i think Tom wrote fantastic songs, but loads of people can perform these tracks much better than he did. well, not this one of course. its perfect as it is. but some others like ice cream man, and downtown train etc.
Too bad you didn't capture the entire song...one of my faves of Toms. Any copies by HIM are being pulled for INFRINGEMENT issues Gads. Rock on "T" mellow as you go.
everyone is most familiar with the Eagles version of Ol'55 , but i just learned that tom is actually the writer of this song.
apparently, many of his songs are recognized by the general public as cover versions by more visible artist like Bruce Sprinsteen and Rod Stewart, who performed Waits "Jersey Girl" and "Downtown Train" respectively.
no offense intended...i just find it amusing. you are correct though, sadly, what you wrote is the truth. Tom Waits is one of the greatest musicians of our time.
The car he is singing about is a 55 CADILLAC.

Monkmellon.....It would HAVE to be a F*O*R*D. If it was a Chevy, he would be walking, cause the damn thing broke down.

1955 Buick Roadmaster, which was Tom's first car...

Pretty sure it was written about a '55 Buick--not a Chevy.
