is not Nilsson or Falgstad certenly...is not nordic or german, so her pronuciation is not perfect of course, but I agree , she make his best ,according to their means did the best possible ...now the wig is horrible, and dreadful quality clothes, she looks like a very glitter Mexican piñata...but she is Caballé and always will be...

A brave effort, but this is not for her. Would never have been a credible Isolde outside of her native Spain. She is past her prime, with poor breath control, poor diction (she rounds several phrases off to the closest vowel), and oooh dear that wig and costume! This must have been a self-indulged project for staged Isoldes.

I'm a fan of Caballe but she's no Isolde. IIf she performed the entire role, I'm sure it couldnt have been good. Her voice is not Wagnerian and unsuitable to that repertoire. She just couldnt handle the difficult role of Isolde. As a concert/recital piece, her Liebestod is fine but here she is old & past her vocal prime in 1989. She didn't sing as marvelously as she did in the 1960's & 1970's. This is lovely but she was never ready for Wagner. Her only good German role was Strauss' Salome.

God, who put the poor woman in that parachute of silver silk...and the diction is somewhat Rhenisch. It's "laechelt" not "laeschelt"...that does only dead Adenauer. The rest is a so called Heulboje...

I had the privilege to witness this performance in Teatro de Zarzuela.
All those years ago.
I was then surprised at her "s" and "t" sound. "Es Spuckt." in combination with her bossom heaving in those swathes of white silk are unforgettable.
Her "Rhenisches" as some call it. Did not object to me.
To simply to discount her German as "Rhenish" is doing her a disservice. Her rendition is pure and she really understands and sings perfect German,
But who am I to judge
