  • brb still trying to clean this much.

  • @ajwazhere brb still trying to deadlift this much LOL

  • question simply about the form on snatches. i notice when I do snatches, it seems as if the weight is almost thrusted simply by my hips upward. it seems like in this video he does a similar type of movement? is this correct? cause i feel like when I do cleans, it is slightly different in that I do not simply thrust my hips into the bar to move it upward.. it is more simply a triple extension with a violent shrug.

  • Hell naw this dude made that look like cake

  • Hey Broz, would you suggest that taller lifters with body styles better for pulling sort of work to their strengths and do power lifts more often than the guys built better for squatting?

  • @centhocklars01 Before Broz answers you, if you question refers to the difference between the full and power movement in Oly lifting, then heavy squatters are more likely to use a power jerk than others.

  • @centhocklars01 nope - the exact opposite! When you can make your weakness your strengths, you will be the best. It's the exercises / movements that we suck at that we must embrace and make our favorites. Everyone likes the movements that they are good at, but it's the ones they are weak at they avoid.

  • Broz, what aspect of deadlifts makes them so difficult to recover from?

  • @acon120 only from max grinding singles. All others are ok.

  • @BROZKNOWS Ok, I'm glad to hear you say that. Why is the body able to recover from daily 'max grinding' squatting but not deadlifting?

  • @acon120 low reps takes a lesser toll on the body as opposed to higher reps. And food, can't forget about eating.

  • @tkuhns500 your retarded one rep maxes take a far heavier toll on the body, more weight = more damage, dont mistake "the pump" for damage and work actually done

  • @benno390 My personal experience, high rep squats with 70% of max are way more taxing and leave me ruined for days. Working to a daily SRM is not anywhere near as taxing for me.

  • @FTWSquat you misread sure you are much more sore but try a powerlifting comp or a oly comp where you are truely handling heavy weight and are putting up high 1rm's just because you may not be sore doesnt mean its not more taxing for some people it takes a month to two months to get back to serious lifting because a full meet is so taxing on the body

  • @benno390 as I said, my own personal experience.

  • @BROZKNOWS Dear master Broz... I see that some lifters catch the bar in the clean with 4 fingers instead of 3, is this just a personal preference? Or is there a "better" choice?. I have heard that using 4 fingers requires more flexibility. It seems that rob uses 4 fingers. Myself I feel a discomforting stretch in my little finger by using 4 fingers, but I am guessing I just have to adapt and becoming more flexible. I am willing to do that, but i do not see the point if there are no advantages.

  • @Fushraxen some people remain hook griped the entire lift, where others rack it with 2,3 or 4 fingers - open handed. Any of those are good. That is a small technical area that's not crucial. Its personal preference. both have pros and cons.

  • @BROZKNOWS John are you hoping that more coaches will start adapting the Bulgarian/krastev esque for their athletes? Seems you're proving that 'getting strong' and working on technique is no substitute for great conditioning and actually practicing the oly lifts. My knees hurt just thinking of all those double sessions

  • @Jerrythejerboa Honestly, I really don't care what other coaches or athletes do. Use the philosophy, don't use it -- whatever floats your boat. I'm just a guy having fun, doing something that I believe in and sharing the results.

  • Coach, do your lifters weight right before the workout or in the mornings?

  • @tombennettpiano before both sessions. I ask them everyday.

  • awesome

  • women want him, men want to be him (or they want to lift like him at least!)

  • Rob's becoming my idol, Massive respect for this guy, and also all the guys at your gym, so inspiring to watch!

  • What's his best clean and jerk?

  • @weightliftingisgreat not enough

  • Please tell me he's quit football and is going to become a full time weightlifter. That was awesome with extra awesomeness.

  • Pretty bad ass...

  • Goddamn, that is a nice lift! He does it faster and easier than Jon does, and is 200% more humble and sportsmanlike to boot. But this is driving me crazy, while Jon got all the "YEAH LONDON 2012 YEAH JON NORTH," Adell gets "steroids grumble grumble he's 96kg grumble grumble" and way less publicity. Because I'm sure Jon weighed in before making HIS "unofficial American record." What double-standards! Keep at it Adell! Looking forward to seeing you at Nats!

  • why so quite in the gym? Thats a huge lift figure some emotion out of him especially since thats an American record lift

  • @desembodic It's quiet because I enjoy the sound of the weights hitting the platform. No reason to get too excited - it's only 166. When he makes 189 it might be a different story.

  • @BROZKNOWS Which should be in about three weeks at the current rate of progress. Great stuff.

  • where can I buy those red oly lifting straps?

  • @desembodic before months end they will be for sale in the online store at averagebroz

  • @BROZKNOWS i assume you mean the new and very much improved ABG site?

  • @JNFreije no. On the current site's online store. The "new" site will have an entire different url.

  • @BROZKNOWS when should we expect the new site?

  • @BROZKNOWS john cena has visited your gym right? and his squat videos are pretty impressive 650 pound squats and stuff pretty cool....but do you agree with me that he is one of the strongest in WWE.....besides from that fatass mark henry....but i bet cena squats almost as much as mark henry.

  • @messifcb1998 Mark Henry is a monster. I personally watched him do an ATG 830+ BS raw. He stood up like a rocket powered elevator, then yelled "PUT SOME WEIGHT ON THE BAR!" He might carry a bit of BF, however he is a massive man. There are few people in the world as strong as him.

  • @BROZKNOWS okay your probably right.....but i know one guy....he is a light competitor in the mens 105+ ''Evgeny Chigishev''.....i mean c'mon dude......a 210kg snatch and 250 CJ with a height of 6'2 and a weight at ''only'' 280 evgeny chigishev remains one of THE strongest in the world....personally i like big guys better....(IM NOT GAY).............but you know as they say .....bigger is better.............and i think in one interview hossein reza zadeh stated his max back squat was400kg..880lb

  • @BROZKNOWS i don't really do olympic lifts, but i'm just wondering, are snatches kind like standing military pressses.

  • @deathkinggodfather1 not at all.

  • @deathkinggodfather1 well a snatch is kind of like....a snatch.

  • @BROZKNOWS Coach do you think Alexeev in his prime squatted 365kg? What about Taranenko? I read somewhere that he was a 450kg squatter.

  • @tombennettpiano Stories abound about their prowess, but one thing is for sure - They are both great examples of man's desire and ability to move massive weights.

  • @BROZKNOWS Ok...how about this question: Would a lifter have to squat 365kg in order to do a 250kg clean and jerk? Could he get away with a much lower squat? Of course I'm just asking your opinion in a general way, I understand that there are probably exceptions to every rule.

  • @tombennettpiano not have to, but have the ability to.

  • @BROZKNOWS I'd love to see vids of Salimi and Chigishev squatting just to compare. Chigishev is freaking explosive, if he was just a little bigger he'd own the supers.

  • beastly

  • so should we see him in the olympics in say 2016??

  • So I watch Jon North warmup up and scream to pump himself up. Then I watch him snatch 155, 162 and then 166kg, struggling and just making it, breaking the american record and everyone screaming and cheering in the background. Then I watch this where Rob quietly snatches the same weight like he was picking up his laundry. Such a beast!

  • @JordanSpecops123 It was a 5kg PR and unofficially the national record. Let him do whatever the fuck he wants.

  • @DirEnRefused You're not getting the point. Rob makes him look like shit. nuff said

  • @JordanSpecops123 there is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating a huge pr, pat mendes as done it from average broz. I love when guys like klokov hits a big lifts and is happy about it. Or when steiner won olympic gold in 08 and went ecstatic. It takes so much work to get to that level they deserve to show some emotion. I workout for that special moment when I pr

  • @desembodic

    I agree.

When it comes to watching competitions, I like to see the lifters show some emotion.

It's part of what makes it fun to watch for the spectators.

Training's different, though. Don't wanna let the highs get too high or the lows get too low, that kinda thing. The bar's still gonna be there tomorrow.

  • BEAST!!!

  • super beast

this channel makes me feel so weak

  • Good stuff man, you got under that quick!

  • Any new videos of Jared snatching? He and Rob had the same lift just a few weeks ago, it would be interesting to see how Rob is progressing in comparison (or contrast?) to Jared.

  • @BROZKNOWS are there any set weights as to which you should have before switching to an oly routine? Similar to how you're given Untrained - novice - intermediate & elite for your bodyweight?

In case it helps, I'm 185lbs

  • hooly shit. didn't look like a limit at all for him. whats his best clean and jerk right now, 220?

  • Like a baws.

@BROZKNOWS If someone want to get into the Olympic lifting styles would you recommend having a good base strength before trying the CJ and Snatch or if you follow the correct routine will the strength come with it?

Meaning should I try to build up my big three first then go to the Oly lifts?

  • @Germansbmbperlharbor need to train both simultaneously. the lifts are skill based, leg strength is not.

  • @BROZKNOWS Sweet Thanks for replying. I've asked that question to many others with no reply. I love the fact that you take the time to answer question on your videos. I'm sure mine has been asked before and you still took the time to answer me. I really appreciate that.

  • my arms dont go back far enough to do that or any overhead squat :(

  • Looks stronger than ever... Rob Adell 2012

  • Who's the guy with the ripped back in the thumbnail picture?

  • @Sully1111 him

  • @BROZKNOWS Holy shit.

  • Wow at the thumbnail, and of course at the snatch.

  • Hey broz, when will your website be up and running? Can't wait.

  • why did he pull first leave the weight and than snatch ?

  • @BROZKNOWS will rob be staying 94 or might we see him at 105 in a few years?

  • @MrDavy2024 prob stay 94

  • These videos make it look so much easier than it actually is.

  • impressive technique, very solid.

how much is his max in back squat now?

  • awesome! superb lift!

  • Rock solid, that was a lot of fun to watch.

    Always appreciate your posts.

  • Holy shit... looked easier than Jon North's latest... wow.

  • Wow, that was beautiful. No drama.

  • Would be nice to see what he does without straps.

To answer a question someone else had about lifting the bar off the ground, bringing it back down, then lifting, and if that is legal in competition... yes, you can lift it up to your knees, bring it back down, then make another go. If it it passes your knees, and you bring it back down, your done. However, you need to get the lift off before the clock runs out - as long as the clock hasn't ran out, you can touch the ground again.

  • I had a hard time squatting that today :-/

  • All I know is everyone of your videos from the guys at ur gym are insane!!! Probably the best strength and form for any powerlifter looking to break records!! Wish there was a gum like this in Houston

  • Everyone, broz has said MANY times that he picks up the bar before the lift because it's just a personal preference!

  • lol, this video has absolutely nothing to do with Jon North doing 166 too.

    Nice job rob

  • Holy shit. 180/220 by the end of the year?

  • @mmamilano That's the plan.

  • @mmamilano I think I would shed a single tear if an American 94 does 180/220 in competition.

  • He's just taking the slack out of the bar when he preps to snatch, a lot of people could benefit from trying it

  • Should've just done 167 so 'best American @ 94' wasn't debatable

  • @acon120 Since he was 96, doesn't really matter. Guess it's on to 170 this week.

  • @BROZKNOWS What are a few of the best shoes out there currently available?

  • yeah... forget about shooting for american records... great work rob/broz keep it up

  • everyone thinking 170 soon.....sorry...im pretty sure 170 was passed long ago....im betting 180-185 very soon....broz is too smart to be putting everything up here on the u tube......nothing wrong with keeping lift prs close to your chest...esp with comps coming up.

  • Hi Broz!

What would you say is Rob's ranking in the country at the moment?

  • @OhNoYouDidntMan in the world is my only concern.

  • let me guess he did this for 9 more singles afterwards?

  • this is so awesome. i love it.

  • With straps.

    Point? I ain't got one!

  • What is the address to the new website?

  • Nice tags coach.

  • And I bet he could get 9 more singles. Damn Broz you must have taken Rob off the Ark cause I think he's got pre-flood genetics or something.

  • @BarbellOnly only in america...

  • based on the clothing, this was the same day he did 10 singles in the clan with 200?

  • cot daym

  • Wow, super impressive lift, probably the lifter I am most curious to see their results over the next few years.

To answer all the questions about the slight pull before the snatch:

    1) It is legal as long as the bar doesn't pass the knees

    2) It's personal preference, some lifters like to feel the weight and use it to build tension in their muscles. It's a style choice, like how some lifters dive bomb start, others take their time. Whatever helps you lift the most weight is the best technique.

  • very impressive lifting

  • 175 soon

  • The little lift he does before he snatches it is allowed in competition, as long as it doesn't go higher than the knee, I believe.

  • Rob 2016 olympics? The answer is Yes

  • Just watched this and J.North's snatch and it's clear to see who was more comfortable.

  • Eagerly awaiting a 200kg+ c&j!

  • that was perfect!

  • What I've noticed with Rob is that no lift looks "hard" for him. Every time he lifts something, he lifts it with the same authority it seems.

  • He's going to do 185 in comp one of these days, I can just feel it.

  • i feel like rob would absolutely destroy j. north in competition

  • what's with the demotivating music, :(

  • @flch95 Unfortunately that's one of the few pitfalls of sharing space.

  • @BROZKNOWS That sucks. I would have been cranking Slayer.

  • Amazing as always

  • Rob's a American strength legend in the making and he's humble about it

  • Beast

  • awesome!!!

broz- ever get a lifter with mobility issues? how do you go about correcting it?

  • @ishred Yes, and it's a long process for some. Takes serious dedication on the athletes part to do a lot of work outside the gym to gain flexibility.

  • @BROZKNOWS What stretches do you recommend? for the shoulders etc? I'm trying to do squats with the bar overhead but the bar drifts forward a bit.

  • @BROZKNOWS

"Yes, and it's a long process for some. Takes serious dedication on the athletes part to do a lot of work outside the gym to gain flexibility."

I'm in that boat right now. Just started snatching and am having a very tough time with shoulder flexibility with anything more than a few degrees of knee bend. Can't come close to an overhead squat, let alone a squat-snatch. ATG front/back squats? No problem.

Coach, is that one of those "...long process for some", deals?

  • HULK SMASH LIGHT WEIGHT

  • speed under the bar looks ridiculously good

  • Broz you should put in the description why he lifts the bar slightly before doing the lift so people stop asking that question

  • @alexfischer285 Wouldn't matter. most people don't take the time to read it.

  • @BROZKNOWS like the rules of owl in general

  • @BROZKNOWS for those of us who do read the coaches advice:) does it motivate a stretch reflex or is it purely psychological?

  • @alexfischer285 So why does he do that before lifting?? I dont want to ask broz cause he will get mad :D

  • @quangfps I believe broz replied in another video that it had to do with grip. some people have said they like to "feel" the weight before the attempt. Either way it is legal in comp as long as the bar doesn't pass the knees.

  • holy shit balls!

  • is he front squatting over 230 now?

  • This is amazing.

  • Damn! Light weight baby

  • Holy shit!!! It seems like just yesterday he was still recovering from injury! What a beast.

  • Why does he pick the bar up before performing the lift.

  • @Powerbuilding16 personal pref

  • @Powerbuilding16 personal preference i believe

  • @Powerbuilding16 im sure it's just a psychological thing, gets him amped up before the lift

  • @Powerbuilding16 habit

  • @Powerbuilding16 Prob to psych himself up. I always used to kick the bar with my shine when i deadlifted, couldn't feel the pain till i did my set cause of the adrenaline :P Stopped thast habit as it fucking used to hurt sometimes, hahaha

  • You and your guys are just ridiculous. Awesome stuff.

  • Why does he lift a few inches before the last lift?

  • these vids make me happy, rob adell your gonna clean house!

  • The thing that Rob does where he picks up the weight, drops it, and then snatches it. Is it allowed in competition?

  • @danxfit Yeah, but if it passes your knees then no.

  • @danxfit It's allowed as long as the bar stays below your knees. I guess it gives some lifters a feel of how heavy the weight is and how much power they should apply.

  • @danxfit Yes just it dont get over the knees! :)

  • @danxfit ,

Yes,as long as the bar doesn't pass the knees.

  • @danxfit Yes, if it doesn't go past the knee, it's allowed.

  • @danxfit Yes as long as you don't lift it past your knees

  • @danxfit Yes unless the bar travels above your knees

  • @danxfit Yes, Behdad Salimi does that too.

  • @danxfit yes as long as it does not pass his knee

  • @danxfit once the bar passes the knee you cant return it to the floor. but what he does is ok. (i think i read that somewhere)

  • @danxfit yes.

  • @danxfit Yes, it only counts as an attempt when the bar is higher than the knees. Doing what Rob does is good for getting the slack out of the bar before lifting.

  • @danxfit I'm think as long as it stays below the knees it's okay. Salimi did something similar on his 214kg snatch at the world championships

  • @danxfit Current SHW world Champ Salimi does it. as long as it doesn't go above the knees its legal.

  • @danxfit Yes. As long as it doesn't pass the knees.

  • @danxfit

So long as it doesn't go above the knees.

  • @danxfit yes

  • @danxfit as long as he doesn't lift it past his knees he's fine.

  • @danxfit as long it doesn't get above the knee

  • @danxfit The way I understand it, as long as the bar doesn't go up past his knees, it's allowed. Once it clears the knees it's an official attempt.

  • @danxfit

Yes, just as long as the barbell doesn't pass the lifter's knees it is allowed.

  • What up J. North.

  • @deadheadbiker John weighs less than this guy doesn't he?

    good point tho lol
