  • This is very interesting. I once climbed to the hills of the Hollywood sign. i was about 100 ft from it. That area is absolutly one of the most serene, peaceful and pleasent places I have been to. I think that whole area has a power and a vibration to it most overlook. I imagianed when looking down from it, the spectors of all who had gone before me , from indians to pioneers to silent stars to the icons of the golden age to new guard. I love that place, and to have experienced it humbles me.

  • @ccipollini1984 I completely agree.

  • Carol is a Bishop :D

  • Thank you for posting!!!!

  • Does anybody know the name of the track at 3:40? It sounds like Philip Glass to me, but I can't seem to find it.

  • @iceshark1 All the music you hear in my clips is original, and commissioned by me. The composer's name is Patrick Kirst.

  • @underthesign1 Ok, thanks. Great documentary by the way. You wouldn't happen to know if the track has a name?

  • didnt like, the illuminati make this sign.

  • I hear the sign use to be lighten up but the lights were removed after 9/11.

  • @RareAspie Not true--the only time the Hollywood Sign was lit was on New Year's Eve, 1999, for the Milennium. It caused gridlock all through the Canyon; for more on this, see my blog underthehollywoodsign at Wordpress.

  • @underthesign1 Hey thanks for putting me right. I love to lean new things.

  • @underthesign1 dosnt seem like it,it cant be known for its lights after one night

  • @underthesign1 You're both wrong. It was lit up at night from the beginning until WWII. There was a caretaker named Albert Goethe who lived in a shack behind the sign - his job was to replace the lights. I filmed an interview with him in the early 70's.

  • @yotimbo His name was Albert Kothe and he lived in a cabin at the end of Beachwood Drive, not in a shack at the back of the Sign (there was one, but it was used to store lightbulbs). For more on Kothe, read the piece on my blog Under the Hollywood Sign.

  • Hello Hope, i've heard there was footage of the original sign being built and for the longest time i've been trying to find somewhere online. I finally found it as part of your documentary. Thanks for posting this, i finally got to see it. I hope you've had a lot of success with your film.

    best,

Brian - owner of the Sidney Woodruff residence in Hollywoodland

  • I love Hollywood.

    The sign is a treasure.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • i really hope to move out of ny soon

  • hollywo

  • wehn ii get older ihma live in hollywood yaya

  • Aren't there rattlers up there? You'd have to be nuts to make the hike at night.

  • sad that that Actress Went through that. I know what its like to be coned by super low budget directors, Man Why the hell did I do that terrible excuse for a movie I tell myself. but never suicide. If I ever get A Chance I will place a rose on the H for her.

  • Hollywood is the magician's wand (branch from the holy tree, a wand) which has been used to cast a spell on the unsuspecting public. Things or ideas which would otherwise be seen as bizarre, vulgar, undesirable or impossible are inserted into films in the realm of fantasy. When the viewer watches these films, his/her mind is left open to suggestion and the conditioning process begins.

  • What they should do now is light it up at night. With lights below the sign shooting up at it. But use solar power so that it collects during the day time.

  • @DiverseLA

Nice idea but I'm afraid it won't happen--lighting the Sign would draw a huge number of cars to the Canyon's narrow, winding roads. When they lit the Sign for the Millennium, 40,000 people tried to come up Beachwood Drive, completely blocking emergency access.

  • @underthesign1 But wouldn't that be just because it was a big one-night event? If i was a nightly thing, it'd become normal and there wouldn't be such a crowd. However, the more realistic reason it wouldn't ever happen is how much it would cost to light it every night.

  • Fascinating and very well done documentary. Thank you so much for uploading it.

  • omg ppl have written all over the hollywood sign that should be banned its sooo disrespectful

  • @lexbug07 The alarm system helps, as does the fact that it was repainted in late 2005.

  • I wonder if anyone has a remnant of the original sign.

  • @pazzensutra Yes, various people have pieces of it, including lightbulbs.

  • With the way it looks now (great) it's hard to imagine that it went to crap the way it did in the 70's. I would like to get one of those DVDs. I went up there and took a video of me touching the sign in '06. I've adored the sign since I was a kid.

  • @pazzensutra

Please e-mail me so that we can exchange details.

  • For those who have asked, I'm selling a limited number of DVD's of the uncut version of "Under the Hollywood Sign." Please contact me for details.

  • Is the actresses name in this film Kelly?

  • Yes. Check the credits.

  • When this was over I went to part 2, didn't even look at the credits. I was just curious cause I was reading the whole background as to why that film was made.

  • Would love to see the rest too.

  • @DukeBX
