Can someone explain to me how the bassist makes that ghostly (for lack of a better term) sound? It's like "ooooo" hahah. I know the fretless has a lot to do with it but I don't understand what he does to make it sound like that.

In case of the slide: technique/how fast you slide with you´re hand/ how you hold you´re fingers/plectrum to slide(try different positions, -> different sound!)

in case of the whole thing: try researching the effects he uses. which amp. Also the bass is really strong in this sound-mix, you don´t often "hear" the bass in metal-music, because the frequenzy-spectrum it produces crushes other instruments on the mix.

@MineSweepingKent ps: sliding on a fretless bass sounds a lot different than on a regular bass with frets. obviously because there are objects(frets) that interfere with the vibration of the string, which creates the sound. maybe that´s what you´re looking for.

personally i just think a fretless bass is too awesome to not have it heard on the CD/mix! so the sound-engineer did a really good job here getting the "whooo" sound to our ears :)
