  • You guys shouldn't give a shit who's popular or not. Just respect it's good cause for charity and it being No.1.

I understand you not listening to them often but If you've never even seen or heard of Kylie Minogue, Cliff Richard, Jason Donovan, Sonya, Bros and Bananarama, then you need a brick wall dropped on your head.

  • @2467deadman PLEASE IT'S URGENT..CAN U TELL ME THE ANME OF THE GIRL WHO SINGS AT 1:53

  • @baslangic94 Sonya

  • @2467deadman thans a lot man.....

  • This version is like playing MILI VANILI. The only people I recognize are Banana Rama and the guy from Bronski Beat. The rest suck a lot. I have never seen or heard them before. FUCK THIS SONG. They fucked it up a lot. Probably a bunch of mainstream garbage just like "We are the world". Mainstream garbage sucks a lot. How many billions and billions of dollars do we have to give to fucken Africa. Those mother fuckers have been starving since I was a kid. Are we going to feed them for ever?

  • I loved the original, and also loved this version too, well done to all artists involved in both versions!!!

  • this is a really bad version of the song good thing band aid 20 happened

  • WHo is the blonde dancer at 2:50?

  • @MrKiefer42 Thats Sara Dallin She was a member of girl group Bananarama, awesome!!! (in my opinion)

  • Bros, Jason Donavon, Sonia and Wet Wet Wet I didnt think it could of got any worse and then Sir Cliff Richard showed up......Kylie looks fit though

  • @JPT315 Yeah doesn't have the same impact as the original! but the original was backed with epic artists! 1984 forever!!!

  • 10 stars

  • I only recognize Chris Rea in this video.

  • @vulkanizer what planet are you on if you cant recognize sir cliff & kylie at least

  • @vulkanizer hat about Bros? or Sonia or Jimmy Sommerville or Bananarama?

  • @15 seconds, its TINTIN!!!

  • Who the fuck are these people?

  • @heartsthatbleed87 A lot of them were Stock Aiken Waterman acts but they were all chart regulars in the late eighties! admittedly some of them sunk without a trace soon after but I have fond memories of them all

  • easily the best one

  • Comment removed

  • Not up to the standard of dudes like Simon le bon, Paul Young, Boy George, Glen Gregory, George Michael, Midge ure, etc but I do love the acts in this version! I was a big SAW fan back in the days!

  • You all need to wake up and realise why the popstars of this generation actually did this!! Not to take the first one off, but to do their bit and make money for a very worthy charity!!!

  • best version ever, thanks Stock Aitken/Waterman you guys at PWL are fab

  • The Bastard Child of Band Aid

  • Originals ALWAYS outshine remakes not just in music but movies too. the money went to charity so thats good but it goes to show this generation of 'pop stars' and I use that term very loosely had no talent to write a song that would sell and make money for the starving of Africa so they done a remake.

  • Nothing EVER is better than an Original,WAKE UP!!!!!

  • i love this just bcuz of bros <3

  • No version of this song will ever, ever surpass the original!

  • @OnlyForEveryone Oh it does . This is far better . And more to the point is actullay alright . I hated that first version . And If this had been the original then this is the one everybody would be saying is the best

  • @OnlyForEveryone The original had an amazing cast of musical acts! there was no way that Band Aid 2 was going to come even close! How could this bunch beat dudes like Bono and Paul Weller and Duran Duran and Boy George! to name but a few! the original was a who's who of pop at the time.

  • Never heard this before. Shocked! Even more shocking, I actually like it!

  • @MINDAADMIN So do I where as the ogriginal I hated before I even heard it . Right load of sad cheesy stuff that was .

  • To all those who think this is "not as good" as the other versions that may be so, but its still brilliant, sung with passion to try and help people

  • Big Fun! whatever happened to them??? rofl

  • Ugh

  • this is my favourite version, sorry guys it just is, i love it

  • @ebbwvalleys Here here , better than that first load of **** they did . Like I have said before the only reason most people prefere the other is because it is the original . If this had been the original everybody would be saying that this one is the best which I think it is . Better cast , better produced and generally more refined in its sounding

  • Everybody runs this down . Well as I have said before this version to me is far better than that original . God I hated it . This is far less cheesy and more refined . But there is something else . If this was the original and latter covered , then you woul all be saying that this is the best . Does not matter what what the subject is , where there is more than one , people will always favour the original no matter what . Anyway it still made No.1 as I recall

  • I never thought I'd say this but thank God for Cliff Richard for making this slighly less unbearable.

  • This is a terrible version!!

  • I think i can officially say i've never heard of or heard this version ever in my life . . . wtf

  • They murdered a classic....enough said

  • @FirebrandNIRE Its still brilliant, sung with passion to try and help people

  • @TheJohn7528

    Horses For Courses

  • Pete Waterman left his mark on this song.

  • Funny really , I hated the orignal before I even heard it . Even worse than that shit form Slade , but this version please God forgive me I actually rather liked . Does not sound so cheesy as the original .

  • @2100Rose Are you kidding? You do realize that almost every "singer" in here is a manufactured douche, with few exceptions. This version sucks.

  • @Nocgirl Who cares what every singer here is suppossed to be . So long as it sounds good then what is the problem . All I know is that to me this version does not sound the chessy crap the first version did .

  • luke goss, what a drummer

  • Some people gonna hate me after this but I'm here because of Glee :D

  • @franko161 Hell no! The first recording was released when I was 9 or 10 years old and freak'n LOVE the original, but this one is great too! I'm not that old really (HAHAHA) but the worst thing that anyone could say is that they don't know it, or that this one is better than the original. I'm a music teacher for younger kids and I think also the most important thing for them today is to just respect it! Great song!!!

  • @MOZ1175 I know, I know. The original is great. Glee made a good job but it never gonna be better than the original. Are you a music teacher? That's amazing. I'm just taking some music classes and I love it.

  • @franko161 What! Glee did a version of this! I've never seen that!

  • @katakisLives Watch it. It doesnt sound so bad :)

  • @franko161 I've seen it now! I like Glee and the cast of Glee do have good voices, obviously I prefer the 1984 version, because it has years of nostalgia on its side and the fact it contains a load of my all time favourite pop acts of my favourite pop decade.

  • @katakisLives I like both versions :)

  • Shit cover of a great song

  • this is a joke , right ???

  • Ronnie Spector @ 0:53-0:54

  • I've always been a fan of the original song, but this is the first time I've seen/heard the remake.

I haven't missed much. Oh, Chris Rea and Cliff Richard, what are you doing here?

  • This is the best version and also to get Cliff on the record is a major scoop who is the UK's biggest selling solo artist.

  • Just to let u know matt goss from bros is a Vegas headliner now and he's brother Luke is an actor staring in blade 2 death race 2 Charlie xx

  • sonia was fit back in her day!!

  • cliff richards neck looks like a dudes bollocks!!!!

  • May the Lord our God bless this world with love and peace.

  • @leopardthief i agree but still better than band aid 20 that was just complete shit

  • so i am very talented and open-minded baby ! You not gonna be bored with me

  • @annafrancis1000 nice!!

  • since it's saw produced there's many saw artists.kylieminogue, jason donovan, big fun, sonia, who else ? maybe mandy smith . i didn't see sam fox and she's not easy to miss.

  • one of the greatets voices ever is matt goss , also gr8 are morten harket and joey tempest...did i big fun ?

  • I can't get around the lack of British accents...

  • For an original Christmas song with a classic feel check out

The Caper - Dont forget the mince pies

    /watch?v=B5s4AhGuGsI&feature=channel_video_title

  • classic...

  • this is shit compared to 1984 god dammit!

  • half of these twats cant sing

  • Only Lisa Stansfield escaped the Band Aid II jinx, as I recall. Bros, Jason, Bananarama = immediate slump. Kylie, Somerville, Kevin Godfrey, SAW = career translation. Pasadenas, Cathy Dennis, Sonia, Big Fun = stayed B-league. Wets = hiatus. Cliff, D-Mob, Technotronic, Chris Rea = niche charts.

  • @beakermeepmeep cathy has written hits for kylie,s-club and others, kylie is almost the biggest artist ever.

  • Comment removed

  • Sonia and Kylie!!!! yay!!

  • Cliff, Cliff, Cliff !!!!!!!!

  • wow forgot how good matt goss voice was

  • WOW. First line - Kylie Minogue - Just WOW

  • most of you people miss the point, I don't care if the smith street under 10 chior is singing this song, and who cares what they are doing now. they did a great thing at the time, we should all record our own version of this song and give the profits to the right people. stop being so up yourselves!!!

  • any song done for this reason is a good song. most of us love the original best but we still have the problem. lets fix that and just enjoy the song, whatever version!

  • wow, i didn't know about Band Aid II at all.

lisa stansfield, bros, jason donovan..., what are those people doing these days?

  • @kgo3530 jason donovan's on a radio station called Heart on the weekends

  • @Mariahsblade12

Thank you for your information on Jason. Although I was/am not a big fan of him, I was wondering what he does today. He was also a big star even in 80s Japan. His cover song "Rhythm of the Rain" was kind of popular then. Jason seemed to have faded away since Kylie dumped him for Michael Hutchence of INXS as I remember.

  • marti pellow ruins this version because he's a fucking tosser

  • Besides Somerville, who should have been in the first one, I wonder who the fuck is all these ppl?

  • @novembrine1

    Bananarama

  • @kgo3530 Bananarama were in the first one as well.

  • Who are these people? God, I feel so old!

I still love watching the original, with Baby Bono and his mullet!

  • @LenaDelovely Thank you very much ! =)

  • Comment removed

  • Do someone remember the name of the man who sing at 0:15 Please ?? =)

  • @enrique560 That's Jimmy Somerville, he was in 80's bands Bronski Beat and The Communards and he also had a solo career afterwards.

  • @katakisLives Thank you !! =)

  • 懐かしい~~~!

  • I know it's for a very good cause and everything but this seriously sucks compared to the original. However much the originals fought among themselves for the limelight at least most of them were proper artists who did their own songs. This lot are a load of SAW puppets and whose idea was it to include bloody Cliff Richard!

  • THIS. IS. SHIT. PERIOD.

  • lol, Kylie Monogue?? EWWWWWWW

    LIke the original better :)

  • Who the hell are any of these danks???

  • @gsxrbuckeye lmao off? I think I saw Kylie Minogue (gag me), the rest? who the hell knows? Patients from the nearest mental hospital??

  • The original is timeless... There were no megabands doing charity songs before it.

This is a travesty to music. There is no spirit. No feeling. Half the singers can't get the timing of the lyrics right (especially Jimmy Somerville), Kylie Minogue and Lisa Stansfield both sing out of key, and the backing instruments sound like overproduced synthetic garbage, typical of the SAW output towards the end of the 80s.

Seriously guys, you should be ashamed for foisting this garbage on the public.

  • The thing about a good thing is that we should all learn to leave it alone. This is like a bad xerox of the song that changed everything and made us all so proud of our music.

  • magic magic magic.

  • jimy somerville at 0.42 seconds...

  • jimy somervillllllllll he is so gay,but amazing comunards his band in 80,s and i reminber the masterpice songs "small town boy" masterpiece!!!!

  • great version & with the bros luke & matt goss fantastic !!!

  • TERRIBLE!

  • 0:33 Is that MacGyver??

  • @Koolner77 Ehh?? that's Cliff Richards :)

  • Who are the 4 Black blokes who are singing at 2:13?

  • @monkey230578 : The Pasadenas!

  • @monkey230578 ,..asylum scroungers

  • proud to be part of the first release in the 80s. I hope this generation carries on the tradition 2010 onwards...

  • @SpyderWWW even tho i was and still am a diehard metal fan back then the original really was groundbreaking and you couldnt fail to be touched by the raw emotion of it,sorry to say but this version is shocking,i mean, sonia, kylie n jason donavon!!! the original had truly great pop artists, half of these maybe more were 1 hit wonders and as for the latest version, what is that? a round up of the latest kareoke contestants that seem to dominate tv nowadays! cheapened the song and its aims for me!!

  • Any record with Cliff Richard in should have been burned in the pressing plant.

  • actually the original one is more touching it was done in 1984

but this one is great also

i just luv it when these great people do some thing for the world

they dont di these things any more !!!!!!!!!!

  • mamma mia che merda di versione :)

  • I know it's not relevent to the video, but I think Marti Pellow is just so cute when he does that squinty thing with his eyes.

  • @Taopuppy Hehe, I used to like Marty way back when.. thought he was cute. What a pity he ruined himself with heroin use... I still like him tho. I had a massive crush on the bros twins too. Then again, I was 13 at the time lol!!!

  • Nothing beats the original...but at least they get the message across. Spread the love y'all! :)

  • The irony here, of course, is that everyone who appears in this version probably now needs charitable donations!

  • It's ok but its more hip hop and at lease it's NOT rap! I perf the 1980's first song much better!

  • more people should become aware of whats going on in the world and be willing to donate! being generous and compassionate to others is the key to happiness

  • this version is awful... the 2004 one is far superior. 1984 is still the best.

  • Sarah Dallin and Keren Woodward were I believe the only people who took part in the recordings of the first two versions.

  • @cbak12sg Yep you're correct !

  • This reminds me of the rest of Britain...complete and utter garbage.

  • Jesus this is bad, the typical Stock aiken waterman -esque production which dominated all of brit pop music for the past 15 years, is AWFUL!

  • It would be rare to see a single black back then.

    Now look at Britain.

    Thanks Labour for ruining Britain.

  • Is that Cliff? With long hair? It actually suit him.... not bad :)

  • I don't like the beat behind it. I think the Band Aid version is better. But this sure is better than those Band Aid 20 crap!!

  • Sir(s): Thank you for All Which We have Everyday of Life in this Very World. And I recall the Old AMERICAN Motto, "Unit, Corps, God, Country." --J. D., SATX 78202 UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (=U. S. A.)

  • I never even knew this existed!? Lol funny what you can come across on youtube! Of course the original was the best, but being a bit younger I actually recognise most of the artists in this one which is nice from a personal perspective.

  • @soundseeker63 The original was the Christmas no 1 of 1984. This did the trick in 1989, and was produced by Stock/Aitken/Waterman, who at that time were even producing hits for Cliff Richard and Donna Summer. Last version topped the Christmas charts in 2004.

  • I thought there were five members in the Pasadenas, I could only count four.

  • i didnt like this when it came out and i still dont...if they had come up with a new song instead of the absolute untouchable original then i would say ok, at least they tried...but these miserable stock/aitken/waterman creatures werent talented anyway and made this go completely downhill...i'll go and watch the midge ure/bob geldof composition now....yell on, bono...im coming....merry christmas everyone ;))))

  • I'll take the original any day over this political correctness crap!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • They all look like they're having a bit too much fun to me, it's no laughing matter

  • @SenorTingle What sort of comment is that? Are they supposed to be dancing around miserable? Of course they were having fun, that is the whole point of making a charity single, and it gets the message across about the famine in the world...

  • Yeah this version is better than the 2004 version. I still prefer the original one tho - grew up with it, just like Roger Moore as James Bond eventho Sean Connery is the best, Sir Moore is still the best to me.

  • @madjanssen i agree Merry Xmas

  • The main function of this recording is to remind the world how god-awful the music industry was in 1989. Kylie & Jason - Sonia - Bros - Cliff Richard - Wet Wet Wet... it's like a who's who of musical criminals.

But it's the thought that counts >.<

  • @gorgobar

1989 may have been naff in parts but at least the songs were catchy and memorable not like this insipid shite we have now!

  • @Hulk2k6 true enough, although frankly Stock Aitken and Waterman are largely to blame for the churned out sound-alikey 15-minute popstars we get these days. They showed that anyone can have a hit if you put them to a catchy (read annoying) dance backing track.

  • wow compare to the first this sucks

  • Is snooky in this?

  • I agree this is the best, the original is still great though...... Band aid 20 was just a pile of crap.

  • Leave it to Sonia to dress as if she's the Belle Of The Ball. lol...

  • In Jason Donvan's autobiography, he said that Kylie had just dumped him and they weren't talking during this recording!!

  • @mrskaykins Well they certainly were professional then, during the photo shoots, you never would have guessed. Imagine having to "hold" your ex, putting a huge smile on your face, and acting like nothing's wrong? Would have been hard.

I see lots of comments about the bands on here, but lets not forget how HUGE Bros, Wet Wet Wet, Kylie, Jason, etc WERE in the late 80's.... sure Kylie is the only who still is on top, but those other bands were massive at the time.

  • band aid 1984 > band aid 2 > band aid 20.

this version rocks because of 1:42, marti pellow is awesome and his voice is easy on par with bonos in the original

band aid 20 is shocking though

  • Thank God you are you and I am not.

  • This version I love - not as good as orginal version but alot better than the version ie band aid 20!!

  • Merry Christmas!!! from Lindenhurst, New York!!! God Bless everyone!!! and have a Happy and Healthy New Year!!!!

  • I love this version....I don't care who knows it

  • can't compare to the original

  • Good song help saved the lives of millions and at the same time offened alot

"there wont be snow in Africa this christmas time?" "do they know its christmas?" shame how they categories them all.

Just wanted to get it off my chest ..........hats off to them for raising funds

  • Im Singin this in Livepool Airport - as a solo:s

    ahh well;D

  • thank God it is them instead of us?

  • Well my goodness. Thank God it's them instead of us

  • Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you

And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time

thanking God for another's misfortune...how kind

  • I dub this the "Cliff Richard version"...

  • who is at 1:19 .... incredible voice

  • @devilslax7 that is Matt Goss. he was lead singer of a band called Bros in the 80s. he is a solo artist now. check his new stuff out on here. type in Matt Goss Evil, great song. enjoy.

  • @devilslax7 aint it the dude from Bros !??

  • This version's not bad... Still cant touch the original.

  • I don't care what anyone says; I like this version. It can't touch the first but it's still listenable and the spirit is still there.

Better than the godawful 2004 version.

  • @Hulk2k6 i love this version too. i like it better than then the crappy 2004 version!! the 2004 version was too loud too many guitars & loudness
