I always go to gamestop and just look at random anime-styled games, and when I stumbled across this one, as easily scared as I am, I thought "eh what the heck, broaden my gaming skills" and I have to say this is easily one of my favorite styles of combat, and the story is great too. Except for the 4th Realm....I hate that one D:

I remember seeing this game at gamestop as a demo. It was when the Ps3 came out. I wanted to buy it but the Ps3 was 500 or so dollars back then and the games were 60 dollars new. I feel bad about having waited so long to buy this game cause the developer deserved the money.

It's a real treat to see a game take monsters and magic seriously as an aspect of the story and the gameplay.

The concept of the game was good, but the in-game camera was horrifying. Also, no ability to kill yourself by jumping off various cliffs is a marker of a locked-in story-only game. I like having a little freedom.

It's tough getting a hold of a copy these days. I went through weeks of trying to get a new one, ended up buying a used copy as there's almost no way to get a new one anymore. Also, the actor who does the voice for Keats is noone other than Jeff from Coupling. Quoting Jeff - brilliant!

@Eerik7 Yeah, I don't see a new one anywhere in my city. My local GameStop is gathering quite the collection of used copies, though. The only person I know who kept his copy of Folklore absolutely loves it.

But pretty much all of the other 'gamers' around here are "Realism = Quality" Codfags that only bother trying anything that isn't an FPS because INSERT GAME REVIEW SITE HERE told them to, so I'm not entirely surprised that few people here like the game. Sigh... I hate people.

@TheWildSeraph I do not understand the massive interest in FPSs either, seems to be the thing these days. I really dislike the war FPS, I can tolerate some sci-fi FPS such as Bioshock, I guess, but wouldn't purchase it myself.

Trust me on this people, this game is a "Must-Have" game. People say the storyline sucks, because they haven't gone far through the exposition. The story is really fun to discover. As you go through the game you experience the graphic so beautiful, and at the same time the action as well. As the more you progress the more all the dots come together. Forms one good solved mystery. This game is really one of the best games so far, even though it's old.

Tim Burton did NOT invent the Dark theme, so people should stop giving him credit for stuff he has nothing to do with. If I ever made something dark and had my work compared to Burton, or heard someway I was inspired by him, I'd go berserk.
