What a GREAT GUY trying to help the people from Memfuss. There should be THOUSANDS of replies from those people THANKING him!!! But they wouldn't even try to improve themselves. It SHOCKED me to learn they DON'T USE Toilet Paper??? Whats wrong with you people??? And DON"T ANY of you southern GOOFS reply to me or I'll sue you for harassment!!! I'm from NY and I can do that!!!
This is so classic. All who want to get into wrestling need to study all of Andy's promos like this one. Nobody knew how to generate "heat" from the fans like he did. The only person that really came close to Andy was Bobby Heenan. Bobby Heenan was awesome too.
This video has had me laughing in stitches for days :) This is when wrestling was great and the actors did the acting and the wrestlers wrestled and talked (instead of trying to act). I hated Andy Kaufman but loved the gimmick.
This is fantastic. Thank you. It would also be great to post, if you have it, Andy's "toilet paper" segment of these "helpful hints". I believe it was the fourth installment of this series.
Kaufman had the heel act down pat. This was a great series of vignettes. Being an actor/comedian helped, no doubt, but just a simply awesome performance.
I have a question to ask, given the publicity that Kaufman generated, would the Kaufman/Lawler angle be considered the best angle of all time? I was a younger teen during this time and remembered when he stepped into the ring (and subsequent development and even the Letterman appearnece.) It was so perfectly crafted and made national news.
I think the only thing keeping it from being the best of all time would be the sudden and unexpected death of Andy. I hate that fans couldn't separate the difference of wrestling and life when it happened, and mourn the death of a great actor and part of the Memphis wrestling family. I think Andy and Jimmy Hart were basically the same character with the difference being Andy wasn't "a wrestler". To me, Jimmy Hart and Jerry Lawler was the best fued of all time, based on its span of years.
@salanh I'd say so seeing thatthe only wrestlers to make national news after that were Brian Pillman, Owen Hart, Eddie Guerrero & Chris Benoit, unfortunately
Perfect!!
