped him...lol. Oh what a guy!
After the hi, he says; are you taking a picture of us? then he says; are you icelandic? and after the "conversation" he says; i don't know.. i don't understand
Honestly, I am not totally convinced :) I doubt if such a little boy would understand an English native speaker... but perhaps he would. It's getting better and better when it comes to languages here. Well, Warsaw... Warsaw is kind of multinational :D
